    Um... dont practice karate on uneven groud and larege rocks very artistic but bad for you body and technique. That said practicing lunge punch and strectching on the wet sand is ideal

      You should be prepared to defend yourself on any surface. You would never train on an unstable surface at full force. Karate was no taught in dojo originally. It was taught in gardens, grave yards, beaches, etc. Matsumura Sokin taught the Okinawan king in a horse pasture on a hillside behind Shuri castle.

      Karate is about self defense. If you are not prepared to defend yourself everywhere then it is just a ritualistic dance.
