For those who don’t know, time slows down slightly next to objects of unbelievable mass, and a black hole is the object with the most mass in the known universe, so time is reduced heavily near it. So she was stuck near the black hole for only a little bit, but on earth the time passed normally and it was 87 years, or a few hours for her, before she found a way back.

To the person that said the other scientists sounded like ash’s voice, I agree and also have something to add. I went back to a previous video that played all of the voice lines from the “ashes to ashes” quest. One of the lines read, “just a wee bit of betrayal before breakfast, ay dearie.” The scientist uses the same word “dearie” as ash uses in her lines from the quest. This further advances the theory of this scientist being ash from the past.
@StupidWithAPhone Actually it does. Ash it a human at this moment in time, before she becomes a simulacrum. When she becomes a simulacrum she keeps on coming back to life, so she could easily be 87 years old. We know this is possible because, Revenant is nearly 200 years old
@StupidWithAPhone the time line lines up though... Ash is a simulacrum so that means that she is kinda immortal. After horizon incident "human Ash" suffered severe damage to her body so her mind was transfered into a robot body. This at least makes sence to me. If you think that this scientist is not her, i am not going to change your mind, but the time lines add up
@StupidWithAPhone revenant was the 1st simulacrum I believe. Ash was made after him. She has another code that allows her to know she is a simulacrum without going crazy like revenant did. Revenant was the 1st created and working simulacrum. I may be wrong though. That's just what I remember reading.
@StupidWithAPhone i think that rev was a prototype, and in season 4 trailer that takes place somewhere around 20 years before the games, on the tv they were sayong that hmond robotics got a lot of critique for their new simulacrum programm and they've shown pictures of ash. So i think that ash is newer than revenant and that 87 year gap is lining up with that.
I do think it’s Ash, but I’m not sure how she became a simulacrum or why she betrayed Horizon. Since this takes place before the Frontier War the Apex Predators probably didn’t form yet, so I’m not sure what happened to Ash after this. I do see human Ash just waiting behind Horizon as she speaks, so it might be a generic plot of “sidekick villain gets revenge on protagonist because she’s jealous.” Maybe Ash was a competing scientist and just wanted the fame and glory of discovering the crystal for herself. This does make sense.

When I first saw the horizon teaser, I instantly fell in love with this character, and I was literally praying that she would make it into the game. Because after forge, I thought that all hope was lost when she was abandoned in space. I cried for this character when she lost her son, and the in game dialog on olympus really made me feel worse. Which is why I love this game, all of the stories and the attention to the lore is perfect, keep it up respawn!

Perhaps. But Ash was a simulacrum in the war long before this story. Even if we subtract 83 or so years from where we are now. Ash was a prototype simulacrum before Revenant and he was around for over 250 years.

1 year later and they've used a different animation system. A significantly worse animation system.
The lore might just be 50% of the reason why Apex keeps me hooked. Good job, Respawn!
