What I love about this group is that there really wasn't a lead singer. My favorite Eagles song btw. Great choice for the first time listening to them❤
The guitar duet with Don Felder on the twin-neck Gibson SG (6 and 12 strings) and Joe Walsh on the Fender Telecaster is iconic. You can tell they rehearsed a lot and put out a great live performance.
Born into The Eagles. This was the song my "mother" listened to on repeat when pregnant with me. It was said that I should have come out of the womb singing this. Extraordinary and a hallmark. Next: "People Everyday" by Arrested Development!
The Eagles have a rule in the band...you write it, you sing it!!! And boy do they have a bunch of great vocalists!!!🎶🎼🎵🎸🎧🥁🎤🎹🤘🔥🔥🔥 I'll be a die-hard fan till I die and hopefully beyond!!💜💜
Don Felder (double necked guitar) wrote the chord progression that loops over and over throughout the song, and one night, after a hard night of drinking at the Whiskey a Go Go club on the Sunset strip, Don Henley (drums) drove all night through the desert with the music playing over and over. As he drove on the lonely road, contemplating lots of stuff in his altered state, he passed neon desert motels and cactus and wrote a song about the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Once you cross that line and accept the responsibility of adulthood, you can never go back and feel that innocence again. You can never be a kid, and go back to carefree days of fun. He is amazed by the amount of other meanings people ascribe to it. Lots of stories of the occult, horror, satanism, ect abound this spooky song.
The producers wanted to cut the guitar solo/duo at the end because they thought it was too long. The Eagles fought for it and it made a perfect ending to an amazing song.
Most of the band members were Linda ronstadt's backup band so she was mainly responsible for getting this band together and she supported them from the beginning
The Eagles are still touring. Saw them last year at Thunder Valley Amphitheatre Northern California...They were amazing! So glad you didn't pause at the guitar solo because it's probably the best solo I have ever seen or heard. I saw them at "Day On The Green" Oakland back in the 70's. It was the absolute best era for for us high schoolers~Great reaction!
I was just 5 years old when this came out just before Christmas in 1976. Mom and dad only listened to Elvis, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Loretta Lynn. I visited my friend next door, and his older sister was kneeling in front of the living room stereo with this song starting just as I came in and took off my boots. I literally thought it was some kind of magic. It was so foreign to me. This is a band that all the members are the lead singer. Don Henley here (one of many singing drummers going all the way back to Ringo) Glen Frey, are the primary writers and sing most of the hits, but Randy Miesner on Bass sings their biggest hit 'take it too the limit" and Joe Walsh on the telecaster guitar sings as well. That is their biggest strenght and weakness. 4-5 front men in a band is a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. The tension with that many big egos in a room for much time will spoil the brew and adding cocaine to the mix caused many riffs and physical threats to each other on stage in concert.
All the Eagles are lead singers. Rule is "If you write it, you sing it." There is no Hotel California, it is a metaphor for the music/ movie industry, filled with greed, sex, money, fame, lust. "You can check out, but you can never leave,..." what a line for the industry....caught up in the greed of the industry. What wonderful song !
Two of the greatest guitar players ever! Don Felder & Joe Walsh! ❤ I met Joe Walsh back in the 80s. He said the song can mean anything you want it to, but they were thinking about the music industry & fame when it was written. Wanting to be a rock star, the excitement of "making it". Then the problems with producers, lawyers, money, agents, drugs & alcohol. Having to give interviews or travel when you're sick after the "new" wears off. And the publishers own you - fronting you money & making you play to pay it back if it doesn't hit big. He said that a few, like the Eagles, made it big enough to tell them all to stuff it & now THEY control how many concerts, when & where. But few make it that big & go bankrupt or are under the demands of the producers, managers agents, etc. "You can enter any time you want, but you can never leave." That's what happens to many performers & groups. 😢
The guitarist on the far right with the red bandanna on his head is Joe Walsh. Ace guitar player and solo artist, his LIFE’S BEEN GOOD TO ME is famous.
