  • French lawmakers have passed a motion of no-confidence to topple Prime Minister Michel Barnier's government.
    The fall of his three-month-old cabinet is likely to deepen France's political crisis. The country has been reeling from a polarizing snap-election that left the parliament divided into three blocks, none of which has a majority. This result risks leaving France without a government or a budget as it enters the new year. The no-confidence motion was supported by left-wing and far-right lawmakers.

This, which benefitted Macron, left him in the unenviable position of having to "herdcats" and nominate someone to be PM which that coalition would be happy with. As another said: he shouldn't have called for snap elections...

      It was already a shakey coalition from start with only one objective that was to prevent LaPen from forming govt. Otherwise they disagreed pretty much of everything else... This is the problem of multi party democratic system.

    We need this in Australia. Our PM Albanese has been the biggest disappointment of my political life. Overseas more than home. Focusing on employment not housing...we know what comes first, Albo.     Wanna bet, Macron will nominate another right winger for next prime minister, whoever that is will face the same vote of no confidence and get kicked out.
    Not sure how long Macron wants to continue this, but the only way to get out of this would be nominating a left winger and Macrons party supporting that one.
