I'm 57 now and had a dream last night about this little greasy spoon I frequented with my father when I was 14 in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. The first thing I did every time was to play Running bare on the jukebox, to this day I remember the lyrics. Found memories.
I'm from Hartsville. I watched Jim Nesbit on TV before school. Remember the "Clacker" balls incident which got him banned for a time from the TV. Runnin' Bare is the best. He was something. Must have been. I remember him after about 40 years now. tnesbitt100: you are indeed lucky to have had him for a dad. Best wishes to you and your family.
My Dad had a Jim Nesbitt 8-Track. We would listen to it driving to Shreveport to see my Grandparents. I can't hear these and not think of driving through Central Louisiana!
I used to put this tune of the jukebox at Wally & Helen's, a little backwoods bar near Lake Redstone, Wisconsin. Still makes me laugh! Great job, and to his kinfolk, yes, we remember him!
JUST AS GOOD AS GOLD!!...Thank you soooo much for posting and sharing this "rarely heard anymore" lil' country ditty that peaked at #20 back during the spring of 1970 (this also was Jim's last top 40 single)...I thoroughly enjoyed it!...(and the sound quality is EXCELLENT too!!)...Take care! :)
I was about to give up on this ever showing up. He had a lot of solitical stuff in the 60s such as "Please Mr. Kennedy", "Lookin for More in 64", "Still Alive in 65".
@vicpat60 Hey, I played the drums for him during that time. I lived in Bishopville, SC. What did you play? I played with hime all over. I remember playing in Dillon and down at Myrtle Beach. When did Jim pass?
This is my grandpa no lie that's my moms dad so of course her maden name is nesbitt. I swear to god and I wouldn't swear to god if it wasn't true because that is a bad sin. So go ahead and curse at me all u want but the wilberger family knows for a FACT that he is my moms dad!SO.............…........…WHAT NOW,PUNK!(reading this)

I love this song! I remember early mornings with my mother pressing my father's fatigues, and this show was on the TV. Boy that takes me back!
My dad played with Jim and I have fond memories of them. RIP Mr. Nesbitt. We miss you.

My aunt's ex-husband used to sing this song to us at Christmas time on his acoustic guitar when I was around 3 to 4 years old. My first memory lol
I had forgotten about this song - brings back some fun memories of my childhood.

@vicpat60 Also, I remember how he loved to sing Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.
@arkobi
Please share the "clacker balls" story with us. I never heard that one, but it sounds great.
