Thank you for your review! Wanted to do more walking and running this winter, so I've been looking for a waterproof shoe that wasn't too expensive. I have wide feet and I overpronate, so I hope this shoe is good for me! I wear the Hoka Arahi, so fingers crossed for this shoe! Thank you again!
Thanks for watching! I’ve found that the uppers are airy enough to allow water to drain pretty easily. Make sure you keep track of the miles you put on these because when the midsole wears out, you definitely feel a difference.
Hey ,came across your review . really helpful .can these be used for road running ? I've been looking for a versatile shoe which I can use for road running as well as on trail
I’ve talked to several people that have used these for both. The lugs on the sole are not super deep, so they’d work on flatter surfaces, but they will definitely wear down faster on a hard surface, so be sure to keep an eye on how they’re wearing out! 🤓
Such helpful review! I'm new in the running game, at age 40!! :) I run twice a week, about 8-10km each time. I just realised I enjoy it very much and it's time to get proper shoes. I tried Asics in a shop, I didn't find my size and started checking online. My gosh, there are so many models and the price difference is huge! So I thought this model was on the mid range and maybe didn't have great features. After watching your video, I'm convinced that this could be a good option considering my needs. Thanks so much!
Tip from a veteran runner - you don't need to spend a lot on running shoes. It's always worth looking out for last year's models - you can usually get them for a lot less than they are when they're 'the latest thing'. Same thing with clothing. If you're doing any of your running on the road - your shoes will wear out quicker than if running on softer surfaces (trails, grass...), so it does pay to give a little bit of thought to longevity** - look for shoes with a solid rubber outsole, rather than 'blown rubber'. [** if you're only doing 2 runs a week, your shoes will last for AGES, but if you get the bug, very likely you'll gradually increase your runs/distances etc) There's a website called Sole Review that is well worth becoming acquainted with. Keeping a log of your progress can help with motivation, and it's also just nice to be able to see how far you've come. IF you do decide to increase your training, do so gently, and progressively - no more than 10% increments - less chance of developing an injury. Stretch every day, and do some Strength and Conditioning work - also helps avoid injury. Keep it up, you'll be glad you did ;-) Running is great!

Im starting having some hip and low back pain lately but I can't stop jogging and walking do you think these shoes are good for my needs ? Or do you recommend others better ?
You may need something with more cushioning. Most trail shoes in the ASICS line have a little less cushioning than other brands I’ve seen, so that may be an issue. These also have a higher drop than others, so you may need closer to a zero drop than these. Definitely get an opinion from a doctor or physical therapist if they get to be a big problem though!
That’s always something I’m looking for and I found that these had better arch support than most other trail shoes. I’d definitely try a pair on to see if they work with your specific arch, but they’ve worked well for me! 🤓
QUESTION - have the lace loops on these proved to be durable. This design reminds me of some shoes I had a long time ago now, and the lace eventually wore through the material loops. I would have preferred ASICS to stick with a normal lace hole - much more durable. But I really like the overall design, and these can now be had for a very good price! So I might get some anyway .. [Toying with the idea of getting some plastic tube, to use as a liner, and provide a buffer for the lace, too]
They’ve held up well. I’m a bit of a klutz and tend to scrape my shoes against rocks and roots but haven’t had any problems with wear. Of course, runners lace their shoes differently to suit their needs, so your experience may vary!
These look like some smart shoes Heather. I also like the look of your Marvel vest! My go to is Hoka I like the extra cushion for my battered legs 😂 Great review Heather thanks for sharing with us! 😎🤘🏻
That depends! The lugs on the bottom are a little deeper than regular shoes (to help with grip), so they don’t move quite as smoothly on other surfaces, but if that doesn’t bother you, I’d say go for it!
Well, seeing as how this was nearly two years ago and before I had a coach, I’d say there’s been great improvement. However, if I ever make a video asking people to critique my form, you’ll be the first one I contact, k? 😉

I am French and I discovered this video by chance. I was hesitating to buy it, I finally bought it thanks to you. Thank you very much for your help.

Love me some Asics. Their shoes are just ultra light, fit really well and are a breeze to walk and run in.
Absolutely! I’m a big fan! 🤓

Thank you! I didn’t start running until I was in my late 30s. We call that “adult onset running!” 😂 Glad I could help!

Really good review Heather! They look like a great shoe for the trails and do have a nice rugged outsole for sloppy conditions!
Thanks so much, Gill!
Heather i normally just do flat road surfaces running, are they still decent enough for that? Hope so as i've just ordered them...
Absolutely, although they don’t offer as much cushioning as road models since trails tend to be softer! 🤓

Hi, do they provide any support in the arch? Thanks
That’s always something I’m looking for and I found that these had better arch support than most other trail shoes. I’d definitely try a pair on to see if they work with your specific arch, but they’ve worked well for me! 🤓
Now I'm looking for new shoes and I came to this review, they look excellent. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much for watching!
Have you tried the gel sonoma 7?
Not yet. I switched over to the Hoka Speedgoats this time around, but plan on trying the Sonoma 7s at some point! 🤓
Can the sole be removed and replaced with another sole ?
While I personally haven’t done this, I have seen people that add an insole to these for extra support.
Thanks, you helped me make my decision to get them!

Good review. Found these to be too lightly cushioned. Not very grippy compared to Saucony Peregrine.
These look like some smart shoes Heather. I also like the look of your Marvel vest! My go to is Hoka I like the extra cushion for my battered legs 😂 Great review Heather thanks for sharing with us! 😎🤘🏻
Thanks! I’ll have to take a look at Hoka- practically everyone I’ve met uses them!
Thanks for the review. Is the cushioning on this shoe firm or on the plusher/softer side?
It’s more on the softer side, but not nearly as cushioned as their other models.
would you recommend these for causal use? coz i really like the look of them but don't do much trail running myself
That depends! The lugs on the bottom are a little deeper than regular shoes (to help with grip), so they don’t move quite as smoothly on other surfaces, but if that doesn’t bother you, I’d say go for it!
@@RunningGeekGirl thanks for the reply, i think i will look into the gel quantum series instead :)
Your content is amazing and I love it can you tell me your ASICS pairs name for road running
Thanks! I’m currently running in the Gel Nimbus 22 model!
Mam now I have ASICS gel Sonoma 6 gtx can I use them in road running
@@roopadevi296 You definitely can, but the road can wear down the soles faster, so make sure you’re keeping an eye on that.
are these shoes durable?
I’ve put over a hundred miles in them so far, and they’re still in good shape!
I need to say you have bad posture when you run, you need to pull your shoulders back and straighten up
Well, seeing as how this was nearly two years ago and before I had a coach, I’d say there’s been great improvement. However, if I ever make a video asking people to critique my form, you’ll be the first one I contact, k? 😉
Are they soft ?
They have a lot of cushioning compared to other trail shoes I’ve worn.
