Like him or not he wrote some of the most important and memorable solos in Metal/Rock history. He’s as deserving of this guitar as anyone alive and to his credit, plays it every live performance

Kirk loads it up with so much gain you can’t hear the guitar at all 😅 when Gary was using it he’d use the volume control so masterfully you’d hear the subtleties of it. I personally feel it should have gone to a blues man or similar

I'm kind of indifferent on the whole initials thing. That seems like a useless comment but I feel like people are so one or the other. I get why people are mad, I get why people aren't. I also think it's a piece of music history. People who say "Gary Moore didn't have to carve his initials into it" confuse me because. Didn't Gary swap the tuners out for what they're at right now? Didn't Gary swap the knobs? In Gary's words, "I'm playing the damn thing, I'm not collecting it." and I think Kirk is doing just that. He's playing it on stage, he's making music with it. That guitar will probably be the sound of many Metallica records to come. Kirk isn't telling the story of Greeny because it's a collectors piece, he's telling the story of Greeny to people because it has a story, and stories should be told. Kirk paid for it and now it's in the possession of someone who's going to play it and make music with it, that's a start. People need to start caring less, the guitar sounds the same, the guitar plays the same, it's getting used and loved and taken care of. Damn.

they were showing pictures of this and he was recounting maintenance work he did and he was asked about the damage, and he said that he made his guitars to be played, and this damage was their story every guitar like a book.
So nah, whennyou make your first million, and buy an iconic guitar, you'll probably think: "This guitar is MINE!" rather than worrying about history.

I like Gary Moore with his red strat more..this guitar sound is no different than my Les Paul standard Plus and many Les Paul out there..if you do blind test this guitar with 10 other Les Paul would you know which one is greeny? Gary Moore is a fantastic player, he make this guitar sings beautifully..but..he also makes other guitar sings beautifully too.. Gary Moore is the God, and the guitars was his prophets to spread his words ..but many people end up worshipping the prophets

It's from an Authentic "Lonestar Belt Buckle" I played in a local band in NJ from 1990-1996, and some random bar patron gave it to me, a Lonestar belt buckle is for Lonestar Beer, it has a Bottle Opener built into it on the back of the Buckle.

One Christmas he came to visit family in Weston super mare and he bought Corey a little acoustic... We tried desperately to tune it without bothering Gary. He took it from us and tuned it whilst playing some bad ass pull offs the bloke is and always will be a bit of a god and sorely missed

@@scotttam7491 The amp, pedals if used, the pickups, the pick and the player are the only things that affect the tone of an electric guitar. You can easily recreate the Greeny tone, minus the individual approach of the player. Your playing style will add its own flavor.

Kirk shouldnt even be associated with this guitar, its not famous because of kirk and as a historical item shouldnt be called the hammet guitar. Kirk seems kinda like a narcissist who didnt get enough attention so needs to do this... sad. It will always be Greeny and never the Hammy.
Yeah it's unfortunate it ended up in his hands and he has to carve his initials on it like he's still in middle school. Though I've seen him play les Paul's, he's not famous for playing them. I'd rather this guitar went to Slash's collection or Joe Perry before it went to Hammett. Hell I could name dozens that should have got it.
