  • Curborough report
So we finally finish our sprint season off with a fantastic weekend away at Curborough. For the last few years we have made the trip to do the HSA weekend as it is always been a fantastic event and again this year was no different. Saturday started off with the two lap event, the weather being really kind and we were greeted with a dry but slightly green track. By lunch though we were onto the fresher rubber and the car started to feel really hooked up. The fastest run wasn’t without its own mishaps when the exhaust can decided to separate itself from the rest of the exhaust as you can hear on the approach to the second lap. Happy with the time though being not far off pb the engine showing signs of still being tired being down on compression across all 4 cylinders. Great result though being 3rd in class and 4th overall.
The Sunday was another dry day but equally as good for the figure 8 setup. Really starting to lean on the car and was starting to make small steering corrections mid corner which was nice to have built up confidence to that level again. On the second crossover things did drift a little bit almost to the white line which made it a little tight for the second part still a great result picking up 2nd in class and 3rd overall.
Well done to the HSA for putting on as always a fantastic event, massive thanks to the marshals and officials team for making everything so smooth really was a fantastic weekend. Really looking forward to coming back again next year. Congratulations to all class winners and Dave for both FTD. The Jedi will go away now until the the OMS is finished and then it will be in for a an engine rebuild. Will do a season round up soon.

Cheers. With fuel, water and no driver this car weighs in at 300kgs, the engine when healthy it was producing around 205hp at the crank. It’s a bit less than that due to wear on the engine. I’ve got a winter rebuild planned for the engine to push it back to the 200+ mark. It does like to change direction quite quickly, its setup for more tight twisty hillclimbs than sprints but works well at the smaller sprint venues like Curborough.

@@reallybigkidd you need better brakes , it barely peaked over 1G but you held 2.8G coming out the corner onto the straight, you wanna be seeing +3G when you brake hard .

@@TheCraigy83 we run a circuit brake pad which is quite hard it doesn’t heat up too quickly, once they are warm it’s like hitting a brick wall, it’s also only got small 2 pot calipers on it all round so not quite the stopping power. I’ve got softer brake pads on another car and forever locking wheels. Usually I am later and harder on the brakes on the earlier runs I was 10mph higher according to the speed trap in the braking zone so was leaving it a good bit later and carrying more speed so I left a chunk of time there all good news for our next visit as I can work on those areas.
