Portillos is a staple here in Chicago. You should have tried the actual chocolate cake. Amazingly good for a fast food place. Their salads are really good as well. Thanks for the honest review.
After our visit, we were told about their chopped salads and definitely want to give them a try. Thanks for the recommendation on the actual chocolate cake. We bet it’s amazing. Have a Happy New Year and thanks for watching.
Hi there, @dadof3579! We really appreciate all of your kind comments and your support of our channel! Thank you so much, and we hope that you and your family have a happy and blessed new year too!
I grew up on Portillos when I lived in Chicagoland. It's changed a lot since Dick Portillo sold it to Warren Buffet's company. I haven't tried the chocolate cake shake but it sure looked thick. My family and I ate on one this past Tuesday. The Italian beef is delicious.
That is so cool. We don’t have any Portillo’s down here yet. Hopefully they’ll continue to expand so we won’t have to travel to Florida or Indianapolis to visit one. We can only imagine how amazing they used to be if they were once better than the food they serve now.
It's a great option if you're looking for something quick, but also hearty. We hope that you have a great trip to FL next month. Hopefully you'll have great weather on your trip. Have a Happy New Year and thanks for watching, Sandra!

I've never heard of that place & we have been to Kissimmee a lot of times. I gotta have ketchup on my hot dogs lol. It's the only way I'll eat them. Very nice video 😊
Not sure where we have been, but we have not heard of Portillo's! All the food looked so yummy! David and I are debating what we would get. lol The cheese sauce did look really good. Thanks for the heads-up about the rudeness. Definitely unnecessary! Great video as always. Happy New Year!
We LOVE Portillo’s, and if you’ve never tried the Maxwell Street Polish Sausage definitely put it on the list! Also, in the summer time they have Lemon Cake along with the Chocolate, and it’s game changer! And even though it’s “illegal” to put ketchup on a Portillo’s dog, I say lock me up, they can’t stop me! 😂
We will put the Maxwell Street Polish Sausage on our list of things to try on our next visit. We look forwarded to returning to a Portillo's again sometime. We're with you - we prefer a good mix of ketchup and mustard on our hot dogs ourselves. We hope that y'all have a Happy New Year!
If you think it’s good today, you would be blown away by the food, service and atmosphere from the original days. The days before Dick sold the company. It’s just not the same but better than going without. Seems you did it right by ordering an Italian Beef, the cake shake and a dog. Next time, get the sandwich dipped. Then eat it with a fork. It’s also okay to put ketchup on your dog. Many Chicagoans do.
@@RobZelinka We were told after we went here that we should've tried the sandwich dipped. We can only imagine how good that must be and will be a must on our next visit. It's also good to know that it's not really frowned upon by Chicagoans to use ketchup. We put ketchup on top of our ketchup here in the south. Have a Happy New Year, Rob.

Thanks for your comment about Henry - he keeps us on our toes lol. We hope that you have an amazing New Year and thank you so much for commenting and watching, Cindy!
Sorry to hear about the rude people. That's too bad. Portillo's is something we drive HOURS to get, as the closest one to Western KY is in Champaign, IL. We LIVE for the beef sandwiches, but we like them completely dunked so that you have to eat them with a knife and fork.
I think all of the menu items are really good. If you get a chance to go back, try my favorite sandwich, the italian beef and sausage sandwich (locals call it a "combination") with sweet peppers. Absolutely fantastic! I think they have the best fries of any chain.
The sub looks great and cheese sauce but 1 thinh I cannot tolerate is people being rude. I'm soft hearted and that would just ruin my day. Thank you for sharing this with us. I found it funny that Chicago has that law in place.
The rudeness is a Kissimmee Florida thing, not Portillos or a Chicago thing. Yes, it's sacrilegious in Chicago to add ketchup to a Chicago style hot dog, most true Chicago style hot dog local spots have signs stating not to even bother asking for ketchup or they don't carry ketchup at all. It's because the Chicago style hot dog is perfect as is and the ketchup ruins it. It's a Chicago staple and taken seriously in Chicago. As far as fries, when done right the fries are steamed in the wrapper with the hot dog and they have their own distinct flavor that you don't miss the ketchup. Now Portillos doesn't do the hot dog/fry steam wrapped so you do need ketchup or cheese sauce (or both) for Portillos fries.
The gravy sounds like it would've been a nice addition for dipping! We'll definitely have to try that out next time. We hope that you have a Happy New Year, Joan!
Sadly, now that Dick is gone from the daily operation, most employees are not invested in the company. It’s just a job to them. I too have experienced poor service at my recent visit in Texas. A sign of the modern day I suppose
Brent, the sad thing is that there are rude workers everywhere anymore....its not nice either...i retired from jcp in 2011 and there were many days i didnt feel like dealing with customers but i went in with a smile and treated them like royalty because they are spending hard earned money there...people dont have any respect for their job.. i see it everyday sorry to say....but glad you enjoyed the food ,it looked delicious...❤️

I haven’t eaten at Portillos in a looong time, but about five years ago, I was a DoorDash driver in Chicago. I would pickup at both the River North and South Loop location. While I never experienced rudeness, I did experience subpar customer service. But the restaurant continues to be a big hit in the burbs, with extremely long lines in the drive thru.
Hi Pam, we’ve haven’t been posting as much since we’ve been staying busy with some holiday events. We hope to be back to posting twice a week again beginning next weekend. We hope that you have a Happy New Year!

