  • With chronic illness comes all kinds of not fun things. One of those things is weight fluctuations. It's an uncomfortable topic but quite frankly I want to be honest about the things that happen with a Chronic Illness.

I've been on both sides ... losing over a 100 pounds and being told "oh, you look so great!!" but I had no control over it, then of course I started gaining and gained the weight back ... so it sucks ... having to have so many sizes of clothes ... when I was losing, I had to buy smaller stuff when my large clothes started falling off of me, and I gave away most of the larger stuff. Then I gained it back, none of the smaller stuff fits, and I've had to "resupply" my wardrobe. It sucks. I am a yo-yo who made no changes to diet or exercise and my weight just reacts to meds and who knows what else. I agree, it should not be a topic of conversation with anyone but immediate family and your doctor, and even then only as it pertains to health. On another note, you look beautiful no matter your size ... great complexion and dazzling smile!

Thank you. You are too sweet, that means a lot. I also have been struggling with clothes. I’ve put all my small clothes in a box in the garage and if I still can’t wear them in a year they’ll get donated.

Next time someone asks you about what meds you take and the only reason they ask is to be mean or snoppy, not caring and helpful, ask them, "why you need to know?? That's personal and between me and my doctor."
It throws people off when you don't spill personal stuff.
Long story but my husband went through similar. It all but nearly destroyed him, knowing people thought he was faking a bunch of health issues.

That’s very good advice. Thank you for sharing. I’m so sorry your husband had to go through that, that breaks my heart.

I've put on a lot of weight in the last year since a medication change. It says on the information sheet 'may cause excessive weight gain' so I expected it. My best friend has too because of the medication for her brain tumour. We're still the same people inside, regardless! Sending Spoonie Hugs and Love ( ( ( x 😊 x ) ) ) 💜

    Has low carb helped?

It has helped, yes. But I believe a lot of my weight issues was caused by the medications I’m on currently.
