Hello! Thank you for the detailed info on the 300H. I’m planning on purchasing one within the year. You made everything easy to understand. I currently own a Hybrid vehicle, so i won’t have to relearn some of the basics. :) Thanks again! :)
Hi Rachel, So glad you enjoyed the video! I'm sorry they didn't mention them to you. I have two channels, one for each store. I'll make sure to pass along your feedback though to help the team get better with it. So glad you found us! -All the best, Melissa
Thanks so much for watching! Depending on the model and year of your Lexus, it is usually in the Setup Menu. Menu > Setup > Navigation > Favorites > then you can edit or delete Favorites, Home, etc. However, the new 2022 NX destinations are managed inside the Lexus app on your phone. I hope this helps. Thanks again!
I love these videos!! Thank you! I am wondering if there is a PDF file of the voice commands you've found most helpful or a full list? Again, thank you for your amazing videos!
Hi Lee! I'm so glad you are loving the videos! That's awesome. Regarding the voice commands. There are apparently so many that there isn't s singular printed resource. However, there are PDFs on LexusDrivers.com: drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/resources/manuals-warranty There are lists in the main Owner's Manual, Owner's Manual Quick Guide and the NAV/Multimedia Manual. Hopefully this will get you what you're looking for. Thanks for tuning in.
Thanks so much. Yes, all IS models come standard with voice commands. The command capabilities will vary depending on the year of the vehicle. The best place to find the compatible voice command tips is in the Owner's Manual and the NAV Owner's Manual. You will see different shortcut tips and lists. Very helpful for learning the system. Hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in.
Hi Melissa, I have learned a lot from your videos. But, not sure how to use voice commands to adjust just the passenger temperature when AC is set to Dual. Have a 2021 ES350. Have tried different commands, but they adjust both temps at same time. Thanks
Hi! Unfortunately it is not possible to adjust the passenger side temperature in that model and year vehicle. Some of the new models have a different electrical platform and different microphones. They are able to apply voice commands to the passenger temperature selection when the passenger gives the command. I'm sorry that is not on the ES yet. It might be added when the vehicle is redesigned for 2026. Thanks very much for checking in with me.
Many of these voice commands will also work on the 2022 ES. I also have a deep dive tutorial specific to your model that might help: ruclips.net/video/EP61qvBv3kU/видео.htmlsi=hwBDkatTsp_jCurq Here are some voice command sections: 1:12:17 NAV Voice Command 1:13:24 After you have a destination… 1:15:43 Cancel Route 1:17:41 Voice Command a Radio Station 1:22:59 Call by Voice Command Thanks for tuning in with me!
I just purchased a 2018 Lexus NX F-sport this week. I found your channel, as I was looking for info on troubleshooting the Bluetooth audio. Voice commands do not work. I have tried to train the voice recognition 3 different times, but it will not recognize anything I say. I have my iPhone connected, and I can make and receive calls but my voice cannot be heard by the other party. I’m beginning to think the microphone is not working. You have some very helpful videos and I have subscribed to your channel.
Hi Brenda, Thanks so much for tuning in. There can sometimes be an issue with the mic not booting up correctly. Here's something to try: Push and release the Talk button on the steering wheel and say "72 degrees." If it can't understand that, try "Help." Those are very basic commands and if they aren't working it my be that the system can't hear. That will mean a trip to service for a "hard reset." That's when they disconnect the battery on the car for about 20-30 minutes. Then when they turn the car back on the software for the car will reload. That usually fixes mic issues, unless the mic is damaged. Then it would need to be replaced. The NX is also compatible for the Apple CarPlay retrofit update from your Lexus dealer. So if you already have Apple CarPlay and you are pushing and holding the Talk button to access Siri and the mic is working with your iPhone for Apple CarPlay there could be another issue. Let me know what commands you are trying to use. I'll see if I can help.
@@NorthsideLexus thank you so much for the info. We disconnected the battery for about an hour and then reconnected and now the microphone works perfectly. 👍
Man this lady is gangster af. I didnt know my ES could do half of this stuff and ive had it for over a month. Thank you. One question i do have is how can you make the voice command louder. Ive tried so many times to look for a volume prompt on there and cant find it

