I DID grow up to be a paleontologist. Can confirm. You DON'T do this if you're looking to make big money - HOWEVER, there ARE some positions which do pay pretty nicely - the catch is, a PhD is pretty much mandatory and the competition for any position is EXTREMELY high level - so unless you went to a top 3 university and had all the right connections, grades, etc, you're not getting that curator position at the American Museum of Natural History, for instance. That's reserved for the people who not only have a PhD but have the highest level connections to big names in he field. Trust me on that. But, I've made about $30/hour working on construction projects where I was there as the paleontologist, and I'd get sometimes 50, 60 hours a week ($1,800 a week) - BUT those jobs ALSO have downtime too when there's no projects. So. Yeah, it's a LONG educational path to a minimum of a Master's or PhD for less than you'd make going into programming or something without the need to get a PhD. HOWEVER. You can double major in geology AND paleontology and find jobs in both - and some geo jobs pay pretty well. Then you can just look for that curator or research position on the side until you get that. Still, you're looking at 4 years for a Bachelor's, 1 to 3 for a Master's depending on the program (my Master's was a 2 year program, full-time), and on average 5 or 6 years to a PhD for a total of 11 to 12 years of total university education - so if you start at 18 right out of high school, expect to be close to 30 by the time you're even employable in any serious position in paleo. That's WHY most will never ACTUALLY go into this field. Anyway. I had Dino-Riders as a kid. NO idea how they got lost over the decades but I wish I still had them. I had Monoclonius, Quetzalcoatlus, I think Torosaurus and maybe the T. rex (or at least the same mould used on the T. rex). One day, I'd love to collect them again.
Dino Riders, my fav toy line to collect. I still remember seeing the toy commercials for the first time, before the tv show, and I wanted those toys so bad. Great childhood memories.
Dino Riders had a huge impact on my life. About the time the show and toys came out, I was 9 years old and just got diagnosed with Crohns disease. I got hospitalized shortly after to run some tests and my dad bought me my first Dino Rider toy, the Triceratops one. That is the core memory that I share with my Chrons diagnosis and the show/toys. Just wish now that I did not ever get rid of these, and all my other collections.
Man i had the trex and the triceratops. Got them for christmas one year bc i was hardcore into dinosaurs, just like every little boy in the late 80s lol.
If Mattel wont do dino riders even if exclusives on mattelcreations like they do Motu Origins now... then license it out to Neca or Super7 etc. Had almost all the toys except never even saw the T-Rex in stores to even ask my mother or grandparents as a kid.. And somehow some way they just were gone out of my closet . My mother has mental issues and I ocd about cleaning is one of them and she's been known to throw stuff away without thinking or checking what it is so I think that was it but OH MY GERD Im even more upset now than back then with how much money these cost today.
Hey man, sorry to hear that. Yeah the same thing happened to a lot of us i.e a family member threw out our toy collection. You can always collect now but.
@2ndChanceToys , I have a silly question where did you purchase those cabinets with the glass sliding door for your action figures and how much do they cost.
I REALLY hope Mattel (who owns the rights now) realizes what a gold mine they are sitting on with Dino-Riders and revives it, BUT only if they do a classic line with the EXACT moulds used for the originals, if they still exist. They could even do film deals. The Jurassic World thing is getting WAY over-milked, so it's time, I think, to look at Dino-Riders again.
ok here is the kick starter....dino riders figures and equipment packs so you can take modern Mettle Jurassic Park/World Dino's and make your own...really Mettle is ran buy morons if they cant put this kind of thing together themselves....... stretch goal to include motorization
