Great cover of a wonderful song. Last year, I made plans to shoot a feature-length documentary about the making of The Fox and the Hound (because Disney has never bothered to do it themselves), but I couldn't get Disney interested. I had conversations with director Rick Rich, who admitted to me that the production was a rough experience. Rich also wrote the music for "Goodbye May Seem Forever".
@@chookie6462 There was a tremendous amount of discord between the older production team who had been at Disney since Snow White,and the new generation of animators. Conflict was mostly centered around creative differences and which direction the film was going to go. A big bone of contention was weather or not to kill off Chief, along with a scene involving two herons swooping through the air…one voiced by Charro…singing a song that much of the younger team felt was utterly stupid…right after Tod was left at the preserve. Ultimately Don Bluth resigned midway through and took quite a few people with him to start a new production studio. Other people defected to Ruby Spears. Much of the new staff that remained went on to produce the string of hits that followed,Tim Burton being one of them. As for the older staff, most retired after “The Fox and the Hound”. So yes there was a lot of Drama. “The Fox and the Hound” was to Disney what the “Balance” album was to Van Halen.

A tough song to properly convey the deep emotions into the music when playing solo, and you pulled it off beautifully. Well done. Many people connect with this song not just from the movie but through dealing with loss. When I was in high school, a similar arrangement was played at church during my friend’s funeral (killed in crash). Everybody knew the song. A few years back I hummed this song as I drove my elderly dog...laying across my lap....to the vet...his last visit. 😞 I could relate to that sweet old grandmother in the film.
