I lived in PG when john crashed. I was on a run up near lighthouse and saw the rescue boats on the water not having any idea what was happening. I still miss him. Thank you for showing him some love.

There will never be anyone to match him. Always my favorite, his voice has embraced the heaven and sounds like hes singing only to you. i saw him in concert in Lubbock Tx in 1978 when i was about 20. He was promoting his Back Home Again album and hardly needed a mike. He was delightful. No, i think he died exactly like he would have wanted no fear and i think he fulfilled all his dreams here on earth. a most lovely emotional song. He sang a lot about flying . thanks for such a great song. RIP John!

Harri, self proclaimed #1 John Denver fan here. I so appreciate you doing all these John Denver songs. Keeping his music alive and well. He would be proud I believe. Keep it up. This entire album is one of his multi-platinum albums and it might be his best album in my opinion. Became a subscriber today!

I'll stop in my tracks for any reaction channel that does John Denver, no matter what the song. This one just happens to be a favorite. Thank you.

My personal favorite of John's songs, it has always been a mystery to me why it has only been available on this one album. I was him in many live performances and to the he always sang it at some point in the concerts and it was played at his funeral. At his death I searched my CDs for it and played it as I sat in Pacific Grove near the site of his crash. Tears flow freely.

Great reaction Harri, amazing song again from John, let's give a big hand to Joe Henry, he wrote the words to that song, John wrote the music, they collaborated on a number of songs. Songs like these are timeless, and deserve to be listened to. Well done Harri, for keeping them alive.👍

First time that I have heard this as well, nice to have a new John Denver song to appreciate and enjoy. Thanks HarriBest, I loved this while tears of memories run down my face. You see I am 78 now and I find myself more emotional than I used to be. Have a great day all.

Carol - I grew up listening to and watching his TV show. John Denver had the voice of a songbird. This was an outstanding submission choice. Bravo to you and Harri.

Wow. I hadn't ever heard this John Denver song before, either. Thanks to the person who suggested it. Hari, your analogies about Denver's love of flying, and the composition of his song are spot on, I think. I agree with you about his singing voice as well, full and rich, never finer. Think I'll have to listen to this song a few more times tonight!

My favorite song of his, too. I do a cover of this at open mics. It hit me so hard emotionally that I wanted to keep it alive, somehow. It was very prophetic. I've been suggesting this song to reactors, naturally. His friend Joe Henry wrote the words one night while staying over at John's, and John wrote the music to it. It was played at John's funeral. It's got to be his most heavenly, spiritual song.

Should react to him singing what he said " was his greatest piece of work." It's called 'let us begin...and it is so true and relevant to the state of the world today. Everyone reacts to all of his songs bar this one...why? Just subscribed.

John Denver, one of the purest male voices ever. I might even label him like a male Sarah Brightman. You sir listen to some eclectic songs. But I could not find any Boston reactions. If not yet, probably start with More Than a Feeling. Lead singer Brad Delp's voice is like a John Denver in the rock and roll realm. Thanks, enjoy your reactions. One for Donny Iris' Ah Leah my first video of yours.

John's mother was Catholic and his father was Menonite.
They took John and Ron, his younger brother to a Presbyterian.
He was quite spiritual. Not so much in a formal Christian sense, but investigated all forms of religion and was heavily involved in EST.

John did not write the words. He wrote the music. This is my favorite John Denver song. I want it played at my funeral.

It would be interesting to hear you comment on John Denver when he was with the Mitchell Trio. He was more overtly political then. They did songs like "The John Birch Society" and "Your Friendly, Liberal, Neighborhood Ku-Klux-Klan". Denver also testified against song censorship in 1985 before a Senate committee concerning the PMRC which was a far right wing lobby group. Others who testified against censorship were Frank Zappa and Dee Snider of Twisted Sister.
