- So let me get this out of the way...I really like Pad Thai when it's done right and I will be doing a video on my 5 Best Pad Thai in Bangkok soon to balance the scales but I just feel that too many people are stuck in a Pad Thai/Pad See Ew rut when they visit Thailand!
I want to show you three amazing Thai street food noodle dishes in Bangkok that will blow your mind! I want you to try as many Thai dishes as possible and there are so many to choose from!
First we headed to Pan Fried Chicken Noodles Pien ก๋วยเตี๋ยวคั่วไก่ป้าเพียร for Bammee Kua Moo Dang - Stir Fried Egg Noodles with Homemade Roast Pork - บะหมี่คั่วหมูแดง - 60 Baht

We then headed to Suan Mali Chicken Noodle ก๋วยเตี๋ยวคั่วไก่สวนมะลิ สาขาสี่แยกโรงพยาบาลกลาง confusingly also known as Nai Hong and had Kuay Teow Kua Gai - Pad Fried Chicken Noodles - 45 Baht per bowl
goo.gl/maps/a1S3xgUCU9WcfbkX8
Then I finished up at Lung Ayutthaya Boat Noodle ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเรืออยุธยา "ลุง" for some Sen Yai Prik Pao Koong - Stir Fried Wide Rice Noodles with Chilli Paste and Prawns - เส้นใหญ่ผัดพริกเผากุ้ง - 60 Baht

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this RUclips channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.
If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
#bangkok2022 #thaistreetfood #bangkokstreetfood
your food vlogs are bringing me to Thailand. Trip planned Sept. I'm using your vlogs to hit the food favorites in and around Bangkok. Thanks so much. I hope to see you somewhere along the food alleys.
You’re going to have the best time!
Words fail me, I could literally eat two bowls of the first dish mate with no ice cream desert to follow 😏But you helping out the Tuk Tuk driver not trying to rip you off .Priceless 🙏
Unbelievable Geno mate!
You are a local now !
I'm Thai and my favourite is Pad Si Ew. I hardly eat Pad Thai at all but I love Hoi Todd the one that normally selling together with Pad Thai. I also like Pad Ki Mao and Kua Gai. Your choices are just bang on, very impressive indeed 👏
Hoy Tod and pad see ew are both amazing! pad mi mao also!
Kua Gai is not just a food, it's a piece of art.
Whenever my foreign homies visit Thailand for the first time, rather than Pad Thai...Kua Gai will be the first dish I proudly introduce to them.
Yeah it's so good!
We love a culture king!! Love seeing your videos introducing us to foods that we never even have heard of 👑👑👑
Thanks Mariella!
*Great video Gary.* Everything looks amazing and tasty. I do like my Pad Thai, but totally open to trying new things! I will have to try some of these places next time I am in Bangkok. Most things are better after a few beers mate! hahaha. Always look forward to you videos.
Thanks Thomas. I like Pad Thai as well! Everything better after beer haha
I've only been to Thailand once a long time back, and got stuck on the Pad Thai roundabout (or often second rate places with English menus) largely through not speaking a word or understanding Thai script. I never really knew what I was ordering. At some places you could get away with the old point at a photo but that only works in touristed places (to be fair, that's basically where I went to) and you only know what it looks like. Its probably a bit easier these days with translation apps on phones.
These types of videos are great for those of us farang without a clue, though I would still be stuck with trying to pronounce anything. The Kuay Teow Kua Gai looked really good, and different.
Glad to be of service! I do love a good pad Thai if it’s done right! I hope these videos are useful to help people order
Maaate!! That was pure torture watching that in Christchurch, NZ. Noodles are my Kryptonite. You know I've added all those pins for my next visit and hopefully you can join me to get the full experience. I might need to hire your services for a full month to get round all those Bangkok delights!
Haha I'll try and be available mate!
I’m Thai and this the 1st time I heard about Bamee kua. Definitely have to go try it 🤩
You definitely need to!
Your recommend dish is so Advanced that only local know about it. It's amazing that you found local gem that mostly hidden from foreigners eye.
Thank you so much na. I do my best 🙏
Fantastic video again. That little alley looks a real hidden gem. All places saved to my maps. Plus the bonus of a little craft beer bar. Genius.
