It's hard to believe that Paul is gone. He will be greatly missed.
So happy to come across this, and so sad for the loss of Paul O'Neill. Great interview! So glad I could be there for Jon and Paul's proudest moment of their career!!

I was his best friend in 1975. He loved Renaissance. DNA in his shows.
Jon is good fun if you get ten minutes with him. He has the talent (nearly) of JS Bach and right alongside Lennon, but the ego of a motorhead roadie. ... Jon Cheltenham uk prog rock ;)

Nobody believes me but I saw these guys when they were called Avatar and were covering AC/DC songs at USnset Beach in Tarpon Springs. I was friends with their buddy band Brian, Ed, and Steve!

That's why I say music has no borders. I grew up in Iraq and didn't leave till 2007. Most ppl don't know that we had TV channel that shows only music and they used to play all those songs and videos. Many of generation who grew up in the 80s in Iraq, listened to every music and band in the west. Like I said I grew up in Iraq and my friend was q crazy heavy metal fan. He was Muslim didn't care for religion. Just a short story I wanted to share with those who are watching real interview with real musicians. Not today's jokes. American idol or the voice!! Thats why the played Mozart and not Taylor swift.

For those who always say "Give us Savatage back! Reunite!", I'll tell you this :
It will NEVER happen. Jon is done with Savatage. D, O, N, E.
He will focus on the TSO now that Paul is gone. Plus, he had two strokes and I don't see him tour in his state.
Watch the videos, listen to the albums, because that's all you'll ever get from these guys anymore. I'm not trying to piss on the party but it is the truth.

I hear you, man. But look, there's not enough money to be made.
Actually, it would cost them more than they would make.
When I saw them, back in '96, '97 and '98, they couldn't sold out a venue. For example: in Paris they played in a 1,500 seats hall. We were 300 tops. They do well in Germany, they could fill a venue that size. But let's face it, Savatage has never been but a club band.
They won't spend thousands of dollars to play clubs around the globe.
TSO pays their bills, and they're happy with that.
(At least that's how I see things. I may be wrong, but I don't think so)
