Hi Davud , I ‘ve noticed a comment down this thread and you or RUclips blocked any reply to that comment - which is wrong either way. The comment was about “ don’t call Romanian old ladies *babushka* because we are not Russian” . It is true and any reference to Russia and Russian things in Romania you should treat as very sensitive or avoid. I’m not gonna get into details, every nation is entitled to their sympathies or non-sympathies when it comes to history and past suffering. Russia invaded Romania 11 times in the past, that’s not going to be forgotten easily, but that’s not what I want to explain here. So, let me explain why “babushka” is incorrect and not very nice: apart from Romanians not liking to be called Russian names because they are not a Slavic nation but a romance or Latin provenance nation, the word BABA which in Serbian and other Slavic languages means literally “grandmother,” in Romanian means derogatorily “old woman” or “old hag”. The word to address to an old woman in Romania shouldn’t have to start with “babă”! The corect word is “doamnă” if the old woman is a bit more polished and more like a lady, or “bunica” (boonika) or mamaie (mammyeah) or tanti (tauntie) if she is more of a country woman or a simpler woman . You cannot call a university professor in her 70s mamayeah or boonika…or tauntie you would have to call her “doamna”. So if the word baba is derogatory in Romanian, babushka is not far from it and most Romanian old ladies don’t like to be called “babă” even if they are 80, because it sounds derogatory. Especially those who are not grandmothers are even more sensitive of being called baba or babushka. I’m only trying to help you and I’m taking my time writing a long post not only to be very clear to you but eventually to be clear to other people reading the comments here; because what’s the point of travelling if we don’t learn certain things… right? 🙂 I enjoy your vlogs very much and I will definitely stay at Lucia‘s place when I’ll go to Romania next time, thank you for presenting us her cozy houses where I would love to spend a few days. You are not only a great vlogger but you are also a really nice human being. 🫡🤝👍 PS. Even if she is not a university professor Lucia should be addressed to as “doamna Lucia” 😉
@@DeannaSt 100% corect! De cateva ori am avut si eu intentia de a lamuri acest aspect pe la alte vloguri. Peste tot se foloseste apelativul "babuska" atunci cand se refera la o persoana in varsta
Nobody talking about this lady in her 70's taking care of everything alone? Imagine in the winter she has to buy wood and carry it in every room to heat up the house, don't forget she has to clean the tons of snow falling every day. The amount of work she does is insane. This, the natural food and clean air is keeping her young and active.

Colt, in Romana mai veche, are si sensul de stanca ascutita.
Traducerea contextuala a numelui romanesc in engleza e de fapt "cliffhanger's flower". Dar Edelweiss este numele de circulatie folosit in engleza, chiar daca originea lui este din limba germana. Ai vrut sa pari inteligent, nu ti-a iesit.
Another great video. I'm surprised that you were offered "fragi" (wild strawberry) at the end of the video because they usually grow in the forests and not around the houses. Although many call "fragi" as wild strawberry there is actually a similar berry (capsunele salbatice) like fragi who looks more like a strawberry and also grows in the forests only and the taste is so so flavored. I'm pretty sure those fragi were flavored but the ones from the wild/forests are even more flavored and if you ever find fragi jam at some old lady don't hesitate to get at least a jar cause it's much better than strawberry jam.
8:36 "confiture" means "jam" in French. Obviously the lady was more fluent in French than in English... At 14:10 one could also notice her prononciation of the word "mountain" and at 16:36 "tapestry" parasited by French
Je pense que tu as raison. Up until the '90s French was more widely taught in schools than English. Despite communism, there were still strong cultural links to France and plenty of French artists (singers, actors) were household names. Today English is dominant in schools, but French is still pretty common, usually as a second foreign language.
She's a Historian.Beautiful and clean place.I missed Europe! She mentioned Penicillin.Wow!The man she mentioned is like Madam Curie.European ladies are always busy, always keep the house spic n span.Antiques are always treasured too.

My prayers to Nepal after the accident today! 🙏🏽❤
Great series!
❤❤❤Wouw one of the most beaitiful vlogs I have seen. Beautiful experince enjoy it fully.🎉🎉🙏🏼

Hi Davud, great I've discovered your channel! Your narration while noticing around is amazing, you have an eye for details. Also you are very polite, humble, generous and witty with locals. You excellently transfer vibes from people you meet and attractions you see. I wish you further passion in doing what you like. Love and greetings from Zagreb, Croatia. You are most welcome to visit our country with rich history, beautiful Adriatic coast, mountains, breathtaking nature, home made food and other what might be of interest for a curious person. Take care❤

I think the woman is bored to death when she is alone, so she found an opportunity to talk to someone.😂
This was so fantastic! What a wonderful woman- it is amazing how she keeps such a large lodging place and garden! You are a very kind, gentle and respectful person. A citizen of the world indeed. May you be richly blessed.
