Seeing this one tonight and I can't wait, glad that you ended up digging it! It's about time someone found a way to continue innovation within the slasher genre. Great review, Chris!
I just finished watching it and LOVED it! I was glued to my TV. This was an alternative take of a slasher flick. I loved the relentless walking scenes and the kills were fantastic. I think the ending will baffle and piss of some people, but I loved it. Can't wait for the sequel!
I’m a patient movie watcher so the pace worked for me. Though I will say the ending dialogue was a bit much. I actually loved the forest walks-especially after an intense kill, the relaxing visuals and audio were quite a relief!
I'm not a huge fan of gore, but I loved this movie. I agree about the forest walks. In a more standard slasher flick we'd see the protagonists finding the body and panicking over what happened. Here we have Johnny going on another quiet nature walk instead, complete with birds chirping and other standard sound effects. We don't know where he's going, but he definitely does. It was a great juxtaposition that I found amusing at times, in a good way.
Great review, Chris. I really enjoyed the movie once I understood what I was supposed to get out of it. I agree that showing Johnny’s face was a mistake. Going to see Maxxxine today. I’m psyched!
I AGREE on the face reveal! I loved this movie, but that was a con for me. I wish they would stop showing the masked killers face! If you’re going to show it (pretty early on in this one, too) then why even use a mask at all? Please stop the face reveals. The “rock” kill was my favorite believe it or not. And I did laugh multiple times because Johnny was as ruthless. 😂
I haven't seen the movie myself YET and I will soon but I AM kinda surprised that I'm not seeing more people call it a total rip-off of Friday the 13th. Yes i KNOW it is shot in a third person angle following the killers point of view and that's a first in slasher movies and YES I also know its suppose to be a throwback to old slashers and its SUPPOSED to be inspired by those old 80s movie's INCLUDING Friday the 13th and the directior has said so himself BUT come on, does ANYONE think it might be a little TOO CLOSE to the Friday the 13th movies ???? Its SOOOO SIMILAR! The names are similar Johnny/Jason. Looks practically Exactly like jason, put a hocky mask on Johnny and he would BE Jason, even down to how he's dressed! He walks like Jason. He doesn't talk/is mute like Jason. He's in the woods stalking people like Jason. Has no emotions like Jason. The back of his head looks very similar to Jason's. Hell, even Johnny's background story has to do with his mother similar to Jason's. To ME its one thing to be inspired by old 80s slashers and to pay homage to them but its an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THING to almost DIRECTLY COPY the WHOLE THING and ONLY change your camera angle while filming it, put a different mask in the killer, and slightly change the back story. Come on people, i cant be the ONLY ONE thinking this same thing. Look, I miss good old Jason too and it feels like FOREVER since we've seen one of most people's all time favorite slashers on the big screen sporting his good old hockey mask and hacking people up but are we all just so starved for another Jason movie that we're willing to except what really looks like to ME anyway a total rip-off of Friday the 13th ??? Could we all just be so hung up on the whole camera angle thing that it's blinding everyone to the fact that it's just a Friday the 13th movie with a different title and a different mask on the killer ??? It just seems a little disrespectful to Mr. Voorhees if you ask me. Who knows, maybe after I watch it I'll feel different but the similarities ARE UNCANNY and NO ONE can really argue/deny that!
It's true, they're very similar, but you can still have a good time with Johnny and his kills. I'm sure you'll still prefer Jason, and that's okay. Have you gotten a chance to watch it yet?
Chris... pull back on the overkill of A.I. description. It's killing the relatability you had before it. I'm still watching though!!!!.... tiktoker G.A.TURKS
This movie was boring except for the yoga girl scene. This movie was so infuriating. The kill in the shed took forever. OMG! And the last 10 minutes I wish I had left for the parking garage.😡
Think I'll pass on this one. Not really a fan of slasher films and this one sounds like it's boring. Oh.... I'm still waiting for that plaid shirt serial killer that offs his victims, then takes their mics as trophys movie to be released. 😉
Can't wait to walk around the woods slow from murder to murder with this slasher. Im curious about how it is thilling when you know where the killer is. But the kills are going to be sweet.

I hope you have fun with it! It's artsy in spots, but there is a kill that's one for the books!!
This film tested my patience.
Especially the ending
It tested mine and it won. I suffered slow-moving-boring-film-PTSD.
this one's being received much better than I expected, I'm excited for it

Love your reviews! Conveying the nuances
I will be seeing it on Thursday night! I can't wait!

Sounds pretty good.I've been waiting for This movie for months. I'm seeing it tomorrow night can't wait.
I wonder what would happen if you followed a determined foodie in this form.
Love your reviews 😊😊
Thanks for posting this video
Due to him not being so human, I’m cool with the face reveal. Great video!

Maniac 1980 also from the killers pov
Is it more enjoyable than Civil War? If not, it’s a solid pass for me. Different is sometimes not good.
I’m really excited to see this because of its unique arthouse perspective and that it’s basically an unlicensed Friday the 13th movie
Jealous you got to see it early
Decent 6.8

No sex or nudity? I'm out.

How do you mean? I don't use any AI... I read the synopsis from IMDb, but everything else is pure me. 😁
This sounds kinda violent in nature. Not sure I will watch.
Michael, Freddy, Jason, Art*
Very true!! Art's on a whole other level though!! He and Johnny need to pair up... they're both quiet and brutal!
@@MoviesAndMunchies I’m really looking forward to this one
@@opethmikeArt as in Art the Clown?
& Johnny, which movie is he from?
@@raymonddarhk20 Yes, Art the Clown.
Johnny is the name of the villain in the movie being discussed in this video.

Its so damn boring! I was looking forward to this movie. Just the sound of walking over and over again. 1 really good kill

Sorry to say it but you are lowkey wrong in my opinion about the face reveal. Makes it much more awesome if you were to ask me.
Is that oxymoron? A great slasher movie? More are fairly bad…
Movie was garbage it wannabe hatched
Oh man, it was so long and boring i fell asleep
