    Great stuff. In college I got to take an immunology class from the guy that discovered Interleukin 1 which was pretty cool.

    At marker 9:45, TGF-Beta should be "Transforming Growth Factor-Beta", not Tumor Necrosis Factor-Beta

      I was also thinking this! Came to the comments to point it out. Thank you for pointing this out, too

    TGF-beta (9:25) should be transforming growth factor-beta, not tumor necrosis factor right?

    • @papongpapong1047
      @papongpapong1047 Год назад

      I believe so-- I thought it was a typo to begin with, but when I heard him also say it in the script, I figured he must've meant it. I did some searching, thinking TGF was a synonym for TNF, but was still confused at the change of letter. Came to find what you had commented about, and wanted to add that TGF stimulates the production of extracellular matrix (ECM) fibroblasts, whereas TNF has anti-fibrotic activity.

    Great video! When a chemokines come in contact with a ligand, how does the cell know where to go? Does it have a gps of sort or does it roam on autopilot in a certain direction until it encounters another chemokines? Thanks!

    • @JG-lf6mk
      @JG-lf6mk 3 года назад +1

      The cells utilise chemotaxis, which means they move towards the area where the concentration of chemokines is the highest. This happens because if you imagine the cell as a sphere with chemokine receptors uniformly spaced out all across it, the area that is facing the highest concentration of chemokines will have the most receptors activated. Therefore the cell will move according to this asymmetric activation of these receptors, moving towards the side that has the most receptors activated.

    Let's say I have a rifle of an arbitrary caliber, with two wire-like extensions on the front.
    Is it somehow possible to shoot out a bullet, and electrify it using those extensions, without the bullet touching anything in the process?
