Rome, vast fire in Casal Lumbroso: some houses evacuated and extensive damage to a factory

A large fire broke out in the early afternoon today, Wednesday 17 July, in via del Casal Lumbroso. The blaze also affected a factory, which suffered extensive damage, with the collapse of a steel structure. As a precaution, some homes were evacuated but the flames did not reach the homes: "We saw smoke and were asked by the civil protection to abandon the homes - says a resident of the area - when the flames and smoke did not stop we got worried. For the moment we are unable to return". Fire inspector Rosario Nacci explains how the fire started: "The fire started in some brushwood and then invaded a production activity. We managed to stop the flames in time on the brushwood which, if they had gone beyond the road, would have also involved the homes".
