It’s tempting to say the Canucks should, approaching this trade deadline, the buyers. What about moving on from some of their underperforming players? Just among blueliners I count Carson Soucy, Tyler Myers, Vinny Desnarhais, Derek Forbort and Noah Juulsen.
Montreal has 7 picks in the first three rounds this year with plenty of prospects to bundle up for a higher draft pick . With Laine and Demidov both on next years roster they might flip Slafkovsky since he most likely won’t be able to secure a top 6 spot with the habs next season .
Why would mtl sell when they're at the point where they want to build a winning culture Why would Ottawa buy when Biron named 4 positions where they need help/players. Steep hill to climb. Why would Calgary sell when Montreal has their 1st round pick this year Why would Canucks keep pettersson and Miller? A simple hockey trade is needed they dont need to be buyers
MTL sells because they have old UFAs and are continuing to build for the future. It would be poor asset management to keep them. Biron is right about Evans but sell the rest. Armia, Dvorak and Savard are not part of the future of this team.
Problem is who is going to waste assets on Dvorak? If they are still in the hunt Armia will be more valuable than the asset they get for him. Evans needs to be extended before the deadline. Or get maximum value for him. He will get them a 1st or a good prospect.
Montreal needs to find a way to offload Armia, Gallagher, Anderson and Dvorak. Savard will be easy. Dvorak and Armia are on expiring contracts so hopefully they can move them at the deadline as well. Anderson and Gallagher will be harder to move, I suppose they make okay 3rd liners… But they probably won’t be able to be move them until next season. They definitely shouldn’t be trying to acquire much more than young prospects or draft picks.
Calgary sells to fuck over Montréal. Finish in the bottom 10 and Montréal gets the Florida Pick. Hopefully calgary doesnt sell. Finish outside the bottom 10 and Habs get their early 1st round Pick
Montreal are really stupid, they are still rebuilding and could of waited until next season to make the playoffs. They won't get a good draft pick this year which would finish the rebuild in time for when Demidov arrives next season.
They have 7 draft picks in the first three rounds this year . They can package a prospect with some draft picks to move up for a top 10 . Learning to win hockey games this year gives them more momentum for next season . They already have a potential star in Hutson and a potential superstar with Demidov next year .
@@pmonty420 What do you think of the 2025 NHL draft class, is it anything special? Do you think Ivan Demidov is better than all the prospects in this year's draft class?
@@DarthMaster09 No Demidov or Celibrini level forwards in the draft this year but as habs fan i would really like to see them pick Martone . Big and mean right shot guy , he has good skill and likes the rough stuff . Good center players available as well … Hagens , Misa and Desnoyers . But overall , I think the best player available this year will be Schaefer . Big , incredible skater and highly talented d-man . He was playing for Canada in the world juniors this year but got injured in the first game .

CGY currently has 45 points and won yesterday…pretty sure they don’t plan on losing but I think they miss the playoffs and we get their pick lol

The rebuild is done once Demidov Hage and Fowler join. We need to let them build a winning culture more than we need another top 5 pick
@@DarthMaster09 Demidov might turn out to be the best from the 2024 draft too.
