Hello can you help me please make distinction between these parts : JB4 Wireless Mobile Smart Phone Kit vs MHD. Are these devices used to achieve same thing ?
Thanks for this video! I just installed a black 5” ARM fmic on my 2011 335i coupe. Your review and stats of the ARM encouraged me to go with this one and your installation video was super helpful. Thanks again!
What a deal for an intercooler. Was looking to go VRSF, but I am going to upgrade the twins and would need to upgrade the intercooler anyways so I'm going to go ARM.
Must be some major quality control issues. I ordered this intercooler based on your recommendation and the internal welds were so poor the intercooler hoses would bottom out about a quarter inch from being able to clamp. I'm currently looking for a silicone set to upgrade the left and right to avoid having to scrap the intercooler because BOTH SIDES had this lip inside with welding bulges. Read on several forms of MANY people getting this intercooler and their hoses not able to seat. You got lucky my friend. I love your content but this intercooler is a buy at your own risk and be prepaired with a silicone hose upgrade or a serious Dremel with some carbide bits to clean the inner welds.
Very well put together I agree ive been having the same troubles I bought all the silicon and it still barely will go in there not to mention my fan sitting on the brackets of the intercooler
Thank you for this. I would of never thought of a black one till I read a comment from here and saw the link. All I do is black and blue for my engine.
Nice one dude ..i went with Active Autowerke its blacked out with polished aluminum tips..had to cut a thin layer of the inner bumper but it was great and fast, now my temps are real stable and don't go above 220 after a hard run all day!!!
Hi mate love watching your videos helps me to do my 335i. Can you tell me the intercooler what was the depth as I think there is 5" , 7" and a 7.5" which requires modification to the car behind the bumper.
Your not alone mine have horrible welding bulges I'm having to order silicone hose upgrades because neither side would go in even after using a Dremel to try to clean the inner welds out to keep the hoses from bottoming out a quarted inch from seating
Hey wat up bother I have a question I did the same procedure on mine but the sea clips were just a little bit to lose how do I know if I have a boost leak or is it possible to have a boost leak through there to the joints of the c clips from the intercooler and the pipe
Great video for that price i think im goimg witj this intercooler . I was considering vrsf or mishimoto 7" but i think 5" will do . Keep up the good work !
Not so easy on an E92 bought that same fmic from ARM. Without moving the fan no way it fits unless you remove the bumper. I moved the fan up and was able to mount it but, took forever. Those inlets drove me nuts too. And the amount of dirt and rocks that came out with the oem ic dang crazy. So it can be done the E92 must not have the same toom as that E90.
Great video, this was the easiest, best explanation. All the other fit FMIC had me scared to even try, I will be ordering mine. Will it be pretty much the same procedure for a 2009 345i. As always your video is much appreciated.
Hi bmw fanatic I hope you can answer my question. I have a N54 2007 335i and was looking to upgrade my intercooler, however there are a lot of intercoolers and I’m wondering why you decided to go with the arm motor sports. I only have the burger Motorsport intake as the one you’ve shown to have and I’m confused why you didn’t decide on the intercooler from burger Motorsports. If you read this far thank you huge fan.
Was having trouble installing mine with the o-rings that come with the intercooler so I ended up using the oem ones, not ideal but was able to get the hoses to seal at least.
At 2:10, it looks like that wagon is on the ceiling! lol It's gotta be the reflection from the car. Anyway, can't wait to see how much this helps your IAT's.
Hey! A quick reply would be great right now! I’ve just fitted my fmic and when I connected the bmw quick connects there is a very small gap in between the surfaces very much like yours! Is this okay or does that mean it is not seated correctly? Any help would be great thanks
so intercooler just held into plastic thats crazy so I guess if it comes out it will fall onto belly pan :-) ??? where do you get those fastenings from
This might be a stupid question and off topic, so I have a jb4 tune already, but I'm wondering but can't find an answer anywhere.. can I run a JB+ and JB4 at the same time? I mean the JB+ just connects to the sensor... will help my tune having both at the same time? Please I can't find an answer anywhere
Hey I need your help and I trust your opinion and content so I’m getting the catless down pipes from Arm and I’m getting the charge pipe no blow off valve tho so should I get the n54 oem dv’s charge pipe or just the n54 flange ? And what’s the difference anyone ? Please help !!
