- Well, this is abit of a random video between videos, however I hope everyone had a nice Xmas and that every has a brill New Year. Anyway the reason for this little video is, i am a tad confused here as i though the idea of Vactan was to help reduce rust. However I have started to notice that where it was bear metal that there is now a rust looking surface. I have done some research and apparently this is normal but something is bugging me on this so just wanting to get others opinion on the matter.
Thanks in advance

If doing these projects you do so at your own risk. If after watching any video you still feel unsure please seek the help of your local garage.
The brown tinge is caused by phosphoric acid in the vactan and other rust converters. It happens when the product takes too long to dry. Using a heat gun etc to speed up the drying process helps but yeah I've experienced this and asked the same question but I've been reassured it's nothing to worry about. Hope this help, another great video Chazz, keep up the good work. Happy New year to you too 👍
Fab advice mate, thought it wpuld be nothing to worry about but me being me worries about this lol
Keep up the great work buddy
I’ve had that same prob with vac-tan, I don’t rate the stuff, for my use (vans) i clean /bare metal and use a solvent based iron oxide paint and use a small roller to apply multiple coats very quickly . It stinks but it’s quick . Then you can put paint over top or under seal and wax
Always Like.It is a hard work.
happy new year bud hope its a breeze for you
while your there mate re do a bit of seam sealer espeacially inside boot well stop any condensation they do leak over time
Hiya mate, yeah i have some ready to go.

Hope this is all going well, I have this too do on my Mk4 Mondeo ( lots of surface rust ) before its undercoated.
Keep em coming, Chazz.
I'm taking a guess here, but if that was now actually rust and you applied another coat of Vactan on it, wouldn't it then go purple/black? Just a thought...
I'm still on hold with mine with the back end completely stripped, as had to have another op on my broken arm. Was hoping to get on it for January, but probably be in plaster till into February.
I initially Vactaned my link arm brackets, but decided to then get them powder coated over the top. They have come out really nice in fairness, but the price of powder coating has gone up a fair bit recently. Also popped into Halfords to get some Hammerite Smooth, but they've stopped stocking it now.
My Dad who is now 78 was pottering about in my garage last week and actually offered to put the car back together for me, as long as I feed him a supply of tea and biscuits 😂😂😂
Looking forward to your next vid, Buddy 👍
