Off topic a little bit, in early 2017, I was in a relationship with someone I loved very much (still to this day). She opened my mind to the world. I wanted to make it work and even though we loved each other, we had very significant differences on life views, family values, etc. Anyways, once I felt the beginning of the end coming I came across this version of this song. Years have past and we haven't talked since early 2017. She's gone forever. (We are from different countries hence some of the life views). This song truly embodies the loss of love in any form. First time I've heard this song since around the time we broke up. Beautiful track.
I feel you, man. Since childhood, I just listened to the original and thought it was just badass, never really giving it the listen it was meant for. 30 years later, I listen to it much differently due to me losing my mother on 2/14/19 and the most emotional part of this song is right when the tempo speeds up and the double kick kicks in until it slows down, stops and fades out. Why? Because when the music is calm, I'm with her and conversing with her in my head and feeling a momentary sense of calm. Then, it's like she tells me that she has to go and I'm running after her, telling her to wait and wanting her to stick around a lil longer. I lose sight of her, so I stop running and I look around... and she's gone...
I wasn't expecting such a different interpretation of a classic instrumental. The intro is a tearjerker, and it makes me think of everything I've been through in my life. Being physically disabled is not easy even though there are people that believe that wholeheartedly. The number of obstacles I've faced, and the amount of bad luck in many departments are too much to list. It's only now that I've started to feel like myself, and this instrumental is a reminder of that.