I ate at the Portillo's in Indiana outside of South Bend this past September. I had the chocolate cake shake and it was so good that is it was the last thing I ever did it would have been worth it.
What was the cost for 4? I know it's near Disney and tourists central but there wasn't many patrons there. We had a "Chicago Dog" open in Altamonte Springs a year ago and lines out the door for about 2, maybe 3 weeks and they closed within a year. We've been to "Medieval Knights" in the mid 90's and paid $50.00/adult and saw a great show but got soup w/ a spoon, chicken leg quarter which they bought for less than $.50/ea, a potato and a veggie w/ no utensils. If you can't make it on 192 in Kissmee or International Drive you're doomed. Party of 4 = $500.00 if not more not including drinks.
It you enjoy Chicago dogs and hot beef sandwiches, they serve up some of the best. You should give them a try sometime. We hope that you have a Happy New Year, Holly!
Chicago guy.At first I did not like Portillo because,to me ,it’s I don’t like “ cute “ places.Recently, the food has gotten to me.I am a big fan of the Polish with grilled onions on a hot dog bun.Though there are many places for a combo sandwich,Portillo’s is in my top ten. The no ketchup deal is like telling a kid about the boogeyman
In this video I have never heard of Portillos in Chicago but I have been there 2 times and it is very cold that's why they call it the windy city and I have been to FLORIDA several times as it reminds me of home which is HONOLULU HAWAII and I am talking about the weather very warm but my question is how much was this food?because I know that food in Florida is not expensive rather very reasonable not like NYC where it can get very expensive depending where you go but I know where to shop and I look for deals and if it's not on sale I just walk away and wait for it to come on sale as HONOLULU HAWAII can get very expensive no matter where you go no deals maybe the flea market at ALOHA STADIUM only on the weekends Saturday and Sunday and there are a lot of vendor's out there as I look for garage sales and they do advertise maybe in the VILLAGE VOICE but I won't travel very far or I can go to Craigslist under item's for sale as I have done that before but year's ago and people love to hagle as I am very much aware of but it's got to be in good condition like anything else like a used car and I will have the BLUE BOOK sold by BARNES AND NOBLE and in NYC there are many different locations and they also have indoor flea markets like going to 14th street to the farmer's market and you can find things that they sell in the supermarket and a lot cheaper same product but half the price and I don't look for junk working and in good condition and you can barder and they know it but it's extra money for them as they don't want it.And it doesn't bother me at all
My daughter and I ate there at the Portillos on Palm Parkway back right after Thanksgiving. We did a quick trip to Epcot right after Thanksgiving. We were very hungry after the long drive so we went where it wasn't too crowded. We were gonna go to the Raisin Cane right next door, but the line was way too long. So we both go the Italian Beef sandwich. We really wasn't impressed with them. As best as I can remember, there was no melted cheese and no steak sauce to put on them. Unless I didn't see it. I was expecting a typical Philly cheesesteak sandwich and not just beef with some hunks of bell peppers on them. They weren't what we typically expected them to be. Now would I eat there again? Yes, absolutely. I would try the burgers and hot dogs though. So just because we weren't too impressed with the beef sub, we will go back and try other items.
We didn't see them for sale at this location, but I bet if you were to ask, they may offer to sell you one. All restaurants should start using these trays.
@@EveryDayIsSaturdayTV Thank you for responding! After your vid, I spent over an hour trying everything to find them to no avail. Closest thing was small ones for cars. I need one for my overbed table for my home hospital bed I'm confined to. It would help me SO much trying to not drop items. Tomorow I'm going to contact their corporate office to see if they'll sell me one, even a used one, or tell me who their supplier is. I recognized IMMEDIATLY how much one would help me! (By the way, I subbed you because I like your family, your "all American", like mine.)
@@EveryDayIsSaturdayTV Gotcha. I never liked cheese sauce to begin with. But ketchup with fries is pretty standard throughout the whole country and rightfully so.