Thanks for watching! I'm so glad it was helpful for you. I had a Prius for years, then moved to an RX, then NX Hybrid and now an NX. Needless to say I've been with Lexus for many years so it's all I drive. I absolutely love my NX. The gas mileage on the NX Hybrid was definitely better, but the pricing on my last lease worked better on the gas version. The UX Hybrid is outstanding for gas mileage, but was a little small for my family. No matter what you choose, I hope you love it!
@@NorthsideLexus thanks so very much. I live in Duluth, Ga and I am 2 minutes from the Lexus dealer. Happy Holidays. I did subscribe and gave a thumbs up.
@@NorthsideLexus , a quick question; What are leases usually available on NX ? 36 , 48 months, are they options? and can one opt for 15,000 miles year ?
Melissa I need help for my new NX350, with 9.8” screen. I went through a car wash today. I thought I was going to get stuck inside the car wash, due to my sensors on the car. I knew at any minute the break was going to come on, and I was going to get hit in the rear by the car behind. I made it out ok, but I won’t do that again. There must be a way to turn off the sensors when going through a car wash?
Hi Norm, If you are in a drive through carwash, it is best to turn off the Parking Support Brake that does the auto braking and the Intuitive Parking Assist or parking sensors. The quick way to turn those items on and off in the NX is to click on the shortcut menu soft button on screen (it has a lot of little boxes and is next to the one that says "Climate"). That opens the shortcut to all kinds of safety features. Just click to turn off and then you can turn them back on after the car wash is finished. If you have automatic rain sensing windshield wipers you should turn those off as well. Hope this helps. All the best!
You bet! The Auto mode for your 360 camera can be turned on if you: - Car turned on. - Foot on the brake & shift into Drive. - Press the View Button to turn the cameras on. - Click on the the word Auto in the bottom left corner of the screen. You should see a small light to the left of the word Auto that turns on. - Shift back to Park. You should be all set :)
Hi James, It is possible that it has been turned off in settings in the MID. Here are the steps to check: Using the panel of four arrows on the steering wheel: use the left or right arrows to move to the Settings Menu > use the up or down arrows to highlight PBD > push the "dot" button in the middle of the arrows to toggle from "off" to "on" I hope this helps! Thanks for being here with me!
Hi Melissa, Thank you for the video! I am a new owner of a 2020 LC500 Inspiration Series, and am hoping there is a way to use a voice command to navigate to a contact's address (I have an Android phone, and the 2020 does not support Android Auto). I haven't found it in the manuals yet, and haven't gotten a command to do it. Do you know if it's possible, and if so what the command is? Thanks!!!
Hi! I haven't seen that command work outside of Android Auto or Apple Car Play. Even with the systems that show Contacts listed in the NAV search options, I was not successful getting the voice command system to "Get directions to so and so's house." I always had to say the full address. I wish I had a better solution for you. Thanks for checking in with me.
Greetings from Bahrain. Thank you for a great video. Its very helpful. My RX350 2021 doesn't have all voice commands. I can only tag voice command for a phone. I have no idea why?
Hi Ahmed, perhaps it is about phone compatibility or how the contact names are being transferred to the system in the RX? That might be a good question to ask your cell phone provider and see if it is something they can help with. A 2021 RX should have all of the commands listed in your Owner's Manuals and more. Best of luck with your troubleshooting. Thanks very much for tuning in from Bahrain :)
Hi Kagisho! Thanks so much for watching our videos. A Q&A would be wild. I've done them at live Lexus training events, but not on RUclips. With so many people watching from all over that could be a real adventure. :)
Hi Melissa, I am from the UK and love your Channel, the top presenter for detailed information on how to get the best from your Lexus. I have a 2016 RX 450h,love the car but for me the voice command feature is so inaccurate,it gets what I say wrong probably 60 to 70% of the time rendering it unusable,so have abandoned it since I bought the car 2 years ago,my Lexus does not have the voice training option?not available in the Uk or the Enform app, frustrating, any suggestions please. keep up your excellent work, well done, thanks.
Hi LAM, Thanks so much for watching the channel! I'm very glad the videos have been helpful for you. The earlier generations of the voice commands system can be cumbersome for sure. I think checking some of the lists in the different Owner's Manuals might help. I can only access the US versions. Do you have access to a UK version of the Lexus Drivers website? The manuals under the resources tab are in pdf format and you can search though them for a wealth of info. Here's a link for the US site specific to your model and year: drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/resources/manuals-warranty Check starting on page 250 in the NAV OM: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM48E92U/pdf/OM48E92U.pdf for some tips and look through for shortcut tips. Hope this helps :) Thanks again for being here!
fantastic! The volume seems sort of wonky with bluetooth / spotify compared to the car's radio. I had to crank the volume to hear songs through Spotify and then I had to turn the volume way down when going back to live radio since it was way too loud. Still troublethooting this...
Glad it is almost all set. I have another tip for you that should solve the volume issue. Each app has it's own volume. Here's what to do. Get Spotify playing from your phone via Bluetooth. Then turn the volume on the phone (not the car) all the way up. Then adjust the volume on the car. A few updates ago the phone content builders decided to make every volume independent of the other sound sources. So call volume, Siri volume, etc. are all separate. Let me know how it goes.
HI, I just bought a 2018 Lexus ES 350 with 36k miles. My question is I think this car takes longer to warm up fully, is this normal?? I have to drive 10 mins/3 miles for the needle to be in the middle of the of cold/hot. The needle only takes 5 mins to move some where I can put the heat on. Please take in mind this is the winter.
Hi Mathew. This is a question that may be better for a Technician to answer so they can give you a better comparison to other vehicles like yours. You could also ask if there is any type of adjustment available for the system that they would be able to adjust for you. Sorry I can't be of more assistance. Thanks so much for tuning in.
Hi @Joseph! Yes, all Lexus vehicles going back for many years have voice commands. Check the different Owner's Manuals for tips on things you can say and operate in your Lexus with voice commands. Here's a shortcut to the resources for your Lexus: drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/resources/manuals-warranty
Thanks for the great question! This is an app customization. Here's how to adjust it: - Open Google Maps app on your phone - Put in a destination and start the directions - Swipe up on the small gray menu bar near the bottom of the screen - Open Settings - Scroll down to Map Display "Color Scheme" - Select "Day" from the list It defaults to Automatic You may have to close and reopen the app to see the changes on your car or it might happen automatically. I haven't tried changing that setting yet. Also these steps are for an iPhone. They will be similar for Android. Let me know if you need any other help! Welcome to The Lexus Virtual Classroom!
@@DDR88767 Hmmm. It could be the night mode from the car's system taking over? Have you tried turning that to Day Mode yet? Here's the tutorial for how to do it: ruclips.net/video/NxNS54cz04A/видео.html Hopefully this will solver the mystery. Fingers crossed.

