    I'm surprised they don't have a series that shows you the most common situations you'd use these in. Or a series that shows us the most extreme situations these knives have gone through. They seem to be an invaluable tool to own.

    • @TheReal1953
      @TheReal1953 Год назад +4

      Seems like there is a 'gap' as to how the tools were initially designed and how they are most commonly used by owners. Take the hook for example....never really seen a factory explanation on how to use it. The steel used is soft.....so only light use of the tools will preserve the knife. Other multitools have more durable attachments. Still, nothing draws the eye like a red Swiss gadget tool. I've been collecting these since the '70s. I have all of them with almost zero loss.....but you have to baby them a bit. Or, just consider them sacrificial in an emergency.

      @@TheReal1953Rumor has it that the hook can withstand a weight of 250 Lbs before failure. I don't know how accurate that is, but considering the quality of Victorinox knives, I think it may be possible.

    • @TheReal1953
      @TheReal1953 Год назад +2

      @@Zeke43701 Well, I'd say that's a pretty neat trick to pick up 250 lbs with one hand.

      @@AndreiChera Found that...thanks! I think these knives only have the potential to do some of the things in the video. By that I mean they're not really suited to do so, but 'could' in a pinch. As a young adult back in the day, I pushed these knives hard as far as using the screwdrivers and Phillips. I could feel the knives flex to the breaking point. I was happy when devoted tool knives came out and took the pressure off these little guys. The original Swiss Tool is a force of nature and I've had Leathermans.

The Dewalt 20v is just as light as the competitor's 12v. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance and battery life of this tool. As far as oscillators go, they just aren't very ergonomic tools. The dewalt oscillators have an offset handle that do make them somewhat more ergonomic than the competitors' oscillators.

    The thing going for it is that it sat in a non climate controlled trailer thing for years, and is mostly just stiff with a bit of corrosion.
    Meanwhile, my Dollar Tree special sat in a car and got a "nice" corrosion patina on 75% of it.