This song and the band will forever be one of the greatest! I highly recommend that you go down the Eagles rabbit hole! I believe you’ll find a lot that you fall in love with!
It’s about addiction The girl in the doorway is the enticement to try it . ( the hotel that you can never leave & the beast that can’t be killed , the alibi you bring are the excuses you use The dance is the real reason you use - to remember that high your chasing or forget the pain in your life .
The entire band with the exception of Don Felder all sang lead at one time or another. Don is the one with the double neck guitar. He wanted to sing lead on it was either Victim of Love or Life in the Fast Lane and he even recorded a voice track for it, but heard Irving Azhoff took him out for dinner and Don Henley recorded a voice track for it and they sat Felder down after and said listen to these and tell me which one is better, and he had to agree it was Henley's version. Saw that on a documentary I saw about the Eagles.
Man, I grew up with this music. I never have understood that "some dance to remember some dance to forget." You nailed it for me. I have never had the poetry/lyric thing in my brain. I am pretty literal when I read/hear things. It never was a "poetry is stupid" thing, I just don't have what it takes. Used to, I was little jealous of those who do get it, but everyone has their groove. I watch these reactions and learn so much more than what I came into the room with me. Very cool.
When I was a young man way back in the 60s, we’ll before this song was written, a popular sign that could be seen in many bars was “Some Drink To Remember, Some Drink To Forget”. Don’t know if that’s still so today, tho, as I haven’t been in a bar in many decades ~
One of my faves of all times. If you haven’t heard Dire Straits do Sultans of Swing. You need to listen to that one ASAP. Another great one if you haven’t heard it is In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins but you have to watch the live version.
I'm a golden oldie ... love these classics,,, just ran across you today when I saw you playing the Eagles... I subscribed to you for that reason.... keep it up
Love it! Seems so long ago and still just a moment ago. Another band with "Stevie Nicks" as the lead singer and, has ties to these guys is, "Fleetwood Mac". If you haven't listened or looked in on "The Midnight Special" Live 1976 "Rhiannon" it is legendary. Stevie Nicks also went solo and "Edge Of Seventeen" Live 1983 is super fab. ✌
Great reaction, KIaBR! I came of age in the late 60's - early 70's when this music was typical of what was on the radio. You would enjoy "Comfortably Numb" live at the Pulse concert by Pink Floyd. It's rabbit hole so deep you may never return.
MY GENERATION I AM 75.This song had to be written in code due to censorship at that time. Play it again and just listen for the sex, drugs and rock and roll. It is all through it. And that is exactly what they lived for years.
Fun fact: it was this song/album that brought about the very first “PARENTAL ADVISORY” label on an album. religious groups were unhinged with this Eagles album. With so much hype about it being evil and even has folks claiming evil hidden messages could be heard when the album played in reverse. Of course these reasons alone myself and millions of other teens bought this album.
Ha! You nailed sir. That has always been one of my all time favorite lyrics. Another one of my favorites is coincidentally from another Eagles song titled “Saturday Night” and is also coincidentally about dancing. The song is sung from the perspective of a man wistfully looking back on his younger days and maybe feeling a little lost. At one point he says (sings) “Someone show me how to tell, the Dancer from The Dance.” Very poignant in the context of the song. Keep up the good work! If you do decide to check it out, do the studio version. It has the best harmonies mix and clearest lyrics. There is another great lyric in this song (I just listened to it again). I challenge you to pick it out. Ha!
Eagles! Best ever! Might want to check out their "Take It Easy" and "Take It To The Limit". Honestly, any Eagles song you choose will be fantastic! Loved your reaction subbed for more.
