An absolutely incredible collection. I was born in 1967 and had a couple of GI Joes, but played for hours with my Johnnie West , Jamie and Custer. Also loved Big Jim and all the gear, as well as Action Jackson. I also, later in the game found the Johnnie Action, by Mego that were incredibly playable. Small, but a ton of gear and came in tons of soldiers from around the world. This series has been the most difficult for me to find. Keep the videos coming!!
Damn, I saw 2 seconds of this and thought who is this crazy dude that has this museum like collection!? Looked at the name "Michal Crawford" and it then all made sense. Been a fan of yours for a decade, good to see you on RUclips and thanks for sharing your insane collection.
Thanks for the video. If you put the Captain Maddox head on the Sam Cobra body, you will end up with a James West (as portrayed by Robert Conrad) from The Wild Wild West TV show. I believe I read that Marx tried to license it but ended up parting out the head and body to different figures. Johnny West’s head was based off of JFK and Sheriff Garrett’s head was based off of Dean Martin. I owned a store display of an early Stoney Smith with a cloth uniform years ago. It had his accessories sealed on the back card but ended up selling it as the accessories started coming loose. I remember purchasing it from an ad in Toy Shop magazine (from the good old days 😀) for $200. No idea what it would have been worth today.
I adored these figures. So well sculpted and so well made imo. I still have my Chief Cherokee and I've recently started to buy up some of the others in the line making up for loss time. lol
I had a bunch of the Western theme figures as a kid, which I kept and finally sold a few years ago. Neat to see your collection I had no idea they had other themes
I and my brother grew up with these starting with the army soldier and then Daniel Boon in 1964, the Johnny West and Chief Cherokee in 65, followed by the Knights and vikings later, a great world we could crate of imagination. Unlike video games where the play is not of the child's mind but a electronic device.
I'm so lucky I have the Jonny Ranch House and all the doll's too.I have a doll case too I love this doll line.Great video Take Care Best Paul from Chicago.
This line amazed and intimidated me as a teen collector in the 90s. Great parity between male/female figures, but sooooooooo many accessories, and all so easily lost, it seems. It’s a shame the Marx are underrated by modern collectors.
I would just sh#t bricks if i had just part of that Johnny West collection. I am 53 and played with older family or friends Best of the West and never had my own. Back around 1992 a big flea market near me had a big box with tons of the figures in varying consition for between 1 and 3 dollars!!! And you know i didnt buy them but will always wish i had. I love them but today's prices are too much for me. And i never see them in the wild anymore. Love Stony Smith too and wish i had one.
My brother has many of these Johnny West figures and accessories. Of course from an earlier time period he has man of the big GI Joe figure and accessories. The Jeep and cannon. Space capsule. Foot lockers. Many of them are in the box. Frustrating thing is he has them stored in an old barn. Hot in the summer. Cold in the winter.
I had some of those Best of The West figs. I remember one cowboy with the goat-t was also in the Noble Knights line up. Sam Cobra. That's right. I actually think he was the same guy in different get up? He looked like my dad, and was my hero. I had the horses and the Indians. I remember the mask guy with the horns helmet. He was my favorite Indian guy. I had the kids, but I never really cared for them even though I was a kid myself. Their big heads weirded me out.
Great collection. Thanks for sharing. I was a youngster in the '50's and was given a Hartland Horseman for birthday's and Christmas each year. I'd also save my allowance so I could purchase on my own. It took me a while to save up the $7.98 but, well woth it. I still have all of them in a display cabinet upstairs in my home. I wondered if you have any Hartlands in your collection?
I managed to rebuy a Johnny West figure although he's missing his hat and rifle. My original one was destroyed by me as a kid just from playing roughly with him,as kids do.Too bad I don't still own it.
Love your collection ! I have some Western figures myself. Crazy question , I was going to use Johnny West in a short animation / book project. Do you have any idea who owns the rights still and are they still copyrighted? Thank You !

@@MichaelCrawfordCaptainToy Oh. Okay. I am not familiar with these Marx figures. My cousins had them. I was into the Big Jim deal. I have been looking on eBay recently at the Marx Western figures and keep seeing that bowler hat in some of the listings. Now I know. Thanks Michael.
That's a rather extensive collection, even the buffalo. BRAVO.
The glory days of childhood toys… AND I WAS THERE! Priceless…

Great series. I still have mine from childhood.
I still have a few of my JW figures. Fighting Eagle was my favorite as well. Loved all the little accessories they came with!
Had most of Best of the West when I was a kid in the 70s. Still my favorite of all the toys I had.

Clearly you’ve never played games like Minecraft, but yea, these were great!
I had never seen these before today.
I picked up a nice jane west in the pink at a flea market for $5 .
My favourite toys as a kid and big kid
I loved these but broke them all the time. I'm surprised some have survived to today
Awesome. I've seen a few of these in the wild at our local shop. No accessories.
WOW, just found your channel, subbed, absolutely incredible collection!!!!!!
I had the Sam Colbert w/ rifle. My brothers had Gen. Custer and the Chief Cherokee with the head dress.
I used to have the buckboard, and the covered wagon, that they rode in.
I'm so lucky I have the Jonny Ranch House and all the doll's too.I have a doll case too I love this doll line.Great video Take Care Best Paul from Chicago.
Felicidades, excelente colección, muchos saludos.
Loved the Best of the West! Sam Cobra was and is the Boss!
My favs as a kid.

I do not know - I assumed someone controls the license, but they went defunct so long ago I’m not sure anyone is protecting it.

Always glad to help!
At 4:03, yes, that looks like my Jane West but I didn't play with her as much as Johnny West - he has a brown body, not green! 😮
There’s several body colors.

Sam was a personal favorite.
Had Sam Cobra, paid 5 bucks at M.E. Moses, had his accessories, some how got lost around that time👎
I am wondering if you know which figure wore the bowler hat?
I believe there was a bowler with Mike hazard.

My Jane has a purse and compact, does yours have that?
Yep!
You must have a very understanding partner.
I do!
Jane West 🤔
