- This time I tried working with colored pencils on sandpaper. I hope you like this one as well.
I used FC Polychromos and Staedtler colored pencils and a waterproof sandpaper with a finer 1000 grain.

Love this - I’m currently drawing a butterfly so it was such a great tutorial to watch - have picked up so many tips by watching 😊
It has so much life. I find your drawings not just realistic but having inner life. Beautiful.

0:55 Exactly! This was a revelational statement, I fully agree, and very happy, the waxy/oily nature of colored pencils make them a lot more versatile, honestly, than soft pastel or pastel pencils or even oil pastels.
And what is even more important: the result of a color pencil work on sandpaper looks gorgeous when looked at in real life. In a video or photo, you cannot see the difference, but when you hold it in your hands, wow. Of course the "cost" is that this paper eats up your pencils, but the result is brutally awesome.
1:24 Yes, Yes, yes, exactly, another big benefit: colors can be layers practically in any order and combination, exactly as you explained.
After so many months of seeking the perfect drawing/painting medium, thank to your revolutionary videos, I may have found the ultimate medium?
I love it! And have gone to my local hardware store to get some sand paper. So much cheaper than the sanded papers!
800 to 1000 grit works best for me with colored pencils.
So realistic and detailed. You are truely a pencil Maestro 👍 question: do you fixate your sandpaper drawn art with a spray (or something like that)? How do you prevent that the colors won’t stain?
A little bit. A light coat from a foot and a half distance
That flower! Absolutely stunning. How do you seal or protect your art on sandpaper?
I normally use a Conte fixative spray. Two light coats.
