It’s very sad and can be hard to understand unless you’ve been there.

Oscar sounds like the classic case abuser, obsessive, controlling, extreme anger and jealousy, emotionally abusive and manipulative, if you lived with someone like that, and you see what he can do when he gets angry than you would understand why it's not that easy to just leave...this young lady tried to tell the truth about him when she left him, but people called her all sorts of horrible things, and still went on thinking poor little Oscar can do no wrong. Then several months later, Reeva got killed, Sam realizes how lucky she was because she knows it could have easily been her that he killed...I think she finally saw an opportunity to leave when Oscar became interested in someone else (Reeva) and therefore was no longer focused on her so much like he had been before, when she had probably been too afraid of him to leave. I also believe that Reeva actually had the courage to stand up to him and leave this asshole a lot sooner than his other girlfriends did, and he killed her that night because of it. Unfortunately, sometimes the worst fears do happen when someone tries to leave an abuser, like how Reeva lost her life.
I agree in thinking that Reeva would not have tolerated his abuse, if it were the case an he was abusive. I think Oscar might have felt threatened in a completely different way. His worth and value had been put under threat and that would've have evoked novel emotions within him that he had not felt before due to being so used to women being putty in his hands. Those emotions flooded to overwhelm him and as we know people deal with emotions in all different ways, particularly new ones that they've never felt, Oscar responded in a whole new lethal and devastating way.
Samantha shouldn't have been as stupid as to cheat on Oscar just for revenge because she believed it when she was told he'd been cheating on her while in Europe. Lies told to her by, wait for it, friends of Reeva. They'd probably still be together now and she'd be happy as it's obvious she was in all the photos with him. Cheaters are always paranoid that the same is being done to them. That's how I ultimately found that I'd been cheated on. My ex grew obsessive about the possibility i might cheat on him. I never had and never would and nothing about my behaviour changed. In the end I knew it was a guilty conscience. He knew he was doing it but didn't want it done to him. Got myself outta there pronto and never looked back. And I was 100% correct, he had been cheating on me, with 2 other women.

Cheaters are always paranoid that the same is being done to them. That's how I ultimately found that I'd been cheated on. My ex grew obsessive about the possibility i might cheat on him. I never had and never would and nothing about my behaviour changed. In the end I knew it was a guilty conscience. He knew he was doing it but didn't want it done to him. Got myself outta there pronto and never looked back. And I was 100% correct, he had been cheating on me, with 2 other women.
