    Savatage is unbelievable. They’re the greatest metal band you’ve never heard of. If their first album “Sirens” had been released by a more publicized record label, I really think they’d be up there with likes of Metallica and Iron Maiden. Don’t forget about these guys, all of their work is top notch. Keep reacting to them! :)

    • @tritontransport
      @tritontransport 2 года назад

      They wanted to put out some more music but I think Paul O’Neil dying pretty much ended any hope of that ever happening, at least any thing of substantial quality. Jon said in an interview that Savatage essentially died when Criss died and it just died a slow drawn out death

    btw, that's not Jon in the vocals, that's Zach Stevens. Jon played the keyboards and was still a composer, but wasn't oficially a part of the band then. He returned after his brother's death.

    I learned of Savatage back when "Edge of Thorns" was getting major airplay on the local rock station 95X back in 93. I can only hope that Chris Caffery is right and that Savatage is truly working on new stuff this year, it's been over 20 years since 'Poets & Madmen' came out

  • @TawmisGreybeard
    @TawmisGreybeard Год назад +1

    Excellent. I think in another Savatage reaction from you guys - I mentioned listening to "Edge of Thorns" (clearly you have - I am still catching up after discovering your channel). I wish they would somehow cut the footage they have of Criss to more videos - because they had to have way more footage, for example, filming this video - and the other videos, live footage, etc., and create a mega Criss Oliva memorial video - with all these unseen footage of Criss for everyone who misses him and his music. Savatage is hands down - the MOST UNDERRATED band in my opinion. I know a lot of people say that about a lot of bands - but they had everything - musically, they were masters of their skill; lyrically, they sung songs with intelligence and stories; and the talent there, throughout the entire band was unparallelled and unmatched. In my channel I've collected a bunch of Savatage related stuff (live tracks that I cut to an image and share for others to enjoy and what not).

It was the time when internet was still a bit limited and people used to share information via TCP\IP on local networks. I found this one guy that shared a folder with everyone - full of metal music that I've never heard of before. Downloading Savatage folder was one of best discoveries in music for me.

    Zach Stevens band rehearsed across the hall from my band at the studio 15 complex in Rockland, Ma. That was the late eighties, early 90's! Zach had just graduated from VIT in California where he met Matt Leff who had just graduated from GIT! Matt brought him back to S.Shore Ma. and started a band and started writing and rehearsing! In another note their drummer Jeff Plate went on to join the Trans Siberian Orchestra which he is still a member of! Zach has also toured with TSO! Great guys and what a fun time in our young music lives at Studio 15! 🤘🏻

    Correction, Jon is not in a this video. He left to do Doctor Butcher and Zak Stevens took over as lead vocalist for all of the rest of their cd’s except their last one, Poets and Madmen when Jon sang lead vocals again. John came back to the band after Criss’s death. He sang a few songs on the next three cds, but, mostly, played keyboards and wrote songs.

Songs like Sirens, The Dungeons Are Calling, Power Of The Night, City Beneath The Surface, Hounds, Strange Wings, Legions, The Price You Pay, Warriors, Damien, Conversation Piece, Commissar, Morphine Child, and many more are just some of the amazing songs Savatage have.

    What's also not commonly known....
    Without Dawn (Criss' wife/widow), Zach had NO chance in joining Savatage - had she not pushed hard for the group to give him a shot. And they did. Dawn herself was a tragedy; she was messed up from that accident, as she was in the car with Criss, on that highway. She unfortunately died in 2005.

Not with the new content in the beginning now the silver "v" is just stuffed in the corner.

    ► Savatage did not "turn into" TSO, but TSO definitely was "spun off" from them, as was Jon Oliva's Pain (JOP), which is probably more likely to be what Savatage "turned into", as Jon used this vehicle to finish, record, and finally release all the unfinished works of his late brother Criss.