This band has 3 lead singers, depending on the song and who wrote it. There are other bands that have more than one singer. To name a few: The Beatles - 2 The Cars - 2 Earth, wind and Fire - 2 Fleetwood Mac - 3
Is there a more famous guitar solo duet in rock-n-roll history? I don't think so. I do believe "Hotel California" is one of the top American rock-n-roll songs of all time, along with Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" imo.
All of the lyrics are great in this song but I agree with your choice of which one impressed you. Great song! Great band! Great reaction. Unfortunately the Eagles are notorious blockers😢
I don't think there's an Eagles song I don't like, and their range is incredible. Listen to Seven Bridges Road and then listen to Those Shoes. And if you're going to dive into the 70s music Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are definite musts, to begin with, that is. Time from Pink Floyd is a great song.
3:22 "I Think It's Dope Thats The Drummer Is The Lead Singer" Actually, Don Henley sings Lead on a couple of Eagles songs, but everyone takes turns singing Lead on a variety of songs that Eagles have released
If you haven't react to Lynyrd Skynyrd Free Bird live 1977 at the Oakland Coliseum find the best outdoor concerts you'll ever see in the audience is part of it
You have to imagine you’re riding down a 2 lane highway, way out in the Southern California desert. It’s getting dark and you’re tired and suddenly you come upon a hotel with a hostess and all a weary traveler could hope for. Then things begin to get weird and go sideways. You try desperately to get out, but there’s no escaping THE TWILIGHT ZONE. (With a definite Spanish flavor to the music.)
Just a heads up: It’s only a matter of time before Don Henley and his band of Lawyers have your reaction removed for “copyright infringement”. they are always scouring the internet and RUclips for their videos and insist they be removed.
I posted about a song you might like. But wish to add this about Hotel California. Some people see it as just a creepy ghost type song about a real but haunted hotel. But it's a comment about how the entertainment business in California traps some people and even if you get out of the dark side of that industry with it's drugs, sex, and outlandish lifestyles, and you can leave it all behind -- the experiences remain with you. Thus the verse, 'You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave'
I fully believe that this song should be on the citizenship test. Just the applicant and a karaoke machine. And if you dont hit that California note with enough patriotism, sorry about your luck.
Coukd you please do a reaction to night traveler a new group who has amazing music either eletric love, i still love you, Dont forget about me, Ghost hotel or stick around. Thank you love your channel!
You want an even better lyric in this song? In spite of the crappy captioning in this video, the lyric is actually "Her mind is Tiffany twisted, she's got the Mercedes bends."
“You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave”. An AWESOME lyric I’ve used many times in many situations.
and it's made me wonder why (as far as we know) no one has approached them about making a horror movie out of the song...
That line reminds me of “1408” where the main character is told he can checkout any time
Love that movie lol@@ladygothic7699
This is one of the greatest lines EVER written.
Last line of the song. I wonder if that was because there’s nothing else to say except that you can never leave. Kind the final word on the matter.
One of the greatest rock songs ever written.
What I love about this group is that there really wasn't a lead singer. My favorite Eagles song btw. Great choice for the first time listening to them❤
The Don Felder/Joe Walsh guitar at the end just gets better every time I hear it.
that's just pure joy and talent on full display.
The drummer is "A" lead singer. The whole band are "THE" lead singers. True talent.
Henley & Frey primarily, but yeah Meisner had 'take it to the limit' and Walsh had his solo career
@@Chibason In The City
Right, but Henley sings lead on this song.
The guitar duet with Don Felder on the twin-neck Gibson SG (6 and 12 strings) and Joe Walsh on the Fender Telecaster is iconic. You can tell they rehearsed a lot and put out a great live performance.
I'm so damn old i got to see the 50s, 60s, and 70s in color. You should have seen it, spectacular.
Don Henley said it was a song about the journey from innocence to experience in the LA music scene in the 1970's
It’s was metaphoric! It applies to all vices!
Check out Take it to the Limit from the same concert. The bass player, Randy Meisner, knocks it out of the park
If only RUclips or The Eagles don't block it. It seems Hotel California is the ONLY Eagles video that doesn't get blocked.
