my morning jacket were lucky enough to open for tom petty years ago and every night i would stand there in awe and watch them wondering how it was possible that one man could write so many hit songs, and not only were they hit songs, but they were actually GREAT songs too! tom's music is something we humans are lucky to have floating out there in such a major way in our lives. its always so nice when you hear tom's voice somewhere unexpectedly- its like running into an old friend. he seemed like a nice person, i wish we could have made some music together. thanks for the music tom, here is a tribute version of one of my all time faves! #thebestofeverything

I was thinking the same thing with a little touch of the doors thrown in there but Jim James not Jim Morrison. either way that's the idea of a cover not a sound just like the album with a different singer it's your own interpretation of the song so many people don't understand what the term cover version means

I dig it. It looks like he’s lip syncing for the sake of this video but me don’t care. Jim James/My Morning Jacket like to do cover songs. I saw Neko Case open for MMJ in Tuscaloosa several years ago and for the encore Neko was brought back on stage for a rendition of the Stevie Nicks/Tom Petty song, “Stop Dragging My Heart Around.” Most of the young college students who were in the audience had no idea what song it was. I let it slide though because I was one of those young college students at one time about two decades before that.