Very similar story for me, grew up wanting to be a Paleontologist (I was the kid yelling at staff members for mispronouncing dinosaur names at the natural history museums). Absolutely loved the toys, had all of them until they got to Ice Age. The first 2 episodes of the cartoon I had on VHS and watched them almost daily. I actually never saw the rest of the series until I was in my late teens and found a bootleg dvd at a convention. I feel that all worked out as the quality of the cartoon fell off greatly starting with the 3rd episode. Still one of my all time favorite toy lines and I still have a fair sized collection and would absolutely back a proper remake of the toys and my daughter is a fan of them now too.
Mattel "kind of" did something with Dino Riders in their kids oriented Imaginext line. I don't think there was a story to it, but various humans riding dinosaurs with high-tech saddles and weapons? Seems a pretty clear homage to me...
I remember pissing my parents off because every time we went to rent videos (think these were on beta not even vhs yet) I would only rent dino riders and bravestarr 😂. I loved these shows and the toys were amazing
Loved Dino Riders. Always wanted to the large dinosaur sets but unfortunately couldnt get my parents to buy them. But i did get several of the smaller sets and figure two packs.
Hey man, I was wondering if I could use some footage from this video for a video I'm working on. You will be credited clearly on screen and I will link the videos I use in the description. Thanks!
Appreciate the comment before doing it, we are fine with that as long as we are credited and linked too, also please shout out the store, if you don’t mind, it would be Greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I think to recall in one of last years coverings about New York or San Diego they presented something similar in 1/12, not the brand, but the concept. Cab't tell you the name of the company, maybe you'll have google luck.
I remember those dino rider minis. And didn't care for them. Especially since they were not in scale with other miniature lines that were out at the time. I do remember the whole set was like $60 or so dollars. But would've been nice if they had instead tried with the t-rex and triceratops, just without the electronics. Would've ordered both in a heartbeat.
It’d be awesome to see a more modern take on the dinosaurs themselves but to keep an homage to the old line with similar color schemes, armor, and figures. Kinda like what Neca did with the Aliens line.
I think the same scale as the current jurassic world toys... even use the dino molds.. full articulation like the current Jurassic world toys figures and dinos. That way also if you wanted to populate your display more you can just get more Jurassic world dinos.
the cyberzoic but cheaper, or aim it at adults with toys based on the original designs since i doubt the molds for the tyco line still exist. the problem is i know what they would do, take the jurassic molds tweek them a little and add armor/guns and a rider and charge 1.5 to 2X as much as the jurassic version.
I would buy them for sure if they released a similar size modern variant. I also am not concerned about electronics. We couldn't afford the mas children, would love to own them now.
Dino Riders, I still have them. I think I have about 7/ 8, even one of the Ice Age ones. I lovedddd them so much as a 10 year old kid. I mean, dino s and shooting laser. What s not to love
I'm almost done with Dino riders, I have Ice age, T rex & such. A favorite line of mine. I just need that damn Brontosaurus, then Series 3. being so expensive now. Remaining 4 I will work on one a year now. I think in a way Tyco was trying to get into the action figures assortment.
Yea we seen those at JoeFest , Chance even bought their kickstarter Trex, based on the prototype colors of the Dino riders TRex that even included a box in that retro style, they were awesome
ok here is the kick starter....dino riders figures and equipment packs so you can take modern Mettle Jurassic Park/World Dino's and make your own...really Mettle is ran buy morons if they cant put this kind of thing together themselves....... stretch goal to include motorization