The lyric is so profound that you feel it, some dance to remember some dance to forget.
The guitar duel at the end, that's all l can think to call it, is spectacular and it gets me everytime.
Born into The Eagles. This was the song my "mother" listened to on repeat when pregnant with me. It was said that I should have come out of the womb singing this. Extraordinary and a hallmark. Next: "People Everyday" by Arrested Development!
Best lyric in this song by far "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave".
And every reactor just glosses over the meaning. Nowadays does check out any time not mean die? Maybe it was different back in the 70's.
Even world-renowned economists have adopted this final phrase to describe certain national situations...
The Eagles have a rule in the band...you write it, you sing it!!! And boy do they have a bunch of great vocalists!!!🎶🎼🎵🎸🎧🥁🎤🎹🤘🔥🔥🔥 I'll be a die-hard fan till I die and hopefully beyond!!💜💜

You’re right brother- that lyric is epic-
such a deep meaning in so few words
The producers wanted to cut the guitar solo/duo at the end because they thought it was too long. The Eagles fought for it and it made a perfect ending to an amazing song.
You should do more Eagles, one of the BEST bands of the 70's. I'm in my mid-70's and grew up on this music and still listening to it today !
THE EAGLES WROTE/sang the story of my life!!
Most of the band members were Linda ronstadt's backup band so she was mainly responsible for getting this band together and she supported them from the beginning
The Eagles are still touring. Saw them last year at Thunder Valley Amphitheatre Northern California...They were amazing! Sorry to burst your bubble but they're just lip syncing, Henley in particular
I was just 5 years old when this came out just before Christmas in 1976. Mom and dad only listened to Elvis, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Loretta Lynn. You need to watch them perform this at their induction to the hall of fame.
No autotune, no drum machines, no more artificial other than the electric guitars/bases.
One of the greatest drum fills and guitar solos in the same song!
Really liked your obvious focus, Bravo Sir! Welcome to rare, pure rock and roll! Well done Sir.
Thank you sir 🙏🏾🫡
They have no bad songs!!🤘🤘
Elvis, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and the Eagles! The Goats of Goats! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That’s a strong list!
Nothing like driving around Southern California snd you are young listening to Don Henley singing 🎉
My dad hooked up internal speakers throughout the house and played this song 🎵
🔥
A VIBE
Hotel California is the first Eagles appearance on your channel...go big or go home. This is "THE" Eagles piece!!!
Two of the greatest guitar players ever! Don Felder & Joe Walsh! ❤

I’m glad that you reacted to this. I was nine when this came out. This is my childhood music.
Great first choice. Peace Love!!
When musician smile while doing their performance , you feel it is real well crafted music
I can watch this over and over. The guitar duet is insane, the bass during the intro, vocals, lyrics, whole thing, perfection.
This song and the band will forever be one of the greatest! I highly recommend that you go down the Eagles rabbit hole! I believe you’ll find a lot that you fall in love with!
Of all the reactions I’ve watched, yours was the first to call out the drum buildup, which is my favorite part (next to the guitar duet).
It’s about addiction The girl in the doorway is the enticement to try it . ( the hotel that you can never leave & the beast that can’t be killed , the alibi you bring are the excuses you use The dance is the real reason you use - to remember that high your chasing or forget the pain in your life .
To the pain...
I'm dancing as fast as I can.
They're all geniuses in their talent! My favorite band ❤️
Love people appreciating older music great reaction
Lead singer/drummer is Don Henley
Guitar red Bandana is Joe Walsh. Guitar double neck Don Felder. Other guitar is Glen Fry
La voz la musica la letra una y otra vez. Una invitacion a ver mira niñita de los jaivas
It's actually "She's got the Mercedes bends " - a clever little hidden pun from Henley & Frey 😉
The entire band with the exception of Don Felder all sang lead at one time or another. Don is the one with the double neck guitar. Felder sang Visions
@tutortle1820 thanks I did not know that. I will check it out. Felder sings some of the songs when he plays solo. He doesn't sound too bad.
