Still the best switch kick tutorial on RUclips. Found this last year when I started martial arts classes and this has helped me a ton in making use of my pathetic lead leg. Still serves me well to this very day.
I really like the little details Ryan adds at the end of each of these. Loved the grips in the last video and this one with the swinging protecting the head from an over head right or check hook
i would love to train with you one day, man. youre one of the only youtubers that actually knows what theyre doing when it comes to mixed martial arts and youre amazing at it too. once I make it into the UFC, I'm hitting you up and we can train! youre literally fucking awesome
Holy mother of muay thai I have a tournament this weekend that I'm sparring at and I've been freaking out as to how to make the front leg one worth throwing, Shane you couldn't have picked a better time to drop this video thanks man
perfect timing on this video! been working my lead leg for the past month or so and power is there speed will definitely be boosted from this too! thanks man!
Cmon Shane! Your almost at 1 mil! What are you gonna do for your 1 mil? Maybe a q&a, compilation, or maybe a live stream of something? I don't know think of something because it's coming in telling you.
hey man ive watched you for a while and trained with one of my friends. one day me and my friend was going to the carvery and we got jumped on and your defences allowed us to protect our selves so thanks for what your doing and keep it up:)
hey man, I've been watching your sh*t for years and it just occurred to me that I never commented. So, here it is>>>Good shit homey. Your tips are always straight forward and practical. I'm 44 and I still train, and spar whenever I get a chance. Working out is always better when you are learning.
It's when they lift their leg up which makes the opponent realise they're going to kick , that's why He used his rear leg to confuse his opponent and then strike with the lead leg
To me the best way to not telegraph any type of kick is to throw it off punches (or a feint) or only throw a naked kick (not preceded by punches or feints) if you're simultaneously slipping or blocking an attack and countering it with a kick. Starting your offensive initiative with a kick is always going to be telegraphed.
i have watched this video before but yesterday in sparring i have noticed i have too much opening for the overhand, thnx for reminder gonna try this in my next training.
Thank you Shane I can only get to the dojo once a week because I take care of my two-year-old son so you are really good to have around when I'm not able to make it to the dojo I thank you very much
This is pretty nice. I've been watching a lot of Buakaw fights lately, and I noticed he threw a lot of lead leg round kicks that seemed to connect pretty hard, but I haven't been able to figure out how he did it.
Shane if you could make a video going into depth about a kick or punch or knife attack or grappling and show how to set up in every situation I mean every situation I would be very greatfull
If his opponent's not Mickey Gall I'm pretty sure he could land some punch. Mickey's a brown belt Jui Jitsu while CM Punk's only white belt so basically Punk's still an amateur. Mickey Gall just didn't give him a chance to stand up at the first time. Kid's got a future in UFC I see. So far he's still undefeated
+LittleDyke Most mma fighters fighting at professional level have at least a purple belt or a good bjj coach, so cm punk could probably get subbed by anyone.
I am a junior in Highschool and I have never done any sort of fighting sport but I really want to get into this maybe in college or something but thanks for the videos.
+reg2185 Test them in sparring. Even if someone says its wrong, if it works in sparring it works and therefore its right. Of course he could be missing a detail of the technique but in that case just ask him why the technique is being done this way as oposed to the way you know it, if your instructor is legit he will have an answer
I personally think your arm should still go down because you only get countered if you telegraph the kick and have bad distance. I don't think the hand would block the overhand very well and then you sacrifice some power and speed. And I know it's easier said than done to always control the range but I think that's a good safe rule to fight with in mind.
Oh yeah I will add this kick to my combos what's I've been practicing and I will try this kick when I go to spar with my friends who trains in mma and kickboxing
+fightTIPS Shane I've got a quick question. Whenever I kick the heavy bag, my ankle kinda wraps around the bag making it feel like a dislocation. It goes away in about 45 seconds. I kick with the shin a little below the center, and nearly never kick with the foot. When I kick with the foot its a mistake, but nearly never happens. Ive never had an ankle dislocated, and they never hurt. Just when I kick the bag, it kinda juts out on impact and wraps around. Any tips?
That switch at 1:25 looks like a "half switch" - traditional martial artists would say thats the same position as a twisted stance or cross step - Also, you could pull of a switch and pop/punch!
I don't switch. I just kick from there. But I usually fight toddlers so it is enough to put them down.
Does it work for babies tho

