First Time Ever Geochron Atlas in a Car!

- I decided to buy a new stereo receiver for my car and it has an HDMI input for video. I couldn’t resist connecting my Geochron Atlas 2B to that HDMI input just to see if it would work. Indeed, it DOES work! The monitor on that car stereo obviously cannot show the full 4K resolution of the Geochron but it still looks great and is a lot of fun. Unless someone wants to correct me, I will claim to be the first person in the world to ever use a genuine Geochron in a car, showing the world map with terminator lines and the Analemma in real time!
Good job sir, excellent work. Stay safe on the roads!
The only man in the world with a GeoChron in his car. Well done, sir.
Very nice!
What a guy!
Nicely done, Greg! BTW - how do you like your Rangeman GW-9400YJ-1JF now that you've had it for a while?
Hi Greg, I have a Geochron question. As far as setting it up on my flat screen TV, do I just purchase the Geochron 'box' and plug the HDMI connection into the TV? I've some used Geochron boxes on eBay. If they are 'working', is there anything else I should take a long look at before purchasing? Thanks, Rick.
My older Atlas 1 has a USB connector for the power input. But you have to use the correct power supply. It's not meant to work with any old USB power supply. Apart from that, since the Geochron's HDMI output is a short connector built into the box itself, I opted for some kind of HDMI extension cable, with a female connection on one end and a male connection on the other. Also, do you have the correct remote control for the Geochron with a USB "dongle" to plug into Geochron too? If you have those things then it should be simple to plug everything in, turn on the monitor with the correct input setting and turn on the Geochron. It should boot up in a couple of minutes.
Thank you for your prompt reply. Can I install the Geochron on our daily use TV or do I need a dedicated TV/Monitor?@@GoodTimekeeper
Completely up to you. In our house, we have a 60-inch TV in the family room on which we watch TV shows or movies as a family. When we're not watching shows, I switch over to the Geochron on that same monitor for the rest of the day. The TV has a built-in off timer which will shut it down after 3 hours of nobody pressing any buttons. When I come into the room and the TV is off I just switch it back on with the Geochron as the selected input. It's what I do every day. I love seeing the Geochron on a large display. But if you want to use a dedicated monitor that's your call. Eventually, when we remodel the "great room" near the kitchen, my wife says she'd like to have a dedicated, large Geochron monitor on one of those walls.
Thank you Greg, I appreciate your help and as far as radio controlled watches are concerned, I'm right there with you. I love that 'to the second' accuracy.@@GoodTimekeeper
🤩 Promo SM
Awesome upgrade
Fortunately my car has automatic headlights, so I don't need to know where it's dark. 😂
Seriously though, the HDMI input opens up a lot of possibilities.
This is ace.
That is not just cool, it's amazing!
