James is a very grounded person. Watching his videos always reminds me and I believe others too - not to complicate things and remember what is simple and most important at the same time. Thanks, Roman for introducing him to ones that don’t know him.
I've encountered photographers solely focused on themselves. During street walks, they become defensive and territorial about specific spots or scenes, hindering collaboration. I value the camaraderie among photographers who engage in genuine conversation and enjoy the craft together. Instead of competing, why not uplift each other? It's not a race but a collective journey.
Yeah I think I enjoying shooting travel/street photography on my own 99% of times. The 1% I head out is with a good friend of mine mostly to chill and take some shot in specific locations but otherwise, I enjoyed going solo as I can work on my own terms. Particularly when I do travel photography.
There’s something magical about James’ photography and yet he’s such a humble guy. His channel, where is often self-deprecating, really does standout in a world where everyone is trying to be Peter McKinnon. It’s really refreshing to see people like him and Roman talking about their work in a way that is honest and giving.
I love the videos that James produces. Never thought I would see a video about him. Found out some things about him that I did not know and may not have learned by just watching his videos. Good concept, worth another go.
I absolutely love James, and having you and him together is like a photography dream come true. You both have different styles, yet somehow I find a lot of similarity in your work. I love this this is video, and would love to see more!
This was so good I watched it twice. I was intrigued by James' answers to a couple of questions: 1) Finding your focus enables distraction elimination. I needed that. 2) Find out what (photographs) you love and why. I needed that, too. Thanks for putting this together - you both are inspirational to me.
A really strong start! You asked a good mix of articulate questions to cover a lot of ground & not predictably so. The mixture of chat with BTS worked well.
I love seeing people I've followed on RUclips for years in someone else's videos. Gives you a different view of them, most importantly the genuine feeling you get. Great concept!
This is a goldmine of a video. James Popsys had the best beginner gear recommendation - to leave budget for photography travel - when I first got into photography some years ago. You're some of my favourite creators on here, it's wild to see you collaborate!
That was really good Roman. Your questions were thoughtful and the mixture of them with footage from Lisbon , James’s images (preceded by video of him taking them), and his answers, all in a well paced and not over long package is a fine recipe.
Loved seeing you two together in the other video. I love these videos where photographers interview other photographers like Paulie B or Jvpes. This video was such a treat to watch.
Great video Roman, really enjoyed it, I would definitely watch more in this format, James was an ideal first friend / photographer to interview, I love both his work and watching his channel, as I do yours.
My gosh .. where to start… I absolutely love this. I was watching James’s video with you and I thought I’d come over and now I had subscribed. James is a funny sausage. When I very first started watching his channel and looking at his photography, I kept on telling myself “ no not my bag”… then I returned and then I kept on returning and I kept on thinking “Gosh, I I’ll keep coming back to look at his photos and could stare at them for ages”…. Kept asking myself why I liked his photos so much and you know what it is sense of curiosity and searching I feel when I look at his work. I’ve gone from thinking, no not for me to actually thinking he now has to be on my favourite photographers. I’m so glad to come across your work now.. what a wonderful video. Thank you so much. I enjoyed it so much.
This new format is a very good idea to get familiar with other photographers! (Except in this case, I am following James since several years) I love your photos of Lisbon especially I spent 10 days in that city from begin to mid of November - we could have met, I remember all these locations ...
Walking about, chatting, taking photos -- which you show to pay off a point -- wonderful -- really works on this channel. Good questions, Roman, queries that don't break the flow but add to it. I learned a lot about another photographer's point of view, such as "look for compositions that provide more questions than answers." More, please.
Absolute fantastic episode. I’m following the both of you for quite a few years now. I must say, today’s episode is probably one of the most enlightening of all episodes of both channels. Roman, you managed to ask James so smart and pointed questions that he could give really dense but simple answers. Thank both of you guys do much 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for this great video, Roman, thank you for your sophisticated questions and James‘ honest answers, which are very useful for me and others. I am following both of you since longer time and I am very glad to see you together. Nice event.
Great video. Really enjoy hearing photographers views on why they take their photos. Whatever your genre you can always learn from others. Please continue the theme.
Thanks for this interview. I've been following James for a couple of years and love his work. This gave another perspective. Now we just need to have you answer the same questions for yourself.
THIS WAS A BRILLIANT IDEA FOR A VIDEO, JUST BRILLIANT! I love seeing your face Roman, you really don't give yourself enough credit, but I'd love to see this format of videos more as well! You have a great personality for this kind of follow around interview. You give them plenty of space to do their thing while asking some genuinely interesting questions.
I love James' channel. I'm an engineer and love the tech side of photography and understand technically how my camera works, but the art side of photography is much harder. James really helps with that.
I'm very familiar with James but it was great to see him giving his candid answers to your questions. This was a really enjoyable format and it makes for a tighter feeling of community with the artists we follow. It would be great to see this as an ongoing component of your video content. Love the documentary aspect and the length and tempo were perfect. Even settling down in a cafe for a bit more intimate convo would be enjoyable. Great work.
I can’t think of any two photographers I’d rather follow along with looking for interesting compositions like you both do so well. And, you have a lot of fun (and coffee) along the way. Cheers for the season and through 2024.
That was great. James is such a greag guy from what we know of him and love his work. Format was great. Simple, showing some of James photos and asking him a few questions. Great video.
This is a nice format, I'd really love to see more like that. James being in the first episode surely helps, he is one of my favourite photography RUclipsrs, even when he switched from MFT to FF - I found his channel because he created valuable content for me learning about the system, but I stayed because of his personality driven videos. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos of this format.
I just moved to Lisbon a month ago and you just reminded me to get out and start taking more photos of this beautiful city. Will be going out with my camera on a photo walk once the weather improves.
Great format! I thought you asked great question, and I liked the pace of the video - it left me time to absorb what I was seeing and James’s answers to the questions.
Love this style, Roman! And I am a big fan of James too, but it was great to see him in this relaxed interview-style conversation. I picked up things that I hadn't heard on his channel 😊🙏
I've watched a bunch of James's content but your interview still brought out some interesting ideas of his that I hadn't previously heard. Good format, yes, more please.
Great video. Good questions and even better responses from James, inspite the added difficulty of doing an interview while tackling inclines. Nice photos around Lisbon too despite the overcast.
I really enjoyed the video and the new format, Roman!! Also there is a way to know new photographs that you value. I knew James about seeing through your eyes is completely different.
Walk and talks are fascinating to me and, obviously, others when you see how many views Paulie B gets. I think we would enjoy this format from you because it puts us in touch with artists from a different continent and culture.
Román, great format. Hope to see more of this videos, they are very interesting and it’s a way to learn about more photographers in your area. Thanks and take care.
I am a huge fan of Paulie B’s Walkie Talkies and it was so great to see this. I loved the European vibe, James’ thoughtful responses to your great questions. It was also very well put together. More please 🙏🏻
Thanks,Roman, A very enjoyable video & love his outlook on photography. Life can be , or already is, very complicated & fast, so keeping it simple is a refreshing attitude that I strive for as a hobby photographer.
Great video, Lisbon looks awesome, I'd be shooting everything on every corner. Love the colours, the textures and I'm a sucker for narrow, windy streets or passages. Liked the format Roman, 👍
coming along both of your guys channels yesterday and really felt in love with your style of photography and the relaxed pace of videos. same with this video, liked it very much! thx for your content and inspiration
Loved this, and think it would be great to see more like it...always good to get an insight into how others work, especially in a casual format such as this!
Nice video, good questions and good answers. Glad to see you ask James about his favourite focal length, that's something he's never really talked about on his channel.
You certainly got my attention with the title, as I am a faithful follower of James' RUclips channel. Even though I am familiar with and have been very much enjoying your photos on Instagram, this is the first video I see from you. Great job!
This is such a good format! Id absolutely love more, and also longer talks, even maybe a podcast listening to you chat and interview other photographers on their styles and stories and philosophies and inspirations. Thanks for doing this Roman 💜
I love these kind of videos. I'm very much a hobbyist and have always found listening into conversations between experienced people to be hugely valuable. Would love to see more.
I really enjoyed this, Roman. And James! Some great questions and thoughtful answers. Maybe you two could do a "vice versa" version with James asking you, Roman, the questions!
I love these formats of video. I love seeing the perspective of other artists but also being questioned and having the dialogue from a fellow artist can give so much more depth if you are willing to invest the time in that direction.
I love Jame's photographs. I have some of the same subject interests so his photos are extra interesting to me. I also find many of his insights very apropos.
James is a very grounded person. Watching his videos always reminds me and I believe others too - not to complicate things and remember what is simple and most important at the same time.

