That wasn't Call of the Ktulu, that was Hangar 18. They're both in the key of D and have the same chord progression.

@SoulCrushTheory :30 to :57 the reason meagdeth has been so good. Great Drums + Great Bass in all it's albums. You forget about them (because of the guitars) but they are there and they make the sounds be amazing.

@@accipiter1654 I'm familiar with both songs. This part is Hangar 18. Both intros share the same chords, that's why they sound similar.
The part he's playing (Hangar 18) has 4 chords. In order.... 1. (Em), 2. (A#/D), 3. (Bdim/D), 4. (C/E). Notice how they ALL ASCEND from chord 1 to chord 4.
The Call Of Ktulu has 3 distinct chords in the intro. From above, the progression is: 1, 2, 4, 1. Notice how after chord #4, it DROPS back to chord #1.

I believe those are actually the chords to Hangar 18 but they are some of the same chords to The Call of Ktulu too; good ear man.
Nick is awesome and I love him on all his original written drum parts, but he overplays Gars stuff. Gar had lots of subtlety to his playing, Nick plays it straight metal.