I hope you go to prison
Cabbasca Yt snowflake
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cut one dread, two more will take its place.
Works with weed... lol
Ryan is an excellent teacher - he broke down each stage of the kick beautifully
Just what I needed to practice thanks Shane
Ayyyy Jax you watch fight tips??
O shit used to watch your videos back in the day all the time
Gtfo bro why are u everywhere i am
hi
Should be called "how to switchkick"
1:11 Shane thought that he'll kick XD

Next video: ''How to grow hair quick before a fight''
i would love to train with you one day, man. youre one of the only youtubers that actually knows what theyre doing when it comes to mixed martial arts and youre amazing at it too. once I make it into the UFC, I'm hitting you up and we can train! youre literally fucking awesome
Hell yeah man, let's make it happen!
Hope you kick ass
Holy mother of muay thai I have a tournament this weekend that I'm sparring at and I've been freaking out as to how to make the front leg one worth throwing, Shane you couldn't have picked a better time to drop this video thanks man
This was honestly one of your most useful videos. Definitely going to practice this!
Ryan those little tips were AWESOME bro...good luck with your up coming fights
perfect timing on this video! been working my lead leg for the past month or so and power is there speed will definitely be boosted from this too! thanks man!
I like that arm out instead of down technique. great vid!
Was really needing to work on my kicks thanks Shane, my friend actually taught me some of these tips.
Finally a useful channel on MMA training
Cmon Shane! Your almost at 1 mil! What are you gonna do for your 1 mil? Maybe a q&a, compilation, or maybe a live stream of something? I don't know think of something because it's coming in telling you.
awesome. quick short lesson but packed with enough tips to keep me busy until I get this down. beautiful technique, thanks for the lesson!
You guys are best .
It is good for people who don't know self defence.
Specially for girls and boys
i love the dutch braids bro, i hope we see this again in the newer videos
Ryan is really good at explaining what he is doing. Great tutorial guys!
hey man ive watched you for a while and trained with one of my friends. one day me and my friend was going to the carvery and we got jumped on and your defences allowed us to protect our selves so thanks for what your doing and keep it up:)