I am really late here but I bought the 7" fmic from ARM and I got it into place and everything was going smoothly until I got to hooking the hose inlets back up I couldnt get them to go in no matter how hard I tried. me and my friend sat there pushing and twisting them for like 4 hours, we gave up and then I tried again later that day and I got one hose in but I could only do it by having it off the mounting screw does anyone know an easier way to mount the intercooler and put the hose in? Maybe removing the rad fan?
hey mate do you know if this fits n55 too? their website has n54/55 however i thought the inlets hotside was different?? and even the cp side ? i asked but they never responded. would you know? cheers thanks
Remember to double check the inlet and outlet with a caliper. If you buy an offbrand sub $300 intercooler just save yourself the trouble and grind wheel down the inside diameter. Chances are the cheap CNC that they use wasn't calibrated and quality control seems to be a common theme. I bought a $380 boost monkey intercooler and the passenger side needed to be grinded down for it to fit finally. For some reason the deeper into the outlet the less concave it was so it was shallow. Picked up a $20 dremel set from walmart and installed it all within half an hour and no boost leaks. I used a very thin layer of gasket maker above the O-ring just in case but it's snug.
Once again brother, awesome video. I've been meaning to do this mod for some time now. I see that you still have your factory Caster bushes installed in the vehicle. Have you thought about going nolathane bushes in the front? The car feels so much better when you do. Maybe that could be one of your next mods??
Have a look into it. From my experience bushes are the achilles heel of BMW. I've changed the bushes in my 335i and the car feels somehow more connected to the wheels and the feedback you get from the road now just seems to enhance the complete driving experience. It also gives you improved braking feel too. And to top it all of, you get a lifetime warranty on these bushes =D
Your not alone mine have horrible welding bulges I'm having to order silicone hose upgrades because neither side would go in even after using a Dremel to try to clean the inner welds out to keep the hoses from bottoming out a quarted inch from seating
Why is there no option for the 535i ? it's frustrating having the exact same engine in a slightly bigger car with alot less options on after market parts compared to the 335i . Anyways Thanks for your informative videos !
your intercooler requirement is related to how big your turbo is. factory turbo do 5" stepped, upgraded turbo do 7". Bigger the intercooler more turbo lag you introduce to your system.
Try moving your fan up just put that same Arm Fmic on my e92 today super tight fit but if you can get that fan moved up you should be able to get it in. He rips out a plastic part from the passenger side that needs to come out. Mine took 3 hours on my 08 e92 fought that fan and those inlets are no fun. Its not as easy as people say. Good luck feel your pain.
@@sammyjames1929 awwww man, so upon removal there was a few things that I didnt mention, I went with the upgrade IC hose, which made things much tighter, but that wasn't the kicker....my dumbass took out the radiator mounting bracket which well.....allowed the ic to hang about 4 inches down, so yea....but having the upgraded hoes made it longer than I wanted because the aluminum pipe connecting to that rubber hose was a dick to take off, so all and all it sits flush now!
jack car up from back first before rear wheels. The front will jack up also. place jack stand in front then either jack the other side up are jack up the middle underneath subframe place jack stand where you want it
I have a 2011 335is Coupe that is probably lower than your sedan. My floor jack is a good inch too high to get under the jacking points. I'm thinking of making a pair of ramps to lift it just high enough to get the jack in place. And to think, I didn't lower my Z3 because I didn't want to go through with it what my recently-acquired 3-series is putting me through now. I'm laughing at myself!!! Great info, My Friend! And, yes, I am a subscriber! Semper Fi
Rrudy DeDogg There’s a lady who does some videos (TV Tara I think). She just drives her car on to some 2x4 pieced of wood to allow the jack to fit under the car. Cheap and easy.
You didnt mention what the weather was like during these tests? Thats a little more important than being on the same street. If the first test was done in 105F weather and this was done in 70F.. thats gona make a diff.
😃👍 thank you very much sir save me a little bit of time and money. You should change the name or add tagging this works on 2013 n55 X1 exactly the same.