Interesting. That is not a feature I am used to hearing on any of the Lexus models I've seen. Did you have a radar system installed or any other aftermarket feature that would connect to your phone? Some of the older models did have a calendar feature in the menu. You could check the calendar feature and see if their is an audible setting at start up. Best of luck with it.
LOL! I try to get back to everyone who asks me a question. I'm sorry I don't have videos in other languages. What model is your 2022 Lexus? If it doesn't have Lexus Interface, the settings will be different, but Spanish as a selectable language has been on the Lexus vehicles for many years. Let me know if you need more help.
Great video! Thanks. Can you tell me if there is a voice command to turn concierge mode off? There is one to turn it on but I can’t find one to turn it off.
Hi Z, thanks for watching. Unfortunately there is not a way to voice command it off. Here's the section in the video that discusses that. 27:14 starts the Climate Concierge Mode section and 27:48 is where I talk about not being able to voice command it to turn off. Definitely not a smart design choice in my opinion, but I also don't like that the "Auto" mode for fan can only be turned on with the button, but can't be turned off by pressing it again. This seems to all be following the same logic that you have to take over the fan to turn the feature off. Not as easy to do on the LS and LC. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching :)
Thanks so much, Janet. Strange about your ACP. Some things to check: - Make sure you have an authentic Apple cord or data certified cord - On the car check the following: Menu > Setup > Projection Settings > ACP On (Android Auto Off) - On the phone check the following: Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > If this feature is turned on then turn it off or go to "Allowed Apps" and turn on CarPlay - Turn the phone off and back on, plug into the USB port in the arm rest, look for Apple CarPlay on the car screen and then give permission on the phone screen. Here's the ACP tutorial video if you need it: ruclips.net/video/Yatf9H11jQM/видео.html
@@NorthsideLexus A non-compliant Apple cable is almost always the cause of this. A lot of the cheaper cables are NOT certified especially for the later models of iPhones and iPads.
@@Airdale_NavyAX3 exactly. We find that all the time. That is the first thing we mention to Guests having ACP issues. Cords that look like an Apple cord can really only be for charging, or may be for another device and they aren't compatible. A lot of people don't understand that all cords are not created equally. I like your term "non-compliant." Explains it well. Thanks so much for tuning in!
On the 2020 Lexus ES350, if you have your iphone hooked up via USB and voice command a radio station change, radio will go silent and USB symbol appears on screen. You must hit radio button to bring back radio. Why can’t system ignore USB and just change the station?
Hi @antho214 :) That doesn't sound like a normal process. Here are a couple of things to consider: - There are two different types of voice command on the 2020 ES. Push and release for native Lexus car functions (like changing the radio stations) and Push and Hold to access Siri. Is it possible that you are pushing an holding and the system is trying to access Siri? Siri can only operate phone function and may be jumping to the iPod aspect of your phone. - The phone could benefit from a soft reset. Just power it down, unplug and then re-plug and try again with the Push and Release for regular car audio commands. If it is still giving you trouble, plug into a USB adapter in the 12-volt accessory charger. That charger is not linked to the sound system or Apple CarPlay. Hope this helps :)
I have just bought RX450 H 2019 model with 12.3” screen 2nd hand and the “voice recognition training” option is just not showing on the list of options? Anyone know how i can train voice recognition? Thanks
Hi @Geoff. That feature should be available for your year RX with Navigation. Make sure the vehicle is running, but not in motion. Make sure the vehicle is in Park. Then go to Menu > Setup > Voice > Train Voice Recognition. Here's the link for the NAV Owner's Manual for your vehicle: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM48K03U/pdf/OM48K03U.pdf They show the steps on page 219. If that does not work, I would consider following the steps to do "Delete Personal Data" and see if that will clear the system for you. If that still doesn't get it, I would contact your Lexus dealer for Service and see if they have any kind of update available for your vehicle. Best of luck. Thanks for watching.
Too funny! I was actually born in Houston, TX :) But I have lived all over so I don't have a strong Texas drawl, unless I'm really tired LOL! Thanks for tuning in with me!
Hey @Mark. What model and year is your Lexus? The "Voice Recognition Prompts" are what you hear when you push the Talk button on the steering wheel and give a category for commands like audio or Navigation. Off will mean it should go straight to the beep all the time, no prompts or help from the system. High gives the most help available. Low is a little less prompting. For example: On High - Say "Audio" (get a prompt) then say "More Commands" and get another prompt. On Low - Say "Audio" (get a prompt) then say "More Commands" and you just get the beep. This would also impact how much help you get if you are having trouble with things like entering an address when asking for directions. Hope this helps. Thanks so watching!
Hi Andrei. Some vehicle have that customization in the settings on the car. However many need to be customized at the dealership by a Technician. Here's the link for your Lexus Personalized Settings. Hi Peter. The new system is different. The map screen at start up has a Home shortcut and two quick start type favorites. You can also save a list of 10 Favorites in the Search Menu settings, that you can voice command. Push the button, wait for the beet, say "Go to Favorite...(1-10)" Hope this helps.