Edson Barboza has the best switch kick ever, it's a thing of beauty, when it comes to him it's really just a quick twitch and lands fast and hard
Solid! Very clear and concise tutorial
:D
1 of my favorite kicks, thanks 4 slowing it down.
Got fight tips for days. Never ending.
You rocked that rasta look maybe better than anyone ive seen!
Thank you. I being training boxing for two years now I try to learn how to kick. so I can learn different arts you lesson really got me thanks 👍
I was told this the first ever time I went to a muay thai lesson. Good to see the mechanics behind it and what is the more common 'bad' technique.
It's when they lift their leg up which makes the opponent realise they're going to kick , that's why He used his rear leg to confuse his opponent and then strike with the lead leg
please do a video telling us how to bring back the leg correctly/faster after kicking.
1:20 1 facing and 2 'is already pivoted' _ that's the best tip here and the whole video is really great.👍👍🔥 Greetings and thx from Egypt!👊🔥🇪🇬🇪🇬
Great adjustment to the switch kick I like the hand at face level instead of pulling it down
really happy that my trainer already tought us these and i'm able to do it extremly well wheither its for an interior lowkick or roundhouse kick
SUPER helpful. More power on the kick and refining the switch. Thanks
my teacher told me this last week for a knee kick in the middle. it works.
i found this chanel like days ago a i already love it best online tips ever
My man, thank you!
This was dope, you should definitly bring him on more!
Very helpful video Shane as always
How the hell did you know I was having trouble?! Shane, are you a wizard?
;)
Thanks Shane your Muay Thai videos are helping me a lot .I used to do Kyokushin
At first I was like "I already know this" but the pivot and arm swinging higher was pretty dope
To me the best way to not telegraph any type of kick is to throw it off punches (or a feint) or only throw a naked kick (not preceded by punches or feints) if you're simultaneously slipping or blocking an attack and countering it with a kick. i have watched this video before but yesterday in sparring i have noticed i have too much opening for the overhand, thnx for reminder gonna try this in my next training.
I needed this because the weird thing is that I am right handed but my leg leg is stronger than my right. Thanks!
Swinging your arm that high removes so much power. If you're going to swing your arm you must do it in line with your knee like a scissor.
the switch really helped me improove
Thank you Shane I can only get to the dojo once a week because I take care of my two-year-old son so you are really good to have around when I'm not able to make it to the dojo I thank you very much
Yeah Shane if you can, please make a video or give any suggestions on what to do when I am out of breath during a fight.
Hey man been thinking about getting into boxing and something else. What another good martial art for a shoot guy
I kick my wife like this if dinner isn't on the table after a hard day's work in Taco Bell.
You two are brilliant
Technically it is a rear kick once you switch stance. Not a lead kick.
That's why he called it a switch kick.
This is pretty nice. I've been watching a lot of Buakaw fights lately, and I noticed he threw a lot of lead leg round kicks that seemed to connect pretty hard, but I haven't been able to figure out how he did it.
What i really need is stretches for the legs/hip/glutes for me to throw these kicks and be more flexible
Thank you for sharing this! Very nice video!
thank u 4 showing me what I'm missing in my kicks
Shane if you could make a video going into depth about a kick or punch or knife attack or grappling and show how to set up in every situation I mean every situation I would be very greatfull
Great advice! Thanks Shane!
1:55 2:05 Very nice tip and 'adjustment'.👊🔥🇪🇬🇪🇬
That was an awesome adjustment tutorial. Love it! Thanks for the info
I learned a lot in this channel.
thank you shane team realy man without your tips i dont know what well happen to my career
that was a sledgehammer of a kick
Love your videos Shane ! I learn a lot from them I'd apply Mr Cafaro's trick from now on ! Awesome !
Thanks this will help me during training.
CM Punk dosen't hit back
Because the other guy did not let him stand.
+LittleDyke Most mma fighters fighting at professional level have at least a purple belt or a good bjj coach, so cm punk could probably get subbed by anyone.
what do you think of CM punk now LOL
I am a junior in Highschool and I have never done any sort of fighting sport but I really want to get into this maybe in college or something but thanks for the videos.
Dude get into it now, hounistly yu could be an animal if you start now
yeah dude... dnt wait! u will fall inlove with it
Thanks. Needed this in my practice routine.
exactly what I was looking for, thanks Shane !😊
Thanks guys, you're the best
edson barboza has the best switch kick in the game
So, an ITF Taekwondo style switch kick principles adapted into MMA/Thai technique. Pretty nice.
good video and yah that makes since. you have to always push your weight down to your core stomach for maximized power balance and speed
Nice its always the little things that helps and mattrrs in the long run. Could be the reason why you win or loose in a fight
thanks for this Shane ... really needed this
Great to hear, Franco!
+fightTIPS great video. I have a question separate from the subject. How do you know if your martial arts teacher is teaching wrong techniques.
+reg2185 Test them in sparring. Even if someone says its wrong, if it works in sparring it works and therefore its right. Of course he could be missing a detail of the technique but in that case just ask him why the technique is being done this way as oposed to the way you know it, if your instructor is legit he will have an answer
Good tips on kicking.
Any tips on protecting locs or any other type of long hair when rolling?
Shane you are the man
I thought I was the only having trouble with the lead kick. It just feels so difficult to throw compared to my rear leg and it feels so weak
True. But it doesn't need to be a very hard kick to do damage or k.o.ing somebody.
I personally think your arm should still go down because you only get countered if you telegraph the kick and have bad distance. I don't think the hand would block the overhand very well and then you sacrifice some power and speed. And I know it's easier said than done to always control the range but I think that's a good safe rule to fight with in mind.
Would love a video on how to leg kick like edson barboza.
Awesome vid shane
It easy to watch, but hard to do. Thanks bro. Good one!
i like it! Very well explained & makes perfect sense. I'll definitely be implementing this technique into my arsenal.
thanks for the upload
I love how the screen shakes at 2:15
Oh yeah I will add this kick to my combos what's I've been practicing and I will try this kick when I go to spar with my friends who trains in mma and kickboxing
awesome as always
Thanks Jose!

Thanks, Shane, I was having troubles with that god damn kick
Really good tutorial. ❤
Great tip thanks!!
Again a good tip thanx

thanks for advice shane.
Awesome tip.
Glad to see you lost those dreads bro! Good video.
That's pretty cool how fast your hair grows😎
this was extremely helpful
Great to hear!
