Duke Nukem fans, this game is for you. The campaign features nice balance and many of the same elements that have since come to define the DN experience. The presentation could be better, and the "loading checkpoints" is a chore to deal with and definitely interrupts the flow. Online, while simple, offers an incredibly fun experience that can be hard to put down.

Honestly, I can respect a game that no matter how stupid or bad it is, it sticks to it's guns and is what it is.
Honestly it's not a bad time and almost a good kind of bad videogame if you buy it now, full RRP this game would feel like a complete scam

The only thing I really appreciate from it is that you can finally see the EDF assisting in the battlefield. Something I really wanted to see after Land of the babes and Zero Hour. Outside of that, The 2001 version has better gameplay and better arsenal and being able to hold your arsenal instead of trying to be a Halo wannabe

Oh hey, DNF was the longest game in development. 14 since the announcement to release. But, it's possible that Beyond Good and Evil 2 surpasses it. I remember hearing about that being in the works back in college. This was 2008 or so.
Beyond will 100% take the record of it does ever see the light of day!
In regards to the difficulty you were having with the jump on the moon, the only solution I have found is to enable vsync or set your monitor refresh rate to 60.

Just finished it today, and yeah, not as bad as people may make it out to be, albeit the second half is just a slog. I'm disappointed the final areas were so boring, because what clicked with me were the ways you could Ego Boost during gunplay, because I was playing Slots as aliens were dropping in from the roof, I thought it was funny, but then I did it again later on; I was photocopying my ass while a bunch of Pigcops were bombarding the mobile shelter I was in. I thought to myself "Wait, it's actually insane I can just show off to them like that", like really, if the game had more organic ways to Ego Boost all while fighting the enemies, this would've made the game so much better for me, like imagine a "100% Ego Boosts Run" where you have to go as fast as possible, I believe it would be a marvel to watch if the game was more cathered to such a mindset, even drinking Soda as Pigcops are closing in on me kinda did somethign that no other games have tried, you were fucking with them this whole time and not taking the threat seriously.
The sad story with forever is the wasted potential for the game, I really hope someone takes the risk and makes another title in the series as he's up there with the greats for me with DoomGuy and MasterChief
I just played this game too, it's really not bad at all. Just some weird decisions here and there and the releasedate was a thing back then. Definitely NOT a 1/10 or something. More like 6/10.
I think for the price now it's totally worth it! Not bad at all but if you had been waiting 10+ years and spent $70 on it.. yeah I'd be a little mad
I just recently found out people disliked this game as much as they do. I remember having fun with it back when it first came out. People care way too much about this shit. It’s just a game.
I finally finished duke nukem forever in 2024, started playing it in December 2022 until January 2023 and only now in June 2024 I finished it lol because I had gotten stuck in the burger level that I needed to jump on a table then a dead body on the floor. I knew this game wasn’t well received but I gave it a chance when I got my ps3 in December 2022. And……… it’s a fun game !!! I don’t think it deserves that much of hate it got. I understand about expectations because today we are hyped for gta 6 and duke nukem forever was announced in 1997 and it came out only in 2011 !!!! And it was a mediocre game and very disappointing. The game isn’t bad but it isn’t amazing either. There’s definitely wasted potential in there. I don’t mind about the simple graphics and mediocre voice acting except for duke nukem’s voice of course. His voice is amazing!!!!! My problem with the game is the level design !!!!!!!!!!!! The level design of this game is one of the worst I’ve seen and the worst level design in a FPS game I’ve ever seen. 98% of the boss fights are terrible, I actually enjoyed the last one and ironically I literally did not die once during the final fight lol I think it was compensation for dying MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY COUNTLESS times in this game. The controls and ESPECIALLY duke’s movements are pretty awkward. Some enemies are horrible to kill. I died so many freaking times in this game or kept falling in places 😂😂😂😂 the game is definitely repetitive in many parts, I thought the game was excessively hard in many moments even on normal difficulty AND the checkpoint system is all over the place. Sometimes it’s useful and sometimes it’s terrible for being absent. And the loading screen is soooooooooooooooo long and the fact I died so many times definitely didn’t help 😂 my two biggest problems with this game, level design and very excessively long loading screen BUT aside these problems I genuinely enjoy this game, the shooting is (mostly) fun, the characters models are ok, I like the sound effects and the soundtrack ESPECIALLY the loading screen theme(I think they made the loading screen long for us to enjoy the song lol) there are so really enjoyable moments, I love the environment interaction, I really really enjoyed the humor, people said the humor was dated but it worked for me, the main reason I kept playing this game was duke nukem himself. I love his personality, one-liners, his voice and jokes !!!!! He’s soooo funny. I think the game is fun and very funny. I wish I could say it’s underrated but it pissed me off in many parts and many parts that were supposed to be simple were hard because of the level design. So I’ll say it’s overhated(not underrated). My rating is 7,5/10. I just don’t give it 8 or 8,5/10 because there were way too many moments I got really pissed. But the game is not bad or horrible, it’s playable and fun. I hope one day I manage to play duke nukem 3D. But overall I like forever !!! HAIL TO THE KING BABY !!!! ☢️☢️☢️☢️☢️☢️

I think like with everything else that is overhyped, fans go apeshit when it's not the greatest game to ever exist. They expected WAY to much out of this. I thought it was decent. It's Duke Nukem. You run around and shoot. What were you expecting? Some of the greatest game mechanics and a story that is more epic than Lord of the Rings? If this game came out only a couple years after the original it wouldn't have gotten so much flak. But because it took eons for this thing to come out, fans who had way too much time on their hands, got over hyped and their hopes were immediately dashed when it wasn't the greatest thing to ever exist. Never expect too much out of a game, especially when this game was known for simply shooting stuff. You're just going to get disappointed, flail your arms around like an idiot and type long essays on why you spent eons waiting for a game that you thought was going to change your entire perception of gaming.
I played a lotta different games in my childhood and teenage years (Halo being my favorite franchise), but the only Duke Nukem I ever played was this one.
Back then, I always went into any game without knowing anything about it at all. DNF was no exception to this.
I really enjoyed the game; I found action and mini-Duke to be fun, the game had its own vibe (which is sth essential to any game) and software-wise I had a good experience playing it on my XBOX 360.
Therefore, it shocked me years later to find out about all the hate towards it.
Nowadays, I believe half the haters of the game are flock-of-sheep haters, if you catch my drift. It wasn't a great game, but it was definitely a good one, imo.
P.S. I learnt an important lesson thanks to this game. Your aunt's titties are the best ones you'll ever find. Trust me.
Note on the difficulty: I don't remember finding the bosses as easy as you claim them to be. Also, the game has different difficulty levels.

People really need to take there nostalgia goggles off, I recently just started playing through this game again and having a way better time than I ever did with Half Life or Halo CE, especially Halo CE with how poorly designed the combat encounters are at certain sections and the repetitive level design and environments.
It has it's issues but like I mentioned in the review I actually think it's a fun time at a discounted rate, full RRP I would've been disappointed

Duke Nukem Forever. Ugh, the game was so blah. I went back and played 3D, wondering "Was it always like this and we just didn't notice?" No. 3D is still a lot of fun today. This game just combines a ton of elements from popular FPSs over the years and it never really meshes well. It doesn't have its own identity and it doesn't successfully copy any other game's either.
Even time time to kill and land of the babes were very fun games! Sad the ball got dropped here so hard 💪🏻👔
