  • This video talks about the different styles of Bachata and their differences.
    1. Dominican / Traditional Style Bachata
    2. Sensual Bachata
    3. Urban / Modern Bachata
This video is just a brief description to get an intro on understanding the different styles of Bachata. This is just our view from how we see the different styles and we are making this video for those who want to have a little more structure in their dancing. If you just want to dance and not worry about much details, you can dance Bachata anyway to any style you like as long as you have fun :)
Bachata is a dance from the Dominican Republic, and we can say all bachata is "Dominican" but this video is made mainly to understand and identify how dancers usually dance each type of style in Bachata.

That cuz bachata is from Dominican Rep. So technically it’s the only real bachata, everything else is made up Americanized stuff

People should learn this dance (DR) style to support Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. When life gives you lemons make lemonade!

It would have been helpful to see you dance a few bars of each.

Dominican Bechata is usually performed out on a public sidewalk just like they do in the Caribbean 💔☹️ but they're hurting rn. Support the Dominican Republic..

Question is: can you mix it all up during 1 song?

    • @BachataDanceAcademy
      @BachataDanceAcademy  Год назад

we suppose you could if you really wanted to, but it is not common, as each style is particular to the style on song.

The music you dance to in traditional bachata has a faster pace usually. I don't think the bachata sensual movements will go well with that.

What is the predominant style that you tend to teach? It seems like urban bachata is the most common style that ive seen in the US in dance schools and socials. Do you think that is correct?

Great video! But I would say that it is worth noting that Colombian style salsa (and some of the cali style basics) is very similar to cumbia, so I don't think it should be looked down upon just because it's not a linear style, or the same as dancing sensual bachata to a dominican song (which is definitely awkward)- especially given that it is the way that most people dance to salsa in social events/parties in most of latin america.

Patrick Blue thank you Patrick! Was mainly just doing a general example, like regular salsa here in LA 😁🙏🏾.
I agree with you and understand :) for sure, no one should look down upon anyone or any style as long as people are having fun like I mentioned in video description in the writing.
There are even Dominicans that dance the same way they do to a Dominican song to a prince royce or urban song. 🕺🏾👍
I have family that dances the Cumbia style to salsa in social at home parties too haha.
This video is just to help those wanting to understand the different styles if they do want to adjust in a way to make more sense so it’s not as awkward, but again, as long as you know and still choose whatever you want from there and have fun, no problem! :)

I truely hope that Bachata Senual is just a little trend and ends up in the dumpster. It's usually just a guys feeling way too confident while being not even dancing most of the time and a women who wanted to attend in acrobatics but ended up in the wrong classroom. Most sensual dancers have 0 musicality and just show off wave after wave even if a song is fast. But even most remixers have gotten pretty silent over the past year so I guess Bachata sensual will be gone soon.
I highly respect dominican bachata, it's just too difficult for me. I really like to dance urban though. There's at least some form of resemblance to the original with a few pieces added for people who can't move their feet at lightning speed :-P Bachata should be an expression of fun, not a "dance" for some emo kids who can only pretend to dance.