Agreed! Photography is meant to be fun with friends, not a competition.

I tend to ditch those kind of people very quickly@@snapsbyfox
Yeah, until you have that one photographer who follows you, just to go and take the same shot

This is wild. Literally the two photographers I follow every week!
Same!
Good video I miss James I used to watch him back in his Lumix days
I love the videos that James produces. Never thought I would see a video about him. Found out some things about him that I did not know and may not have learned by just watching his videos. Good concept, worth another go.
James is #1 on my list of RUclipsrs I’d aspire to go have a pint with (Roman excluded 😂) this format feels a bit like that.
I was about to start crying....
@@snapsbyfox ahaha I hoped I snuck the edit through in time 🫶🏻😂

Enjoyed the walk and talk format. Already follow James. Your questions revealed an additional side of him.
I loved the format. I follow you and James and enjoy you and James...learn so much...Thank you.
Two of the photographers that inspire me together, an absolute treat!
You two are two of my favorite photographers, so it's fun to see you together. This interview and walk around was great!
I love seeing people I've followed on RUclips for years in someone else's videos. Gives you a different view of them, most importantly the genuine feeling you get. Great concept!

Well said James and great interview Roman. I love this format, it was concise and the questions gave me ideas to reflect on. Thanks!
Love this format Roman. You could not have chosen a better, more grounded guest than James for your first walking interview.
I love James' channel. I'm an engineer and love the tech side of photography and understand technically how my camera works, but the art side of photography is much harder. James really helps with that.
I’ve enjoy both your channels and seeing you both together is fun. Thank you for doing this.
For someone who's never done anything like this before, you did it well. Enjoyable taste of Popsys' quirks and informative. Thanks.
Thanks Roman, I follow both of you. This was great seeing James from a different perspective. Please do more !
I like this format and hope you do some more of it. James is one photographer I already follow and he is good at what he does. Well done.
Really enjoyed this, twice. “People value photos because people know that people have made them.” Something about that I love. Thanks Roman and James.

Great video. Good questions and even better responses from James, inspite the added difficulty of doing an interview while tackling inclines. Nice photos around Lisbon too despite the overcast.
Great interview with James Popsys. I follow James every week. I will now take a look at your videos. I found you when I saw James’s name.
I like this format a lot! Reminds me a bit of the Picture Profiles series by Mike Chudley. (which is a compliment for the both of You).

Format is great, Roman. James is one of my mentors, I too have fallen in love with the marriage of man and nature. You can find it anywhere of course.
