A 3 day shakedown hike on the Art Loeb Trail in North Carolina to prepare for the John Muir Trail. Northern trailhead at Camp Daniel Boone to Ivester Gap.
That water crossing would have me shaking in my shoes!!! Yikes! That Robin’s egg was beautiful! What a sweet discovery! So glad you and Plum Hiker finally met in person- I love when Try-Try friends meet! 💕 Looking forward to day 2!
Loved the video Scrambles. I liked plan B for 1st nights stay. Looked like tough climbs and water crossings. You did a great job with them. I would agree that the mountains down South can humble the best of hikers at least that was my experience l. Look forward to parts 2 and 3.
Oh my! I have a love/hate with Mr Loeb! 😂 I love to dayhike sections, but coming up out of the Boy Scout Camp is rough! I backpacked it in three days with my hiking girlfriends two years ago and on paper, it seemed like not that bad mileage each day. Whew! Butt kicker! We camped at Black Balsam the first night and Butter Gap shelter the second night where we saw the synchronous fireflies and it was magical! Was super glad to get to the parking lot of Davidson River Campground on day 3!
I’ve been watching the footage of the floodwater damage that just occurred in Yellowstone. Now you know why I took the flash flood warnings so seriously. The plan A campsite was right next to a river. I was happy to be safe with plan B.
I love this hike. And that waterfall and crossing…amazing and terrifying simultaneously!! Great job!! 🥾🥾🥾❤️❤️❤️
Thanks! Keeps it both beautiful and interesting. Lol
