I am SHOCKED! I have watched like 20 videos over like 2 years, but your video finally broke me out of mysterium as far as trim sheets go. And I don't even use Maya... I guess it really does come down to how a person teaches something... I appreciate you!
I really have no idea how to make trims look good in terms of BaseColor and Roughness. I think grunges and dirt can break the tiling or be too repetitive and obvious, so you can't have that fine amount of details with trims I guess. If I am right in that matter, what are the options? Decals and vertex painting?
Thank you for this video. I was wondering if you could answer a question I have. I'm building a scene with maya and it'll be fairly decent size with multiple assets. Some of it I can use this route (trim sheet) but a lot of the other assets I don't want to do that. Do I just revert to the unfold uv methods or maybe udims for them? There is everything from a small metal box to a large ship and everything in-between. Thank you.
The solution to the distrorted texture is to add more edgeloops along the UV. The long part, not the short side. It straighten up the texture.
