Cracking video!! Tips and Strategies were well explained. Just subscribed. Drummer fishing is a unique type of fishing that I always enjoyed. I'm still searching for that big one to catch and release but even the smaller to medium specimens go hard and always bring me back. Looking forwards to more videos.
Cheers mate! Yeah a very rugged way to fish and adrenaline pumping when you hook those good ones. Much appreciated mate will hopefully be back chasing the pigs before too long on the alvey gear
Some nice fish there mate 👍🏻. I like your star sinker/catch bag hack - I’ll be using that. Those silver drummer aren’t as common as they were years ago They can grow heaps bigger than the blacks
Cheers Mark! Yes unfortunately I had to come up with that idea after a bag with a drummer and luderick got washed in on me one day. Poor fish, I can imagine they weren’t happy with their cell mates for some weird reason haha. Yeah they are always a treat to catch those silver drummer and pull just as hard if not harder.
What a top little session, they certainly are a bit of fun with a good fight. Was taking the boat for a swim tomorrow but indecisive now. There's no swell, i was going to chase Snapper outside. Wonder why that is, the black pigs eat fine & the silver are crap. Glad you told me cause i never knew before Thank Louis Cheers from Newy
Cheers Stevo, yeah hard to beat a good session on chasing pigs. Yeah strange how the silver are so similar but no good. I thought it would be a flavour thing but apparently they’re just tough as. Got to get that Len Butterworth rod to you so I can get into the drummer on my alvey
Great pigs mate. Adrenalin plus! And quality content as always - much appreciated. I use the old Mustad 542 (as small as 1/0) and they work well for me. Super strong and are a good shape for bread baits.
Cheers! Very fun session to film. The classic Viking hook, I’ll have to give them a go. I usually have better quality hooks with me but paid the price for thinking those ones would be good enough. I guess it was atleast a good demonstration of how strong drummer are
I thought you demonstrated a lot of important points really well: perfect pig territory and conditions, the right tackle, different baits and their pluses/minuses, burley techniques, keeper nets and that clever star sinker hack, the list goes on. A must watch video for people getting in to pig fishing or seasoned veterans. Great job.
Maaaate, love ya videos legend. Heaps of great info and very entertaining. I saw on another video the bloke collected the cunjie the day before and salted it over night in the fridge. Have you ever tried that to slow the pickers down?
Cheers mate! Much appreciated. Yeah I’ve been meaning to give that a go for a while now but I’m always just getting fresh stuff before I head out. I reckon it would help a little bit but toadies teeth are so sharp they’ll still be ripping through it. I reckon it would be the go to salt it down if first if you were intending to freeze it though, might give it a go for a vid one day
Best way i found get a tray ,lay the cunje out and heaps of rock salt on top.drain the juice over 3 days approx and keep the juice to add into bread burley.
NSW Labor Govt mandated life jackets everywhere. It's been poorly promoted. Two fishermen drowned at Kiama a couple of days ago. They haven't found the bodies.
No I think it is only mandatory in declared areas which look to cover most of the NSW coast but not all of it. www.nsw.gov.au/environment-land-and-water/coasts-waterways-and-marine/rock-fishing-lifejacket-law#:~:text=If%20you%20are%20fishing%20from,wherever%20you%20are%20rock%20fishing.
Yeah no idea what the rhyme or reasoning is to where they’ve chosen. The amount of people getting washed in at kiama is probably the reason the other councils enforce it!
As far as I could tell it did not have a gill injury. It was hooked in the mouth and was a surprising amount of blood that came out removing the hook, but I’m certainly not pressing my thumb into its gills and am positive I didn’t injure them like this. If I had’ve kept this fish in a pool I guarantee it would’ve lived
So I was going to cover this in the video but never got around to using the prawns. It is illegal to use any prawns meant for human consumption for bait due to the risk of introducing white spot disease in NSW (and probably other states). Some reputable fisherman have shown off using raw supermarket prawns for bait on RUclips, so it’s not taken very seriously. Im not saying this is reckless, I’ve no idea of how big this problem is, though you do hear occasionally of a white spot disease outbreak and it wrecking an areas prawn fishery. My thinking is that using cooked prawns poses no risk as the disease would not survive cooking, but I’m no scientist. Also, if you’ve never used it, cooked prawns fishes just as well as uncooked and it even a little bit tougher bait
@@anglinguntangled yes i dont use supermarket bought prawns in fact i dont even eat supermarket prawns i wont eat farmed shit or imported shit either local caught only from the co op or off the trawler. Yes i have tried cooked prawns when they are getting a bit long in the tooth for me to eat iam from N.S.W also
@@anglinguntangled Isn't this only true for imported green prawns though? I normally buy aussie banana prawns, and salt them up to make them more firm.
You should have 100,000 subscribers mate. Always quality videos when you post.
Thank you very much mate, and you never know maybe one day!

That was awesome
Cheers George. I’ve been enjoying your vids too mate looking forward to the next one
Nice work on release. One thing I know about most folks who fish for luds and pigs, very few go back if they legal and under bag limit.
Yeah I know what you mean. Bit of a different mentality with those styles of fishing I think
Another great video from you jimmy and so informative. Do you know if the black fish have any other names that you didn’t mention?
Cheers mate and not that I’m aware of
Love tips and technique of fishing good job
Cheers!
Wow this is awsome.
Cheers!

@@anglinguntangledmate it’s unreal salted, a lot firmer and stays on the hook really well. Went home with a feed 👍🏻
Hell yeah good to hear mate. I’ll have to give salting a go then, cheers!

Silvers are fine to eat at that size. They're alright to about low 40s.
There you go, might have to try one out
👍

Interesting they haven’t included Kiama, been so many people drown there over the last 40years..
Yeah no idea what the rhyme or reasoning is to where they’ve chosen. The amount of people getting washed in at kiama is probably the reason the other councils enforce it!
this place is dangerous for most of the time, keep it safe💪
Yep wouldn’t want any bigger swell than that and had my life jacket on
They're pretty screwed once you've put your hands in its gills & started bleeding

Just eat it.
While we can still go fishing.
Why cooked prawns i have always used green prawns and i never miss a good feed same goes for rock crabs