U made 435whp with just downpipes, chargepipe and jb4? I have chargepipe, bov, downpipes, intakes and jb4 with mhd backend flash and only made 372whp and 406wtq, how?
CLICK HERE for my BMW Fanatic Amazon recommendations that I’ve tested on this channel! Thanks for the support! 👉🏻www.amazon.com/shop/bmwfanatic
BMW Fanatic what size intercooler was this, 5 or 7? Thanks
is that the 5 or 7 inch ?
@@S_H_92. It's a 5, the 7 sticks out below and you have to modify the front spoiler to make it fit.

Great DIY as always Lee! Looking forward to seeing the difference in temps the FMIC made!
Simply Car Things thanks man! Yeah same here 👍🏻
Another great install. I did the MHD JB4 backend flash right after you posted the DIY, the pull is crazy.
GrandDaddy Clutch Yes it is!!!!

Perfect install guide your are trully the best teacher when it comes to bmw related things, great work thanks man!
Nice! Thanks for the great, super fast DIY.

BMW Fanatic yes sir!
this is all i need to go to Mhd stage 2+ , w/E85 :) hopefully my Christmas gift
Nice I’ll be sure to follow more of your videos really informative and easy diy props man👌👍

would have been nice to see you clap the hose on the passenger side as well I seem to have an issue with that side and the aftermarket hose/coupler

Awesome video DIY! Does this apply to a 535i N54 (e60) chassis? I'm a fan of BMW fanatic link!
Great video for that price i think im goimg witj this intercooler . I was considering vrsf or mishimoto 7" but i think 5" will do . Keep up the good work !
Just ordered the intercooler and charge pipe 🤤
you gotta get a small power drill for the small bolts like that.

Same for a install on a n55 2011 335i? I currently got silicone couplers on connecting from my current fmic to lower chargepipe and turbo outlet
Here to drop my daily likes, nice diy.... i am so curious to see the results.
Nice diy!

Poor fitment with mine. Sent it back. Picked up VRSF 7.5. No regrets

No point. Trust me
hey mate do you know if this fits n55 too? their website has n54/55 however i thought the inlets hotside was different?? and even the cp side ? i asked but they never responded. would you know? cheers thanks
What did you do with the 2 black o rings that came with the kit?
@bmwfanatic just wanted to know where exactly are the mounting points for the screws great helpful video by the way
Where the original screws in your factory intercooler are. You just replace the screws with these longer studs
I bought mine used anyone know where I can find those bolts ? Either online or in store
looks good!

Did u have any fitment issues at all. Great video. Going to try to do this mod soon. Thanks man.
How is the intercooler holding up?
What size is the intercooler you installed?
Will this fit a 2010 535i? It has a N54 engine as well.
Any update on this? How's it holding up
Is this a 5' or 7' intercooler? I heard the 7' you need to cut it to make it fit
Nice job. So you didn't have to cut anything, but there was that one plastic divider you had to remove?
Jarrod Smith No cutting! Just have to remove that plastic piece that you just pull out and not cut out
That looks simple enough.
Is ARM a good brand?
asif naseri They're new to the game and have shown results already on this - we'll see from my testing 😀
Mine was a horrible experience

How long before they sent your intercooler? I placed a order just curious
+eugenejackson3 it was pretty fast, less than a week if it's in stock
Can u pass smog with this upgrade?
e90_cris this just cools air you will pass. My n54 is FBO with only secondary sport cats and it passes using ethanol
Is there liquid in the intercooler? Does it need to be drained?
fondoo Nope, air to air
Yesss finally
Mohammad Zohaib Many have waited for this haha
Why did you put the stock cowl back? What happened to the BMS filters
FITZGERALDtv Ordered the M3 cowl, but then got the wrong parts sent. Trying to work that out at the moment and get it going 🙌🏻
With the M3 cowl can you remove the engine acoustic cover without removing the cowl? I assume that is the advantage of it?
BMW fanatic I can't get my arm 5 in to click in with the hoses they aren't flush and I've wiggled it all I can. Any advice?
Robert Kenney having same issue
Your not alone mine have horrible welding bulges I'm having to order silicone hose upgrades because neither side would go in even after using a Dremel to try to clean the inner welds out to keep the hoses from bottoming out a quarted inch from seating
How thick is the core? 7”?
Why did you choose ARM over let's say VRSF. Is the ARM as reliable as the VRSF?
Sareen Injean Wanted the quick connect and 30ish min install
Thats it??? I thought I would be harder...This is easier than replacing the charge pipe!!!
did you get upgraded hose?
i know im late but i’m curious if it’s worth it
Muito bom amigo, abraço aqui de Portugal