The subs look great...but noooooo to that hotdog. I do mustard, chili, onion and slaw...or any combo of those. I took one bite of a hotdog years ago that was dressed like these. I'm not a really picky eater, but that had to come out of my mouth..lol. Has Gentry gotten into a growth spurt? He's almost as tall as Jennifer now! Hope ya'll are having a great day and God bless!
We will definitely have to check it out on our next trip and have added it to our list. We appreciate the recommendation. We jus looked it up on Google and it looks great! Have a Happy New Year, Randall!
Portillios on Palm Parkway has screwed up our orders on countless times and never apologized or gave a refund. We always get cold fries and since they opened in May of 2022, they raised their prices several times. They no longer serve ribs or tamales or garlic bread. It’s not the same since Dick sold it. Their beef is bland and greasy. We are not going to Portillios in 2024
That's a bummer to hear. We were still be fans of the food, so we can only imagine how good it was before they started franchising. Happy 2024, Rachelle!

There’s NO place for rudeness in pubic service in the food industry. Everyone has a bad day. But as I heard a Boss said to a coworker ( check your attitude at the door .) But I too acknowledge some customers can be annoying. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Food looked delicious. But would I dine there probably not

If you can't make it on 192 in Kissmee or International Drive you're doomed. Party of 4 = $500.00 if not more not including drinks.
I live in a suburb of Chicago, never been to Portillos. 😊
Thanks for watching!
That's Jim Belushi
Good catch!
:50 Jim*
Try the Lemon cake you will love it
Good morning from CRAZY Gatlinburg' guys!!🏞️😂
They should fire the rude people. Thats not helping the company or customers.
We agree! Customer service is just as important as the quality of the food. We hope that you have a Happy New Year, @truth4004
That was Jim Belushi, but close enough!
Great catch, @aljames5072! Thanks for watching!
I believe the guy in the photo on the wall was Jim Belushi not his brother john
Great catch, David and Jewls! Thanks so much for watching! We hope that y’all are having a wonderful week!

Man I wish they had one in Miami
We bet that they'll be in Miami soon enough. They seem to be expanding everywhere. Thanks for watching, James, and Happy 2024.
@@EveryDayIsSaturdayTV Thanks a bunch Have a Great year too!
You have Arbetter's in Miami. That's even better.
May you have a blessed 2024. ❤❤❤❤
While there’s a ton of great restaurants in the Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg area this place would make bank big time in those areas.
That was in Villa Park IL
I go to the Portillo's here in North Lake IL
Idiotic that anybody would consider it odd or wrong to put ketchup on a hot dog.
Ketchup and mustard go well together on burgers and hot dogs.
We enjoy ketchup on our hot dogs too.
Did they have malts ? Those are easier to drink from a straw.
We didn't see any on the menu, but agree that those would be a lot easier to sip. We hope that you have a great weekend, Eldon! Happy New Year!
Portillos is the ONLY place for Italian beef sandwiches!
Jim Belushi ;)
I want 1 of those trays, do they sell them?
Jim Belushi
Good catch!
Don't see any prices on the menu????
That look like Jim Belushi
Jim Belushi.
Me here just doing som analysis on the stock lol..
Why are they using cheese dip for fries? Use ketchup with fries only.
@@thedirtybubble9613 lots of restaurants have cheese sauce for fries. It must be a regional thing if you’re not familiar with this. It’s very common.
@@EveryDayIsSaturdayTV Gotcha. I never liked cheese sauce to begin with. But ketchup with fries is pretty standard throughout the whole country and rightfully so.
Get the Italian sausage with hot peppers it's FIRE 🔥 I eat there all the time..
Hello and happy new year 🎈💐

I'm Sorry To Encounter Ignorant and crazy people, We Hope And Pray You Have A Safe Week
We agree! Thank yo uso much, Tyler. We pray that you have a great week as well and a Happy New Year! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. We appreciate you!
Check out Hotdog Heaven in Orlando amazing
We will definitely have to check it out on our next trip and have added it to our list. We appreciate the recommendation. We jus looked it up on Google and it looks great! Have a Happy New Year, Randall!
Ever since it was sold quality has gone down. There’s definitely better options now in Chicago
No tamales unfortunately.
We are not going to Portillios in 2024
Not as good once they franchised…
That's a bummer to hear. We were still be fans of the food, so we can only imagine how good it was before they started franchising. Happy 2024, Rachelle!
u accidentally said 😅
Ignore the first response I love this family the food looked amazing Brett I think you accidentally said John Belushi instead of Jim but there both great we live in Georgia I asked my husband where Kissimmee was and he told me and asked why and I told him and he laughed I hope your family has a safe and Happy New Year ❤
The food was really good! That’s hilarious about mixing up the Belushi’s. We didn’t notice that until now.
Leave it to me to notice something like that have a great weekend and a Happy New Year ❤️
There’s NO place for rudeness in pubic service in the food industry. Everyone has a bad day. But as I heard a Boss said to a coworker ( check your attitude at the door .) But I too acknowledge some customers can be annoying. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Food looked delicious. But would I dine there probably not
ugh florida doesnt deserve this.
I don't why you people don't ACTUALLY EAT ANYTHING WHAT U CLAIM IS GOOD! THE ADULTS THAT IS!:(((((((((((
Hi Mahmoud, it sounds like our channel may not be for you. Thanks for watching!
