Thanks for the info. I felt the size of the Hatagane would be for small projects, however, I imagined doll house furniture or models for huge train displays. I have only seen the small ones, I can't picture how adorable the large ones are....lol.
I just found your channel a few days ago. Subbed after the 1st video! I really enjoy your work, style of content, humor & explanation of each step you're taking in your process. Thank you for the "relaxing" style of content you're presenting. Please don't fall into any of YT's algorithm hype or pitfalls. Keep doing what you're doing & you’ll be successful with your channel 👏! -Tony 🇺🇸
Thank you for the sub and encouragement! I enjoy woodworking, making a video and then communication with people after each project so as long as things stay positive, I'll do my best to keep doing this:)
Yeah, I always take longer than I expect, but I suppose the reason why we do this is to enjoy the process. If we are slow we just get to spend more time doing what we love. @@YRTi
Nice job YRTi, your dovetails are perfect! I didn't know about Hatagane clamps, but they seem very handy for small glue ups. When making small projects, large clamps get in the way and also add lots weight to the project and make it tip over if not balanced side to side. Thanks for the info.
@@YRTi kind of off topic but I was wondering about sharpening and maintaining the blades of the Japanese hand planes, have you tried tapping out or uradashi yet?
@@darrenmacmartin9392 Yes, I do it once in a while with a railroal anvil I bought from ebay (about$40). I mean I'm supposed to do it less often but I never get it right and always re-adjust my blades to make them somewhat work before a project. When I figure it out or have a chance a professional shows me how, I'm planning to buy a good kanna from a blacksmith as a reward to myself:)
@@YRTi I’m not sure where you’re located but Kezurou-Kai USA is having an event out in California Sept 30-Oct 1st, there will be demonstrations by folks of just that sort of thing. They also have online classes every year covering different topics related to Japanese tools. I’m not going to make it out there this year but am planning on attending possibly next year or the year after. I also highly recommend the Giant Cypress woodworking blog run by Wilbur Pan, he’s very knowledgeable and really great about answering questions.
@@darrenmacmartin9392 Thank you for the information! I’m based in South California so I can take a flight to get there easily but yeah, it’s too soon. Thank you for the information though. I didn’t know there is Kezurou Kai USA. I haven’t been to Japan for while but maybe next year, if I have a chance, I’ll plan to visit a blacksmith there. Hope US $is as strong until then:)
Those Hatagane clamps look very similar to the ones used for violin repair work the only difference being that the violin claps are flexible to form around the arched surfaces. I feel like I should look in to Hatagane clamps they seem useful for that.
Thank you for the comment. One friend told me about the violin clamp things, too. Hatagane isn't flexible and I think the back stop of Hatagane isn't as strong but it seems like the mechanism is pretty much the same.
Great vid again YRTI, it always staggers me the price difference between uk prices and prices from places like china. but sometimes the they are not made as good
Thank you! Yes, in general, I can't compare Aquascutum with Shien but I forgot to say, I was talking about the exact same product from the same manufacturer but it's that much different...
Those clamps look really nice for small things. I would have bought some if they weren't almost 14€ a piece :( A bit too much considering one or two is not really going to be enough.

Thank you for the comment! It's not a multi functional clamp but surely useful. and the biggest one now I found was almost 4ft, haha!
Very beautiful from the idea to the final piece. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you as always! I think this project was successful:)
Great video, thanks for sharing! Looking forward to that box joint video too!
Thank you! I'll do my best for the video:)
Nice clamps and good job on the dovetails 👍🏼
Thank you:) The clamps are very handy!

Nice dovetails. You are really getting good at woodworking and videos. congrats.
Thank you! but now, I feel I also have improve the efficiency... Good people can probably cut 2,3,4+ joints while I cut only one, haha:)

Very beautiful!
Thank you:)
Excellent 😊. Love that you do not use mechanical electric tools.
Thank you! I enjoy not only the end product but also the process to make:)
This is a great project and the new workbench is awesome!!!
Thank you! I may need to put some shims under the feet but it's sturdy and I enjoy using it:)

So nice 🎉 I wish I could afford these little clamps but they are a small fortune here 😢

Thank you for the comment!! It just needs to be more popular to have a reasonable option but it's too pricy to be popular for what it is!!