Dino-Riders was my favourite Toy and Cartoon as a kid. I had a number of them and I re-bought a few as an adult.
Dino Riders, my fav toy line to collect. I still remember seeing the toy commercials for the first time, before the tv show, and I wanted those toys so bad. Great childhood memories.
Dino Raiders was one of the best 80's toy lines. Amazing toys!

Loved these as a kid...wish they still made them LOL
One of my childhood faves. Also I love these kinds of videos, I hope you keep making them.
I love Dino Riders. Great video.
This is the kind of content I wanted from this channel. Good storytelling and analysis from an expert with personal connections. Good stuff.
Appreciate it!
Visited your store a few years ago when I was in ATL. Great store and you gave me some good deals. Nice to see you guys on RUclips 💪
Awesome! Thank you!

Fun fact, the Toys Story T-rex is based on this one.
Awesome figure line and it needs to come back
Love Dinoriders! Just got volume 2 on vhs last week 😎
This is one of the coolest toy lines. I only had one piece from it, but so awesome!
Dino riders forever!!!!
Awesome video and summary of my favourite toy line! Just beautiful toys for Dino lovers 🦖😎
Thank you
Oh shit, y’all are in Marietta. I’ll definitely have to stop by next time we’re near Atlanta.
Mattel "kind of" did something with Dino Riders in their kids oriented Imaginext line. I don't think there was a story to it, but various humans riding dinosaurs with high-tech saddles and weapons? Seems a pretty clear homage to me...
Right! I remember buying a few of those sets for my son. Reminded me of Dino Riders
I remember pissing my parents off because every time we went to rent videos (think these were on beta not even vhs yet) I would only rent dino riders and bravestarr 😂. I loved these shows and the toys were amazing
Great video. Loved that toy line. Why doesn't Mattel do a kickstarter thing for a reissued walking t rex? I would sure be on board for that.
the Smithsonian dinosaur line was also sold in some stores
Man If this came back, or a similar concept at least I would be livid
Boy, oh boy, let me tell you about cyberzoic .
Loved Dino Riders. Always wanted to the large dinosaur sets but unfortunately couldnt get my parents to buy them. But i did get several of the smaller sets and figure two packs.
Great video I have a couple of the dino rider guys looking for the dinos still

I loved this so much as a kid
In Germany, back then Dino Riders, MASK and Starcom were competing for shelf space, I went MASK.
I would love if we could somehow get a Dino-Riders in 6 inch scale, but I doubt it'll ever happen.
I think to recall in one of last years coverings about New York or San Diego they presented something similar in 1/12, not the brand, but the concept. Cab't tell you the name of the company, maybe you'll have google luck.
In the '80s, I could only afford a few so bought the big ones. I still have them. 😊

Man I always wanted the Rex. I did have the mammoth and the ground sloth. You have a kot of stuff. We could talk haha.
How Do You all Feel Mattel Should Approach Modern Day Dino-Rider's?

i didnt know any of this. very interesting
That's Why We are Here! Lol
3 lines that should be revived and revitalized, Dinoriders, M.A.S.K. and Wheeled Warriors.
It looks like you have multiples in your case, why not just a few of each, so there's room for different items?
This is Old Footage Now, We have already done that lol 😁
I had the T-Rex. Good times.
All Mattel needs to do is bring back Dinoriders as part of Jurassic Park
Cept disney owns dinoriders now last i heard. They were gona do a live action movie years ago but canceled it cuz of jurassic world
Bring them all to Joe Fest Please
for the Most Part, Almost all of them will be,
I had all growing up.
I remember having these as a kid loved them
I'm almost done with Dino riders, I have Ice age, T rex & such. A favorite line of mine. I just need that damn Brontosaurus, then Series 3. being so expensive now. Remaining 4 I will work on one a year now. I think in a way Tyco was trying to get into the action figures assortment.
I had all , the brontosaurus and trex. The legs get messed up tho
There is one new thing coming that will compare with these similar but different. Cyberzoic Backer online. Beasts of the Mesozoic & Cenezoic.
Yea we seen those at JoeFest , Chance even bought their kickstarter Trex, based on the prototype colors of the Dino riders TRex that even included a box in that retro style, they were awesome
@@2ndChanceToys Great 😃
I haven’t done cyberzoic but I have a lot of the Raptors Tyrannosaur series and ceratopsians.
@Stormycloud21 they had one cyberzoic prototype there at JoeFest, I don’t think we got footage of it unfortunately
@@2ndChanceToys They got pictures and videos online of them. Cool 😎 to get to see in person before they are released.
I will sum up DinoRiders in seconds. Back then... greatest toy that ever existed! You can end the video now. 😤
Best. Comment. Ever
Show the dinosaurs bro
Our previous video has them out of the box
I would say Dino-riders & StarCom have to be two of my favorite alternate collections. 😊
ok here is the kick starter....dino riders figures and equipment packs so you can take modern Mettle Jurassic Park/World Dino's and make your own...really Mettle is ran buy morons if they cant put this kind of thing together themselves....... stretch goal to include motorization
