I have been listening to his music for 50 years and I have come to the conclusion that Carlos Santana is not only a great Mexican and American musician who has pioneered an innovative fusion of rock and Latin American music. In my opinion Carlos is an exceptional person: he has an extraordinary talent for creativity and self-expression, like many other famous writers, poets, actors, singers and musicians. He is positive, vital, optimistic and passionate. I feel that the warm and vital energy that he transmits with his music is born within him and is heated in the universe to give serenity and joy to those who listen to it. Heartfelt thanks Carlos

It’s all about the money these days. People with real talent know they will be screwed by the music industry that some of the less naive refuse to become apart of it. We see studio musicians that played with single named artists that doesn’t get any credit for their creative input in helping the named artist/singer achieve great success. Case in point was Butch Trucks, drummer for the Allman Brothers Band well his drumming was such a unique style that had it not been his drumming, the songs you today would have been a lot different. The only money Butch made was when he played on stage like a lot of other great musicians. Butch got tired and couldn’t keep working to sustain himself so he took his life at 69.

@@deaf19830 if you're using Butch as an example, that was those (old) days, not these days. If you don't get songwriting credits/publishing, you usually only get paid when touring.

We all die - but some of us shouldn't. May Carlos Santana live as long as it's possible for a human being to live. He has overcome so much from his childhood - things I understand on a personal level - but he remains a rock - a giant. The day he dies, I will mourn as much as I have for a brother - just as I did when they announced John Lenon was murdered - had to pull off the highway and weep...
Long live Carlos Santana, and may his music never fade away.

Are you saying that there is a certain amount of notes that one must limit oneself to in order to play with “soul” ? If you don’t enjoy McLoughlin’s playing, that’s one thing. But the suggestion that more notes means less soul has no validity.

I grew up on this music, and it's always been a fave, going all the way back to the first studio record (with the lion). I have to say I liked the earlier and rougher stuff better (if you like this music look up Santana at Tanglewood - the original band with Mike Shrieve, Gregg Rolie, etc. etc.), but the man has not lost one bit of quickness and talent after all this time. Remarkable.

On top of that, I invited my widowed mother to her one and only rock concert in I think it was 1982. Santana at Pine Knob on the lawn. She and Dad used to dance to a cover of Evil Ways at the local bar.

That organ-player is a lot sounding like the great Greg Rolie the original organist with Carlos in the 60's and beyond, but he even does things even beyond Rolie (Rolie, is great though), I can see that he is schooled in blues and JAZZ! Amazing! And the band: Wow! They are putting 100+% into the music-INCREDIBLE!!

One big difference between Carlos Santana and his Woodstock friends is that he is still alive and playing better than ever; geezus, maestro Carlos Santana. Yes?

I feel lucky I just found this concert release.
I'm fan of Carlos since Woodstock records were on sale in Austria, my uncle had one of the earliest copies available.
Carlos is not only a performing artist, his creativity surpassing lots of music writers of his time
who disagree doesn't know anything about music

The very best Latin American guitarist ever and fantastic band. I have been swaying to Carlos Santana for more than 50 years and have been mesmorised since I first saw them perform live in Birmingham (UK) in the 1970s and have ever since. Nothing can ever match this music. It is soul food.

La magia del mejor guitarrista de México, Latinoamericana y uno de los mejores del mundo. Con sus ritmos afroantillamos, es un genio sin duda. Yo lo vengo escuchando desde Tijuana con su maestro Javier Batiz. Viva Santana.

Prayers for a peaceful healthy recovery for Carlos having just had heart surgery. ❤️🦢🙏🏼 Dave ...thankyou...so beautiful. Ah..I love Carlos. HIs music takes you somewhere with a big smile. John, what a treat. 😊 Karl..a legend. The brass instruments are so good too. I hope I can see you all play again one day. I feel guilty not knowing all the musicians names but thankyou from the bottom of my heart.