Hi Harrie, I'm sorry the video was confusing. Every voice command is launched by using the voice command button on the steering wheel. I show that at the beginning, but don't repeat it too much to keep the video length shorter. If you have a question I can help with please let me know. Thanks again for tuning in. In my 2017 NX I can't seem to get the Voice Rec to do anything more than the simplest commands, I have no particular voice accent or inflection, but I keep again the say it again, for example the "72 degrees" command seems simple, but no... isn't understood, and yes, I did do the 10 training sentences. The music/word "Country" isn't picked up at all even though there aren't many like sounding words it would be confused for. Thoughts?
Hi Tony. Thanks for watching. Keep in my the cars I was demonstrating on are 2020 and 2021 versions. So they are all going to be a little different. Looking at the Owner's Manual for your year NX, I would recommend the following: 1. Turn on "Expanded Voice Commands" (if you haven't done that already.) Since you've done the voice training and don't have an accent or inflection, then this is about identifying what commands the car will respond to. 2. For climate on certain years you can say "warmer and cooler" or "I'm too hot." "I'm too cold." It will adjust by 4 degrees, but those systems didn't recognize specific degrees. You'll have to experiment after turning on "Expanded Voice Commands and see what your system will recognize. According to what I see in the OM it is possible with that setting turned on. 3. When asking for a genre of music make sure to say "Play Country Station." And it should select the last source from that genre. 4. Check out the Voice Command lists in your OMs: - NAV/Multimedia System OM: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM78153U/pdf/OM78153U.pdf - OM: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM78145U/pdf/OM78145U.pdf - OM Quick Guide: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM78149U/pdf/OM78149U.pdf Use the search feature on your computer and search "voice command" and scroll through until you get to the lists. I hope this helps you have a better experience with the system :)

