I do amateur theater and one year I was playing a wife who couldn't cope with her husband not getting rid of the dead body in their bedroom for the last 15 years (a bit hypocritical because she did nothing either). For a character exercise we had to bring a song that explained our characters. I made the whole cast and director listen to Breakpoint for its lyrics. People stared at me and didn't get it. It was so disappointing because it fit so well.
Marty you are my favorite lead guitarist in the world. You play your own lead sound with heart and soul which lack in many lead players.Your chemistry with dave mustine ,nick menza and david ellifson was the best ,THE CLASSIC MEGADETH LINEUP, and those were my favorite megadeth albums.I as many megadeth fans wish to see this classic line up again ,unfortunately nick is no more now,let me say MARTY AND NICK are rocking hardcore beasts in lead guitar and drums, which contributed best classics thrash albums like Rest in peace and Countdown to extinction.KEEP ROCKING MARTY.....RIP NICK MENZA \m/
yep, I never listened to those songs and I had that CD in my truck cd player for like a month straight. I would listen to Angry Again, 99 Ways to Die, Go To Hell, then I would end it with Diadems, and then listen to Diadems again one or two more times. I freaking love that song.
Angry Again was the first Megadeth song I heard on the radio, and it was the first of theirs that I got into. When I finally had album buying money in the summer of 98, I originally thought that track as on Cryptic Writings, because I didn't know their music yet. But sufficed to say, Hidden Treasures was the first Megadeth album I owned.
I love the psychedelic vibe and played it on repeat for some time when I first heard it. Still not a fan of the ending, though. Musically it's a little sloppy.
I agree with the top comment. Mustaine has made so much incredible music, he, I hope has stopped complaining about getting kicked out of Metallica. And Go to Hell is one of my favorite Megadeth songs. The video is classic!
All the Megadeths songs on Hidden Treasures are excellent songs that deserve to be on a record! Would be interesting to hear the original version of Problems with Chuck and Jeff.
As a young Megadeth fan being only 18 and only listening since I was 12, I always assumed angry again was a big hit song, never realized I had such a story behind it
I saw this interview a long time ago, but didn't really remember much of it... until Dave mentioned the guy who died in a knife fight over a baloney sandwich. I laughed just as hard this time as I did the last time. Oh man.
Metallica was just better than Megadeth until 1986, that is, until the album period "M.O.P". After that, "Megadeth" destroyed "Metallica". Because, the same time, the album "AJFA by Metallica" was not musically better than the album "SFSGSW by Megadeth".
This whole album is a master piece… I love how for Paranoid they paid little mind to it and decided to just hit récord played it once and BOOM my favorite version of that song was created! 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼 Have you guys heard the ending? It’s obvious they recorded it off the cuff 😂😎🤘🏼🤟🏼
its cause religion and witchcraft etc are polemical things that make it interesting, either by pissing you off or by making you think. i mean if you write about how beautiful the sky is, it inst very interesting is it? i think he just does it to make you think, which is one of the reason why i love MEGADETH so much
I had a ticket for it briefly. I went drinking with a friend the day I bought it. Lost the ticket that night, or perhaps it was stolen which wouldn't have been hard because of the state I was in from our session and didn't have the money for another one. Anyway I never went because of that.
99 ways to die another awesome song. Good message in dat song. There's a prison in my mind, the bars are bout to break. I'm as mad as a hatter and strung out just the same.
3:58 - "If we were to just shuffle up all our B-side material that we don't think is worthy of being on our album... that would be a real lame move." - 2 minutes earlier - 1:59 - "David Ellefson HATES that song!"
niwm I would love if they released a B sides compilation. There's always hidden gems there, Red Hot Chili Peppers (my 2nd favourite band) has tons of B side songs that are even better than the songs in the actual albums!
In November 1995, Dave Mustaine went to detox for the last time, which means he was still struggling with some drugs (most probably heroin and cocain) and alcohol up until 1995. This interview should be before November.
Angry Again was released in 1993 and preceded the album "Youthanasia" which was released in 1994. "Cryptic Writings didn't happen until 1997. If anything if was an indicator of what Youthanasia was going to sound like.
dave is high as always i guess!! :D anyway he's a great musician\guitarist. he's not a human for sure! MEGADETH is the best band in the world!!! miss marty in megadeth!
freedom of speech is lost, freedom of expression going down the drain, but you make sure nobody says anything bad about men fucking each other in the ass.. thats whats really important after all
'I knew it because I was up smoking freebase all night" Good 'ol Dave
The man never lies about what he has done. Ever.
@@roxannemoser Nice one
@@likkidixx When it comes to his substance abuse issues he has quite literally never been anything but honest
@@_ProTrax never said. He fucked up so many places he had. But on his legs got forward somehow. Dave is on coke here.
With a straight face.
It's a shame 99 Ways To Die isn't more appreciated. I think it's one of the best songs from the band.
Such a jolly happy riff, totally sarcastic lyrics, great solos...yes sir.
Yes, such an underrated song
Diadems and 99 ways are ubelievable.
Go to hell is amazing too
I was so happy to see that when I got Beavis & Butt-Head 🤘
Angry Again... god, that song is such a masterpiece.
The_Buff_Guy my all time megadeth song.
@@Mike-zy8in no.
All the songs they made for movie soundtracks are amazing
I like go to hell more but it is a good sonf
I love the whole album. I have the Japanese Hidden Treasures deluxe it has 5 more unreleased tracks including schools out and never say die
"He's got Nintendonitis." LMAO!
"... Nick spend more time in front of his Nintendo Game, than he has alive and breathing... " The man says that with no smile in his face! LOL
Angry Again really is one of Megadeth's best songs
I just love his intelligence and honesty. He doesn’t hold back about anything. Love and respect him so much. His biography is great
"I know, cuz I was up smoking freebase all night.." lmao, at least he's honest
+killer1one1 The face of Marty at this point says everything.
...almost honest ;)
I see what you did there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
He was Almost Honest :D
What is freebase?
How can you not love mustaine.
There are no characters like him in metal world today and never will be
Only Mustaine could admit to smoking base without looking like a tool...God bless you, sir.
Charles Downey idiot
I thought he dis look like a tool. It didn't need to be said . No one asked
@@tomace194 Nobody asked for your comment either but here you are. It's called expressing yourself.
DAVE MUSTINE ,the godfather of thrash metal. You are a legend and always my guitar hero
Back when MTV cared about music... wow.
Now it's masonic television lmao
wait a minute, schwarzenneger himself asked megadeth to do the soundtrak for him?,,,no way!

