- As you know there are many different recipes for homemade biscuits. In fact, I make them in several different ways. A few weeks ago I met a sweet lady who said she watches my videos. We both were talking about how much we love other cooking shows and we mentioned Brenda Gantt's homemade biscuits. The lady said she had a recipe from one of her friends that always turned out delicious. I asked if she would share it with me. She graciously sent me the recipe and said that it makes a lot of biscuits. I decided I would half the recipe and it still made plenty of biscuits. The recipe that I am putting below is the recipe that was given to me cut in half. I hope you try it and let me know what you think.

My great Grandma made fresh scratch biscuits three times a day...when she had leftovers, she would save them for a couple days and she made bread pudding with them. In my family, we still make bread pudding with biscuits.

Was disheartened when I saw you must have a KitchenAid mixer and dough hook to make this. It's been on my wish list awhile. Being disabled right now, I can not stand that long with a hand mixer. These remind me of a roll, but I too like biscuits that don't fall apart/crumble when you open them. I know much time has passed since this was filmed, but pray the young lady you mentioned is doing as well as you are, Sue.

There's only two of us as well, so when I make a batch of biscuits, I put the extras in a ziptop freezer bag once they have cooled and freeze them. They reheat really well in a toaster oven once thawed. I just put a little water on my fingers and flick it over them right before heating--it seems to freshen them up!
