Rosalina Voice Comparison + My Opinion (2007 - Present)

- Hello! After a hiatus i decided to comeback. This video is not much different from my usual content, however i wanted to try doing this as an explanation of why many of my videos are Rosalina ''voice mods'', so it's pretty much that. Also a pretty good excuse to make animations in here as well , im just that extra lol.
This is my take on the whole topic, please share your opinion in the comments, and don't forget to like and subscribe for more Rosalina videos or maybe something related to Mario characters, who knows.
I agree with your thoughts on each voice! I really love your voice mods and the special tweaks you do with Laura's voice as it makes her sound more appealing for Rosalina. Mercedes is the best in my heart. I miss her too much. That was the voice I grew up with.

I don’t mind Laura, but Mercedes and Kerri fit a lot better to me.
Especially Kerri Kane. She sounds great for her. But why she moved out, she could've voice her for a long time.

What made me love this character was how calm and emo sounding her voice was ans how mysterious the character was. Now shes so smiley light voiced and its not the same
i wouldn’t be as upset with the new voice actors but it’s the fact that they removed that echo she had it made her sound so much better

I think they're all good, my problem with Laura's is that sometimes she sounds too much like Peach.
Yeah, Laura definitely has potential to make Rosalina sound amazing. Like when she sees “you see that,” it sounded perfect. Like, she sounds cute, I don’t see her as annoying like some people do but it is disappointing that Nintendo and/or whoever is in charge of voice acting makes her try to go for a higher pitch overly excited voice rather than a softer spoken voice.
Now I do love Laura but Kerri and Mercedes's voices are so beautiful and elegant

Kerri Kane: An unnecessary change, but it fits Rosalina somewhat.
Laura Faye Smith: ...Peach? You look a bit different, when did you change your style and grow your hair?
Peach and Rosalina are not related at all. They may look simlar. But they are just friends. And Daisy too.
The biggest issue is the overall change in personality Nintendo forced upon her. The VAs are fine, actual lines are fine for all three, in my opinion. Issues begin to arise when you move away from actual dialogue, or- As much Dialogue that Mario games allow, and shift into just- Sounds, grunts, cheers and anything that isn’t a spoken line of dialogue.
It's Nintendo forcing Laura to basically sound like that. To sound cute and happy to blend more with the Mario characters but in reality in many lines that i didn't even use in this video, she naturally sounds deeper and more womanly which fits the character 100%. Nintendo is the one at fault for the sudden change.

Kerri and Mercedes are also good
I don't think Rosalina (in Laura's voice) sounds anything like Peach even when she shouts. Sam has a way higher voice than Laura. And Peach screams mutch louder than Rosalina. And Princess Daisy screams louder than any other of the Princesses. She sounds very different to both Peach and Rosalina. Thanks to Deanna's loud super screaming powerful lungs.
I'm so glad they kept Kerri Kane's voice for Rosalina in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

@pato Nintendo did that for once cuz it’s the same game pretty much but Laura is the new voice actor of Rosalina so Laura will continue all games including her voice from now on, on upcoming new games.

My thoughts:
Mercedes: probably the best fit for what the character was meant to be. Calm and mature.
Kerri: my personal favorite, but not a 100% fit for the character. Also the first voice for her i ever heard so i have a slight bias.
Laura: .....sorry i just don't think her voice fits Rosalina at all. Her voice sounds young and bouncy, two things Rosalina isn't meant to be.
The more i see Rosalina appear the more i think Kerri fits best since she can provide the fun but also the womanly vibe Rosalina needs. The thing that people fail to realise is that while Rosalina is still young and participates in energetic events she still needs to sound like somebody's mom, that's basically what Rosalina's voice is as a base, the voice of a mom , and both Mercedes and Kerri nail that important aspect while Laura just provides the fun and very little in the other areas. Kerri is definetely the best fit for both worlds, while Mercedes is the best fit for what the character is meant to represent according to her bios and hystory.
@@SwiftieLuma I agree Luma. Kerri voice is great for Rosalina, she has a great to keep voicing throughout the appearances until she moved out. Mercedes was mature and calm and she was perfect for Rosalina all the way. The nintendo company need Mercedes back, she would've been famous for voicing her for a long time.
For me, Kerri Kane kills the voicing role for rosalina in Mario kart 7 and easily takes the cake