Highly informative video. I don't yet own a Lexus, previous Prius .I am looking at NX300 as a replacement , so this is great information.
Hi Melissa, Could you please tell me how to turn on the front 5 MPH camera. It somehow got turned off. Thanks Jim
You bet! The Auto mode for your 360 camera can be turned on if you:
- Car turned on.
- Foot on the brake & shift into Drive.
- Press the View Button to turn the cameras on.
- Click on the the word Auto in the bottom left corner of the screen. You should see a small light to the left of the word Auto that turns on.
- Shift back to Park.
You should be all set :)
As usual your a life saver. I love the gadgets, sometimes learning how to use them is a little overwhelming. Thanks again Melissa!!
Hi Melissa, I have the hands free lift gate on my 2020 Lexus RX 450. At first it worked flawlessly now it doesn't work at all. Anything I can check?
Hi James, It is possible that it has been turned off in settings in the MID. Here are the steps to check: Using the panel of four arrows on the steering wheel: use the left or right arrows to move to the Settings Menu > use the up or down arrows to highlight PBD > push the "dot" button in the middle of the arrows to toggle from "off" to "on" I hope this helps! Thanks for being here with me!
Thanks Melissa for all your videos ,,, they are all excellent.

You are so welcome! Thanks very much for tuning in!

@@NorthsideLexus Actually, my vehicle does only support voice recognition for phone tags.
Greetings again from South Africa. Here is to another great and helpful video. Have you ever considered Q&A sessions?

Hi LAM, Thanks so much for watching the channel! I'm very glad the videos have been helpful for you. The earlier generations of the voice commands system can be cumbersome for sure. I think checking some of the lists in the different Owner's Manuals might help. I can only access the US versions. Do you have access to a UK version of the Lexus Drivers website? The manuals under the resources tab are in pdf format and you can search though them for a wealth of info.
@@NorthsideLexus thank you. I will give it a go and let you know :)

Does 2019 RX 350 have voice commands?
Hi @Joseph! Yes, all Lexus vehicles going back for many years have voice commands. Check the different Owner's Manuals for tips on things you can say and operate in your Lexus with voice commands. Do you know how to keep the google maps background white night time? Mine automatically turns black when it gets dark
Thanks for the great question! This is an app customization. Here's how to adjust it:
- Open Google Maps app on your phone
- Put in a destination and start the directions
- Swipe up on the small gray menu bar near the bottom of the screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll down to Map Display "Color Scheme"
- Select "Day" from the list It defaults to Automatic
You may have to close and reopen the app to see the changes on your car or it might happen automatically. I haven't tried changing that setting yet. Also these steps are for an iPhone. They will be similar for Android. Let me know if you need any other help! Welcome to The Lexus Virtual Classroom!

@@NorthsideLexus thanks for the response.
Great video. Shame my Apple play doesn’t work. Going to have to contact corporate Lexus. As it’s a new 2020 nx300.
Thanks so much, Janet. Strange about your ACP. Some things to check:
- Make sure you have an authentic Apple cord or data certified cord
- On the car check the following: Menu > Setup > Projection Settings > ACP On (Android Auto Off)
- On the phone check the following: Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > If this feature is turned on then turn it off or go to "Allowed Apps" and turn on CarPlay
- Turn the phone off and back on, plug into the USB port in the arm rest, look for Apple CarPlay on the car screen and then give permission on the phone screen.
Here are a couple of things to consider:
- There are two different types of voice command on the 2020 ES.
Thanks for watching.

what does "voice recognition prompts High/Low/off setting do?

Looking at the Owner's Manual for your year NX, I would recommend the following:
4. Check out the Voice Command lists in your OMs:
- NAV/Multimedia System OM: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM78153U/pdf/OM78153U.pdf
- OM: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM78145U/pdf/OM78145U.pdf
- OM Quick Guide: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM78149U/pdf/OM78149U.pdf
Use the search feature on your computer and search "voice command" and scroll through until you get to the lists.
I hope this helps you have a better experience with the system :)