Cheers David, glad you enjoyed it
All the dishes looked yummy Gary!! Thanks for sharing yet another awesome food vlog 😊
They were incredible!
Just a trip to Thailand for food is already worthy to come. This time is so hot on the western side, here is perfect to walk around exploring for food….
It’s the perfect spot
Loving this video Gary. I love smoky fried noodles. I am definitely going to try to find these places when I am next in Bangkok.
Put these near the top of the list Noreen 😀
Thanks Gary, for help Thai tell the world about Thai foods. 🙏🏻We have so many yummy dishes for explore.
It’s my pleasure, thank you for watching na 🙏
I love this ep. so much. Most foreigners afraid of trying the unpopular dishes. But tons of incredible dishes are waiting to explore. Thanks again Gary.
And I'm going to try and eat the all. 😁
YUUUUUUUM!!!!!!! 🤤🤤🤤 I absolutely love a good Pad Thai but would definitely eat any of these, they look soooo good!!

Yes, a full review of the second place would be great. The dish looked fantastic
I'll get it done
Quality video Gary. I've never seen these three noodle dishes and I'm no novice. Thank you for sharing mate. You are absolutely smashing the videos at the moment. Keep up the great work. Cheers! Ozzy
Cheers Ozzy mate, they are definitely unique!
Excellent video! Loved learning about all 3. Definitely enjoyed learning about new dishes that are outside the norm. Keep it up! Can’t wait to try it when I get to BKK.
I hope you can try them soon!
Great episode !!
Wow! We're currently in Phuket. LOVED your Old Phuket Town recommendations. Thankyou! Will try your Bang Tao recommendation! More to come.
So glad you enjoyed them Warren mate. Check out Tu Kab Khao in Bangtao if you have time and get Moo Hong and Crab Curry
Everything looks so delicious! Thanks for sharing 🙏
My pleasure!
Ahhhh that craft beer place was the best! Thank you for taking Alex and me there when we joined you with Fred and Gina. We hope to go back there!!
That was such a good night wasn't it? Say hello to Alex for me!
This I would say is the new version of Pad Kee Mao. I have never seen this noodle before. It looks so delicious. Gary, you may be the only one that do video down to the heart of Thai street food.
Even one of the lady's serving didn't know it 555 Thanks so much, I'm so glad you like the videos
Another great video. I loved the place on the canal your recommendations are legend.
Nice one Devin!
Thanks for the contents.. absolutely one of the best food channels.. Cheers mate
Thank you mate!
This is exactly what I'm looking for. The dry egg noodle and big white rice noodle shops with gravy like the last dish. I always hit Lee's Noodle Thong Lo because I enjoy the extra variety of meat, e.g., crispy pork, duck, and crabmeat but now you've given me more places to try when i come back in sept. thanks a mil for this video.
My pleasure, I hope you enjoy
Thank you for that one. All these places are absolutely amazing. Just love to see how they are cooking on charcoal stoves and stir-frying everything with pork lard to get a foundation of flavour... Wonderful.
Absolutely amazing Ying! See you soon for some awesome cooking!
@@theroamingcook Looking forward 😻
Great stuff, thanks for including the links and dish names!
My pleasure!
ใช่ ผัดไทยคือด่านแรก คุณค้นพบก๋วยเตี๋ยวคั่ว คุณมันสุดยอด
ขอบคุณครับผ มมชอบมากครับ
Holy moley that last dish with chili paste prawns and rice noodles served separate is ingenious! Who would have thought to separate textures and flavors only to blend them together without drowning out flavors of noodles and sauce! Excellent choice vlog! Bravo!😊👍👏
It really is great!
Im 100% going to head down and try that first dish! looks amazing
Gotta be done!
Hiya Gary, great video as always. You always make me feel hungry. Even when I have eaten. Lol. Wishing you and your lovely family. A wonderful weekend.
Thanks so much Nicky and you!
