This is so in depth I love it. I was doing some light reading exercise and found the word meaning to be particular so looked it up and your video was well worth the time.

Long time no see Zoey. I am Mr.Park from Incheon city South Korea :) I am glad to see you look better and brighter than before. Thanks for making good explanations about dongxi. BTW, I heard Kong Pa sound so much while watching China dramas. What's Kong Pa? Have a good day today:)♡

I think you're talking about the word 恐怕kǒng pà, it means afraid. For example, kǒng pà míng tiān huì xià yǔ. (Afraid it will rain tomorrow.). wǒ kǒng pà bùnéng(can't) qù Shanghai le. (I'm afraid I can't go to Shanghai)

@@pwongil Not really. We don't use it to say afraid of something. Usually kǒngpà + an event, afraid something happens

@@zoeythesharer9050 My idea is the same. In English, afraid to say is similar to sorry to say whereas afraid of sth. is the same as to have fear to sth. Afraid has two meanings and Kong Pa seems to be similar to sorry to express concern and worry.

I have a theory that the song script simplifications/standardizations/unifications were also intended to make some characters able to be read as pictograms but also as ideograms or huiyzi (combined concept characters); i.e. combining 2 or more of the six methods. One example might be 东 which originally was a large sack, but evolved into the sun peeking behind a tree (from the east).

It seems like the earliest simplified dōng character is from cursive font in Han dynasty, Chinese is pictogram, however the origin of the shape of this character is always a unsolved mystery. Language experts haven't found it's real origin.

Really looking forward to it! 西 is a bird's nest in the west! 南 is a bell's loud mouth in the south!
dongxi, things, is "everything under the sun" i.e. from "east" to "west". I bet there's more to it though and can't wait to hear!
