The GBA version is essential just a port of the NES version. The reason the sprite looks that way was cause the PocketNES emulator that it used squish the screen down to GBA aspect ratio, had it kept it 4:3 like the others it would had look better on TV but terrible on GBA.

You shoukd have totally included the fanmade C64 port, especially since it was one fan, who worked 7 years on it, only to have it shot down by Nintendo in just 4 days after release.
I have good memories of playing the original NES version on a bootleg console that looked lile a Sega Megadrive, back in the 2000's lol. One of my first games!

I didn't have an NES so I really discovered the game with Super Mario All Stars on the SNES. I'm playing the hell out of it again now that it's out on Switch. That said, over the years, I've come to appreciate the original more. I always come back to it, it's just perfect.

@@nintendogp2017 That was part of their terrible Wii Virtual Console stance, that we should live the atrocities of playing in 50 Hz all over again because we did in the first place so we would be nostalgic for slower and squished games. Hopefully they replaced that with *checks notes* playing games with an ugly dark grey background you can't turn off.

My favourite is definitely the Super NES version. It's the main one I grew up with, and it has welcome enhancements in terms of presentation and quality of life. Its 16-bit graphics complete with vivid backgrounds look beautiful even by today's standards, and those graphics are delightfully paired with enhanced arrangements of the original game's music. On top of that, it actually features saves and continues allowing you to restart at the beginning of each world rather than at the beginning of the game every time. As iconic as the 8-bit original is, I think Nintendo needs to show its 16-bit remake of _Super Mario Bros_ a lot more love.
They've finally shown it SOME love by including it on the Switch Online service. And it's so awesome, it's probably the game I've played the most on the Switch since it was added. :)

@retrosutra: The reason why I prefer the Famicom disk version of Super mario bros. the lost level mario will have an easier time compare to the all-stars SNES version, because the Famicom behave like the NES and if mario face his on the koopa and mario still have the vertical downward motion it will stomp on the koopa, while if you do the exact same thing on the SNES version All-stars you will not take damage but phase through the koopa. in Both the nes version and the all-stars version you cannot stomp on koopa and goomba under water, but you can in super mario bros.35 but their his not point to hit since the timer you gain does not increase when you chain theme under water since your always in the air if I see it correctly.

I love these... although you should've followed the same path, gotten the star on the 1st level, and jumped on the koopa turtle to demonstrate the major physics and music differences.

Umm, All Night Nippon is not a version of Mario 1. It's like Mario 1.5 and a totally different game after a handful of levels. Calling All Night Nippon a version of Mario 1 is like calling The Lost Levels a version of Mario 1.
By the way, Super Mario Bros 35 isn't just Super Mario Bros (as in the NES original) played against 34 other players. The game shown here is actually a remake of the said game played against 34 other people. You might be thinking "What are you talking about? It's the same game!" Well, actually, there're some changes, one of them is obvious: if you get hit as Fire Mario, you go back to Big Mario instead of small Mario like in the NES original. This is a change that neither the SNES remake nor the GBC remake changed. One change tbat the latter DOES include is the removal of the minus world. Interestingly, the Game and Watch that released under a month and a half later DID include the minus world. Go figure.

SMB ver: the same as pc10 ver but with different level and more difficulty FDS(ANSMB): the same as FDS ver but with SMB 2. The Vs. and All-Stars versions are my favorites. I just love how the Vs. version switches up the levels. The GBA version looks ugly af

The Game Boy Color (SMB Deluxe) and Super Mario All Stars are my personal favorite.
Its simply amazing years after the release of this game its still makes it's way onto newer game systems of the future just shows a classic never dies

マリオに限らずファミコン後期やスーファミでグラが強化されるとどうしても視認性を高める為なのか自キャラが黒で縁取られたりしてるけど、個人的にやっぱり初期グラの縁がないほうが味わいや親しみがあって好きかな

When I saw the 25 on the blocks for the Wii version I was confused at first but then realized it was for the 25 year anniversary of its release.
Ive just watched 3 minutes of the exact same thing so far and i think theres a chance they are all just the nes version being replayed
The SNES version has a marginally different theme that flows better, and I'm not referring to the instruments.
Super Mario 35 is the greatest...for giving people seizures.

Belive it or not, Luigi's fire flower suit for the SMB style in Mario Maker 2 is based off the Fire Flower pallete for Mario in the VS. version

The GBA version very much feels like they just used the homebrew PocketNES.
Also, the frame blurring is weird.
It is using PocketNES, if you own any of the Classic NES Series cartridge, you could even access the PocketNES menu.