For Laura, she's not complete trash, cause there are some dialogue I liked from her performance. But they should have just used the dialogue from Super Mario 3D world, cause to me she sounded a lot better in that game. Here, there making her sound immature and exaggerated like Peach. Just use the voice recording in Super Mario 3D world. And BOOM
You don't have to pay the voice actor more money and Rosalina won't sound immature and exaggerated like Peach. It's a win win
They should’ve stuck with Mercedes as she even didn’t know she was being replaced an was more than willing to voice her again, Kerri was great but she moved away unfortunately, as for Laura with the right direction she’s good I like her voice in Mario kart 8
We can largely blame Miyamoto for this. He typically pushes AGAINST any sort or unique characterization for the characters involved. Rosalinas whole backstory was written up by Koizumi, who basically begged Miyamoto to let it in the game. Miyamoto had more say in Galaxy 2 which is why it was a much more lighthearted mario game compared to galaxy.
Hopefully when miyamoto retires, Koizumi gets a chance to shine and Rosalina won't be peach-ified anymore.
Your right about everything you said Luma. Rosalina has the best fitting for Kerri Kane. Dont why she moved out, it's terrible. But Mercedes will always be a great fitting for her as well. I wish the nintendo company kept Rosalina voice for Mercedes throughout the years she would've been famous. Kerri was always be my favorite. Laura is great for her also but she voice her like Peach when she make her excited. But Nintendo wants that so yeah. I love Laura voicing her and Rosalina has the great voice for her. But I'll miss Mercedes and Kerri as long as I live.
Laura Faye Smith as Rosalina makes me want to kill myself quite a bit and it’s a shame that Nintendo has pushed Rosalina to be an annoying overly cheery flake rather than the reserved powerful and composed woman she is. Unfortunately Mario kart tour is the same.

Call it an 'old fashioned' gimmick, but I do prefer Rosa's original voice actress. Mercedes gave Rosa that sense of maturity and calming tones as opposed to the other voice actresses. I've got nothing against them, but I feel like Nintendo skipped out on the appeal to many of it's older fans, relating to Rosa's character.

I don't care what people say about Laura Faye Smith's performance as Rosalina, I love her voice and it may sound like an unpopular opinion.
I loved the first two voice actresses, the third one was just a mess.
i like all, but i guess each has their own catch and appeal people differently. Laura isn't really bad, it's mostly how she is directed to do Rosalina's voice. It's very noticeable in 3D World that she is clearly capable of covering Rosalina's more calm and womanly character while still being playful, that's what i like about her.

⭐️ My opinion has been changing, but I think I have now came to a final conclusion, I will start by naming all the voice actors with pros and cons. ⭐️
💙Mercedes Rose💙: 🌟Where do I even start? This voice actor had everything needed for the absolutely breath taking voice! Rosalina was always meant to have a more upsetting, calm toned demeanor towards both her personality and voice. Mercedes had a flawless voice for Rosalina. There is nothing bad I can even say about her voice. Just the way she makes sounds and speaks, you can really see and hear Rosalina. Knowing Rosalinas backstory can help support this.🌟
💙Kerri Kane💙: 🌟Kerri is amazing! I do think she was the perfect replacement role for Rosalina, after Mercedes no longer had the part. She really did keep Rosalina’s mysterious voice alive. The whole echo effect on it was perfect and definitely referencing Mercedes voice. Yeah, it was a little big higher pitched, but definitely still darker sounding. It was laid back with calm, light vocals. Never once over the top.🌟
💙Laura Faye Smith💙: 🌟I hate to say it, this is my least favorite voice for Rosie. It does not represent her character, but it’s not terrible. I still love Rosa no matter what, and it still sounds quite beautifully. I do really appreciate that Rosalina is putting in effort. While it may not be the best, Laura is still trying. I do feel as if Laura practiced and Nintendo directed a bit better, she could imitate the older style voice. She needs to tone it down on the pitch, and Nintendo needs to edit the vocals with the same effect they did for Kerri and Mercedes.🌟
I couldn't agree with you more Swiftie luma. I feel like Nintendo is giving rosalina this more "girly" direction with her voice. Yes l'm awear that she's a girl but just look at Daisy.Daisy's voice has more life to it and matches with her personality.But rosalina wasn't presented as a girly girl. In galaxy she was a wise,quiet and living the calm life kind of woman ( if that makes any sense ). This is why I miss old rosalina. Instead of shown as another peach, she had a actual personality. Kerri was a big part of my childhood, that being SMG2, Mario Kart and her addition to smash. I absolutely love Kerri's voice work for Rosa and I'm just a bit upset she didn't get to stay for the time being. Regardless the voice actress, Rosalina will always be #1
I wish in the future Nintendo will go back to the first one (or someone that sounds close enough to that voice and pitch) and never change,
I will forever consider Rosalina the newcomer to the gang even though it’s been 10 years... Time flies by
Wow! I remember when I first saw her in Mario Galaxy and wished for her to join Peach and Daisy in the Mario parties and Mario karts.
I remember seeing her at a family video thinking it was like a new peach transformation or something. Then realizing that it was a brand new character and realizing how older and mature her voice sounded.