@@theroamingcook Thank you

Then I need to find you a good pad Thai Eric haha
Great video! We’ve bookmarked all 3 spots for our next visit
They are unbelievable James mate

Hi Gary, I love such noodle reviews, away from popular ones esp. Aunt Pien's. Cheers😁
Hers are number one
Thanks Gary 🙏🏽 More places to add to my hit list. BTW How are the Boat Noodles at the last place? Have a great weekend 👍

Allow me name you "Gary shuan shim" means Gary invites to taste food. It is amazing that your channel inspires Thai like me to explore more Thai street food. Thank you for helping my government promote our tourism. Thank you.
Wow, thank you! That's amazing 😃 Gary shuan shim
Great video Mickey 😂🤦♀️ we do watch Mickey but you are by far the best foodie 👊🏼
55555 thank you!
Absolutely great places Gary!! I add everyone to My google maps. Have to check next time. Food looks amazing 🤤 and cold beer of cource the must🍻
Jouni! How are you my friend? Always a cold beer!
@@theroamingcook Thanks fo asking Gary. I am doing very well. Lots of work and travel fever is rising😄😄🇹🇭
You are the best Food Vloger in Thailand.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you, I concur David. If only more people knew 😅
Yes back in times Pad Thai was old history national dish food that was forgotten and came back strong with tourism foreigners try this popular food, but for
thai local people food for us will be
Pad krapao, kao geng, noodles soup,
som tam etc..😅🙏🏻
Pad kaprao is the national dish for sure
love this one
Thank youuuuuu
As a Thai, i think you are a expert in Thai food now. Great video ! Wait to see next video.
Thanks so much! 🙏 🙏
Hey Gary, the Kua gai place deserves a closer look sometime. Woke up hungary and saw this vid and was absolutely cursing you. When I've found places like this shop/street/alley I tend to go back everyday for awhile, 555. Another vid to keep me watching, well done
Absolutely. I'll get it done mate
That is another best dishes. 😋
Amazing!
You've made my mouth watered! LOL
I'm glad to hear it!
Hello Gary! Seen all three in previous vlogs. I do agree with you that these noodle dishes will rival your standard Pad Thai noodles. I remember one friend who educated me when I first visited LOS. We don't eat Pad Thai in a restaurant. We order in the street more better! Words of wisdom!😊👍✌
That's a motto to live by for sure Robby!
Best thai food channel.🙏
Thanks so much!
I first saw #1 from Bangkok’s governor live on FB. Now I saw it again in your video. 😁😁
I heard the Governor saw my video and decided to go 😂😂
Hi Gary, where was the beer shack you stopped at before the boat noodles? Loving your videos btw 👏
A thorough review of that Bangkok neighbourhood would be very welcome, Gary, if you are in the mood do it! And Thanks for the convincing video".
Consider it done Antonio
You nailed it!
Thank youuuuu
i'm Thai person and first and second restaurant that you have been present look delicious and rare to find where these restaurant is. i'm surprised this video is reviewed by foreigner but not Thai youtuber. enjoy this video keep it up.
Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'd asked you about crispy pork (or noodle) dish on your live Q&A, might have been the dish at Aunt Pien's and not sure but think the other one I was thinking of was in Thonburi
Crispy noodles 😋 looking amazing
So good
I love Pad Thai and i have to trie this Noodle Dishes
I do too but yeah you have to!
Looks delicious, they are all my favorite noodle you ate today too. As a Thai I would eat without chili or Vinegar first,so you will taste the original . You dont need to put so much chili for everything. Too much of these Vinegar might caused you a problem oneday. Take care. Thank you for the goodies clip.
Thank you so much. Usually I would try without adding but I have eaten both noodles at least 10 times before at these shops 😅
Great! Even I am thai who live in BKK . I never know it have the kind of first dish. mostly it chicken not pork like that.
Thanks so much, it's very rare right?
That second bowl looked great, could watch her cooking all day. What are the prices in the craft beer bar?
So good. 79 baht a beer for pilsner, wit and dunker and they have IPA sometimes for 169
Looking great! 😋 Yummy.
Yeah, You did a good job man!
Thank you!
Not watching you any longer, you're a bad man, making my mouth water.😅
หิวเลยครับ
ผมชอบอาหารจานนี้มากครับ
as Thai people I want to reccommend that every fried noodles menu that fried by “nummunmoo” (lard) and topping with crispy pork..Is the best..That’s why I trust Mr. Gary Reccommend👍😍
Everything should be cooked in nimmunmooooooooo 😀
My friends from abroad are always surprised when I say Pad Thai is not actually that popular amongst locals when compared to other noodle dishes. 😂
5555 me too.