The only rock song I know of that is based on the beat and tempo of a Tango... Genius!
Joe looks so young but so was I. I was 11 when this came out and I fell in fing love with music
Man, I grew up with this music. I never have understood that "some dance to remember some dance to forget." You nailed it for me. I have never had the poetry/lyric thing in my brain. Please check out the very beautiful and awesome acoustic live version from their 1994 Hell Freezes Over "reunion" concert as well 😎

They sound better live than most today in a studio with a computer doing their singing
nice reaction, brother....classic song. classic group....
Don Henley singing lead in this one. He had a great solo career with short hair.
I have a Don Henley song coming up soon 🙏🏾
Great reaction check out dire straights alchemy live sultans of swing and telegraph road
Great reaction, KIaBR! I came of age in the late 60's - early 70's when this music was typical of what was on the radio. You would enjoy "Comfortably Numb" live at the Pulse concert by Pink Floyd. It's rabbit hole so deep you may never return.

Great song

Hotel California is California....especially LA and Hollywood. At that time, people were coming to "make it" in Hollywood.
I mean , very very well crafted music
Good reaction mate!!
Appreciate it
Dude, pretty much anything by the Eagles is great. Check out Lyin' Eyes, Take It Easy, and I Cant Tell You Why. All classics!!
He’s only the leed on this tune…they all sing!
Eagles! Best ever! Might want to check out their "Take It Easy" and "Take It To The Limit". Honestly, any Eagles song you choose will be fantastic! Loved your reaction subbed for more.
The lyric: "stab them with their steely knives," is a jab that their (mostly) friendly rivals, Steely Dan.
All jundras baby All jundras.
Hey man you need to listen to the Eagles, do a song called "THOSE SHOE'S" give it a shot. Be listening. Thanks
You should react (GFR ) Grand Funk Railroad inside looking out

Check out Don Henley the drummer he had a great solo career. "Dirty laundry"
Listen to the acoustic version omg
All of the lyrics are great in this song but I agree with your choice of which one impressed you. Great song! Great band! Great reaction. Unfortunately the Eagles are notorious blockers😢
There are 4 legit lead singers in the band.
You should react to the video for the song "Piano Man" by Billy Joel also. Nice lyrics there to.

"I Think It's Dope Thats The Drummer Is The Lead Singer"
Actually, Don Henley sings Lead on a couple of Eagles songs, but everyone takes turns singing Lead on a variety of songs that Eagles have released
If you haven't react to Lynyrd Skynyrd Free Bird live 1977 at the Oakland Coliseum find the best outdoor concerts you'll ever see in the audience is part of it
There was really no lead singer in The Eagles they rotated leads
Drums are about the hardest instrument to play while singing lead. Not a bunch out there.
Drummers as lead singers: Levon Helm, Phil Collins, Karen Carpenter, Don Henley…..
Ringo Starr
If you want a good rock song then listen to Inside Looking Out by Grand Funk Railroad! It's the live version with millions of views. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thus the verse,
'You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave'
I fully believe that this song should be on the citizenship test. Just the applicant and a karaoke machine. And if you dont hit that California note with enough patriotism, sorry about your luck.
Coukd you please do a reaction to night traveler a new group who has amazing music either eletric love, i still love you, Dont forget about me, Ghost hotel or stick around. Thank you love your channel!
You want an even better lyric in this song? In spite of the crappy captioning in this video, the lyric is actually "Her mind is Tiffany twisted, she's got the Mercedes bends."
Mercedes Benz (not bends)
first listen?
Why are you listening to their live version first? The studio version is much, much better.
There are so many inteepitation of this song what it means my opinion a little bit of a ghost story and for you to decide lol😅
