- Metallica - Orion with the black album sound
I tried midi Drums with the black album's Drum sound and composed bits of orchestra at the interlude and the solos ! let me know how it sounds !
(I only used the original bass track for this one)

people hate, but there was a reason BLACK outsold everything and went pop. the sound and dynamics are fucking KILLER on it, and you can actually hear Jason.
for me it's just boring to listen
Of all their releases Garage Days revisited has been my most played from the beginning. The recording just has so much spirit. Light as air yet sharp as a razor.

The thing I don't understand at all is
1) why James and Lars would think turning the bass off was a good idea
2) why Jason didn't go "wow, timeout guys. Where is the bass? Are you intentionally trying to ruin the album?"
People trying to make up excuses like "they were still mourning Cliff" is just hilarious. As if they wouldn't allow bass to be heard unless Cliff was playing or that having inaudible bass somehow honors their former bass player 😅
I'm not gonna lie the black album has one of the best sounds in Metallica discography in my humble opinion.

Iit's THE BEST sound. it's the coronation of what master of puppets was supposed to sound. that boogie mark sound, a fat bass and explosive drums. and the best Hetfield vocals ever. You might not like the songs per se, but the production is phenomenal.

You get that sound from a "beginner" guitar, awesome!... we guitar players keep looking for excuses to upgrade guitars, but after all, the magic starts in our fingers.

That's for sure,but my opinion is,that album sound is an example for the music industry.

Hey man, all I can say is that this is beautiful. TBA was Metallica’s first perfectly produced album, at least to my ears. MOP was in my opinion their best album musically. You combined the best of both. Cheers!
This is the most grounded comment and I agree wholeheartedly. Composition of MOP is timeless but the sound Bob Rock got in the BA is stellar even to this day, any producer worth it's salt will tell you.
For me while MOP sounds more polished I prefer Ride the Lightning as it has more of a thrash feel to it. Both were awesome.

First of all, awesome work. Really loved the re-harmonization and the strings arrangement. But to be honest, this sounds more like a cover than a "black album" recreation. Anyways, this sounds beautiful.
Edit: Just wanted to add that it would have been cool if you kept all the Misery stuff. Like the half time beat and the riffage, like you did in the intro and solos.
thats interesting to hear man ! i actually recorded clean guitars during the main riff that sounded like the ones in the verse part of my friend of misery but then i thought it might be too much. i guess i didnt wanna change orion into another specific black album song as much as i wanted the guitar and drums tone from the black album

nope , i have only had this guitar and a couple of acoustic guitars for 7 years lol
Can definitely tell the harmony is different. I just cannot say much.😅
However, I did notice one way of playing it that caught my eye.
as far as i know i guess i played the same notes from the original , maybe not the same hand placement though cuz i learned it by ear
@@Steesia Yup, and I can tell part of the song "Orion" has some "Helpless" from Diamond Head based in the movement on one part.
Funny thing:
Diamond Head got that part from the band Strawbs from the 1973 song "Down By The Sea".
If you listen to "Down By The Sea" with the intro and even the outro, you will hear it.
Ah, fuck..! The intro is so good! You did a great job :) But once that beat hits, you realise this has no place on the Black Album :)

Initially I wasn't interested in the black album but after hearing it there are some killer songs on it. In my opinion it was an improvement on And Justice For All but I think Ride the Lightning was the best. I'm glad Orion was on Master of Puppets as I think it fits in very well with that album.

Sounds awesome but did you finger pluck the Bass? It sounds too close to Cliff, if it were Jason, it'd have a thumping growl from the aggressive 1mm picking technique

@@Steesia You know. Being a fan of more extreme genres of metal (as well as musician) sometimes I wish someone would re-record Metallica albums with a modern metal drummer (I am talking 30 kinds of blast beats and prog time signatures).
