This is SO ironic. First Great Western made such a fuss about the Adelante, but nowadays they only have about 4, maybe less! The others were sent to First Hull Trains & Grand Central.
Maybe if they hadn't had such massive reliability issues FGW wouldn't have canceled the orders. I've still never actually seen one of these units running with all 5 engines. They always have at least 1 out of service for one reason or another.

I feel like adalantes could of been the future of the fgw with them being that fast First wouldn’t of had that much complaints. If only the adalantes were more reliable and were actually comfortable.
I always wondered why the disabled toilet and seating area emergency button went direct to the driver, surely it should be highlighted to a member of staff working elsewhere?
Id imagine because the driver is the only person with a fixed working position. In older trains, it just rang out an annoying noise till service was attended - which isnt great for other passengers.
I mean it's a good thing notifying the driver as well incase the person calling for aid needs urgent assistance requiring the train to stop just my opinion though
standardized system perfect for if the service is ever downgraded to DOO, also means the driver can contact the signalman if a early station stop is needed for a 999 roundevuex
@07:00 "In Standard Coach E, there is a SPECIAL toilet for THE DISABLED" - and nobody thought there was anything wrong with that? It is amazing to see how much more inclusive language has become in the last 20 years.
Why do they have breakable windows and hammers instead of simply having emergency handles on the windows that release the window? That's what is on most, if not all, busses and trains in the States. With releasable windows there's no broken glass to worry about.

It seems to me that some of those emergency call buttons should be directed to a staff member other than the driver. I can understand the emergency brakes allowing for communication with the driver, but if someone takes a fall in the toilet, do you really need to distract the driver with that? The video makes it seem like the procedure in that situation would be for the driver to call for someone else to take care of it. Wouldn't it be safer for those calls to go directly to whomever is responsible for helping the passenger rather than distracting the driver?
According to some other comments, this is due to the driver being the only crew member with a fixed position. If the passcoms alerted the train crew, alarms would have to be placed throughout the train, as all other crew will be moving about at most times.