Kerri was the first actress I heard Rosalina’s voice through and throughout the years I gradually became in love her voice. Then when I heard of her first actress I was also in love with her voice. Then her third actress sounded different yet she was still my favourite. 🌟
I used to like rosalina but they made her into peach 2 with her current voice and it made me lose interest because of the loss of uniqueness
Mercedes = Makes her sound elegant and in her mid 30s.
Kerri = Makes her sound like she's in her 20s, but rather unenthusiastic. Elegance is debatable
Laura = Makes her sound both Enthusiastic AND in her 20s Elegance is mostly gone but an effort is made to replicate it.
loved this video. i agree with your opinions. i like the three of them... but yeah, Laura's voice makes rosalina sounds like a peach in some cases (mario kart 8), but i love her in mario 3d world tho. would be great if nintendo put the echo in her voice again since Laura's the recent actress.
Laura is good, like Swiftie Luma said, she's good when she is talking but, when she does the "Yeahh!" "Ooohhh yeah!" voice it's weird, especially in Mario Party 10 :/

I hate that Nintendo told the voice actors to slowly make her voice higher. I miss her deeper calming voice. They should have stuck with the original effect

I think Nintendo should have laura faye smith lower her voice to match mercedes and kerri voices as for my opinion on baby rosalina baby peach and baby daisy they should really have them sound like actual babies they sound like adults not so much like toddlers in my opinion but i also hope for mario kart 9 they can work on all the voices

In all honesty, as much as I love Rosalina from the get-go, her voice actresses are a mixed bag. Kerri Kane hasn’t really stood out much with only Mario Kart 7 and the post-Brawl Smash Bros. games, and Laura Faye Smith sounds a little too bouncy and cheerful, but as for the OG Mercedes Rose; the perfect motherly figure in her tone of voice and on that behalf, she’s the best of the three. 😌
I prefer a voice between Kerri Kane and Laura Faye Smith's with an echo. That suits her the most.
Exactly what I’m saying! Laura definitely has something. All she has to do is tone the pitch down a bit and add the echo effect.

Laura Faye Smith has a pretty voice, but she doesn't suit the character... at all. I grew up playing Super Mario Galaxy, which is Rosalina's origin game. She is calm, collected, elegant, and shows just enough emotion to tell what she's feeling. Smith shows way too much emotion and lacks elegance, her voice is also way too high pitched. I'm really disappointed and sad to see how my favorite character who I grew up with lost her uniqueness over the years, voice wise :(

Theory: Rosalina's evolution is similar to Donkey Kong's evolution. The current character called Donkey Kong didn't appear in the first time in the arcade game Donkey Kong (1981), but in Donkey Kong Country (1992), and during the development of Donkey Kong Country Diddy Kong was planned as a redesign for Donkey Kong Jr. But Diddy Kong looked too different from Donkey Kong Jr, and that's why he became a brand new character. Likewise, the name of the original Donkey Kong was changed to Cranky Kong and he was changed to an old ape, and the current Donkey Kong got his old name.
According to my theory, despite the current Rosalina look very similar to the original Rosalina, she is not the same character. Current Rosalina is original Rosalina's daughter, she looks very similar to the original Rosalina, and appeared in the first time in Super Mario 3D World. Unlike her mother, she is more immature, and her voice is higher in pitch and doesn't have echo. In Mario Kart 8 she also appeared as a baby called Baby Rosalina. My conclusion is that maybe the original Rosalina is dead, and she was replaced by her daughter.
My father thinks Rosalina's voice is annoying even in Super Mario Galaxy.
