In this video guitar lesson series of videos you will learn Metallica's biggest hit "Enter Sandman" note-for-note is an extremely easy to follow format. I will guide you through all of the rhythm guitar sections and lead fills PLUS take you note-for-note through the now legendary solo by Kirk Hammett.
It's hard to believe that this song is a couple of decades old now, it still sounds so fresh and exciting today. This is the song that catapulted Metallica to the status of the biggest heavy metal band ever and was the first single off of the classic Black Album.
The rhythm guitar parts to this song can be studied by just about any level of player and are a great workout in techniques such as palm muting, sliding, arpeggiated picking and string skipping. The solo is a textbook Kirk Hammett tour de force of fast pentatonics and two string arpeggios.
So go ahead and take a swing at this great track by Metallica, you will be glad you did. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!

i'l probably play this on about 5. I picked a guitar up 3-4 months ago. i perfected the rest of the song in an hour but this is my first ever solo.

I struggle with solo stuff and I'm only a beginner-ish myself, but what helps me, is learn a small section of the lick inside out at slow slow speeds and learn to play that small section slow but very importantly in rhythm, then speed up until its good to go. Then repeat. It does take ages to get it up to speed and clean but its a great way to learn stuff. With accuracy comes speed. Get the muscle memory and strength first!

Thats generally what you do anyway, to guitarists accuracy and timing is better than speed, ANYONE can play fast, but not everyone can be accurate and play fast

For some reason a g&l legacy witch I have has 22 frets but a fender strat only has 21. Why is that if they are basically the same thing. I mean Leo Fender designed both of them.

I believe somewhere an asian madman is able to do this on an ukulele.. somewhere..
On the arpeggio part at around 6:00 he's saying that you should hit the 6th string with an upstroke and the 5th with a downstroke but I can only do the contrary (downstroke the 6th and upstroke the 5th, thus my pick is between the strings. Is my technique a disadvantage?

My pinky gives my speakers cancer... it is so hard...also standing up soloing is impossible... (1,5 years now of playing - never played before) ... i think i played this solo now over 500 times and still i can't get the speed. I sometimes get it with 75% Speed. But this is so fast..