Awesome video Gary! Have you tried Pad Mee Korat (similar to Pad Thai but spicier and more flavourful in my opinion) before? If so, do you know anywhere selling this in Bangkok?
Good job and this is the very unique content that make your channel special, as a Thai I admired you very much and would like to do the content like this with the 3 special fried menu in Thailand that very Thai and super yummy 1. larbThord ลาบทอด 2. YumPladookFoo ยำปลาดุกฟู
3. ไก่ทอดตะไคร้ Kaithord Takrai
Thanks so much! Next weeks video has ยำปลาดุกฟู and ไก่ทอดตะไคร้
The Thai restaurant (ครัวใบไม้ขาว) next to the maternal clinic down the road is one of the best healthy restaurant around there too. Nice video.
Thanks Pat I will check it out!
ครัวใบไม้ขาว is coming up in Saraburi?
It is about 5 minutes walk same road on the opposite side of the Navy place towards the light to Sapan Phut krap, next to a clinic and a bus stop. May be I get the name wrong
Cant wait to be in Thailand in August to have Thai street food again after not being there for 6 years aroy mak mak
Enjoy! I'm so happy for you!
Yummy 🤤
Very! 😁
U master thai food, cheers.
I try 🙏🇹🇭
Good recommendation Gary, and I especially like the last place near Wat Arun temple - looks delicious. Can you also please cover a few good places in Bangkok where we can have pad ko rat. Recently there is a new restaurant that I tried in my city that offers this supposed to be cousin to the famous pad Thai and I do like it. I'd like to know a bit more on this rare stir-fried noodle from Thailand. Thanks.
I can definitely try and find it Rudy! I do like a good pad mee korat
Hi Yes can you do a full review of the noodles👍👍
Consider it done mate
I used to noticed that, one of secret recipe of great (balance) taste in most Thai fried food, is 1-2 tablespoons of tamarind sauce mixed inside as well. Not only Thai chilly paste.
😊😊😊
Always improves the dish
For me as Bangkokian , Pad Thai is a major stir fried noodle dish that hard to find in Bangkok . Plus, hard to find a good taste one too.
Personally, I recommend Pad See Ew , Kua Gai or Pad Kee Mao when visiting Bangkok.
They are my three favourites!
I am a person who loves Thai food. And you're eating really great things.
I'm a little shocked that you speak Thai so clearly.
i love it 😍😍😍
Thanks so much. My Thai isn't great but I'm trying 🙏
Now that's what I'm talkin' about. That's how I used to eat there back in the day. If we ever do get back over there, will definitely look you up to guide us around. I have a copy of the latest Lonely Planet, and I still have a hard time finding where I stayed in Phrapadaeng. I'll have to look up my old letters with the address still on them. And as for the beer, no problem. I used to only drink that Mekong whiskey since Singha was too damn expensive, but I'm easy.
That would be cool if you could find it!
I've never been a fan of Pad Thai, but that of the cowboy hat man is out of this world.
It's on Lat Ya rd in Thonburi, near where I used to live.
You know it Paolo, he's so good! I actually did one of my first ever videos there!
@@theroamingcook I remember those crunchy dried shrimps...🤤🤤🤤
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
That was hilarious. Mistaking you for @MickeyStotch 🤣 You both do a bang up job and both speak Thai very well, so I can see nit noy resemblance.
Actually, I think you guys should do a video together, when he comes back to BKK from the south. 🙏
Haha yeah Mickey does make great videos!
Yum!!!
Very!
Before we moved out of "the city", we used to hit a great Kuay Teow Kua Gai shop in United Center Silom's food court. Don't know if it's still there.
love it
Cheers!
But a good Pad Thai is amazing. But I fully agree when your there switch it up.
I definitely will be eating something different every day down there.
I do love a decent pad Thai as well
The No: 1 Pad Thai advocate in BKK have finally come to his ”senses” 🙏🏼 😉
I think I've eaten pad Thai twice in 300 videos 😂