"I got no friends coz they read the papers" is a very honest lyric. Today this rings more true than ever.
I FUCKING LOVE Hidden Treasures. It's a masterpiece.
I really wanna hear more about this whole Dave getting committed by the band story
Ah those halcyon days when MTV actually had something to do with music.

Diadems and Angry Again. Hands down among my favorite Megadeth songs.
Same‼️
Hated No More Mr Nice Guy, & Problems, but absolutely love the rest of the Treasures.
Yeah problems is the only problem I had with the album

Angry Again is an amazing song.
what is Mike Portnoy doing here ? I came to see Megadeth!

I love old interviews like this. Thanks for the upload!
Angry ahgainn angry again angry AAOWH!
Too good.
It's really nice to see young Dave and Marty together. Something we won't see again. But I definitely want them to reunite someday.
We got our wish, bud
The first Megadeth CD I bought. (used to buy cassettes, this was when i started switching to CDs) Still my favorite Megadeth release.
Get a guy who looks at you the way dave looks at marty.
Angry Again, Go To Hell and 99 Ways are the best songs on this. I don't care much for the cover songs
+matt w Breakpoint is criminally underrated. But I agree on your selection of songs, though.
I'm trying to make a "100 best songs of Megadeth" mix and I may have to cut one of these... Their catalogue in incredibly deep.
matt w Diadems and Go To Hell make it worth purchasing. Still gotta find a copy though...
Go to hell is such a sinister song, even for megadeth standards.
Badass 🤘
Angry again and 99 are not on this album

Wow Back in the Day when MTV was worth it! Portnoy presenting a Megadeth interview! man how I miss those days
I really think that Megadeath was much, much better than Mettalica.
idk about Megadeath, but I´m sure Megadeth is!
+Eldardoarg During the 90's, Megadeth was definitely a better band than Metallica.
