    Guns are used to protect valuables. Guards have guns in the banks to protect money. Armed security are all over the airports. Jewelry stores have armed guards. Malls have armed guards. I could go on. So can you agree that our children are valuable? Or do you not feel like they should be protected as aggressively as the aforementioned areas that guns are used to protect inanimate objects we consider as valuables? We protect bars of gold more than we protect our children.

      Now who said to COMPLETELY BAN guns? I have heard NOTHING about that. Assault weapons I have heard and agree with. You don't need an assault weapon. If you need that for hunting you are one piss poor hunter. Hand guns....have not heard anyone wanting them taken away. America is a horrible place for the citizens that just want to live their lives. You now have to walk into a store and not know who has a gun....what nut case is going to pull out a gun if you look at them the wrong way. This is NOT the wild west. We have advance since then. What is wrong with background checks? At gun show also? What is wrong with not letting someone who is mentally incapable of handling a gun not get one? More guns is NOT the answer.

    • @phillhuddleston9445

      The second amendment is not and never has been about hunting or target shooting. Anyone who seriously believes that our founding fathers wrote the second amendment to protect our right to hunt or shoot targets is an idiot. Background checks are already in place even at gun shows, stop getting your disinformation from the left wing media. If you are not happy here maybe you can move to a country with very strict gun laws where almost nobody is allowed to own a firearm like Mexico.

    I think the intended purpose would be achieved simply by allowing carry-licensed adults on the permanent staff to carry on school grounds if they so chose. Probably there should be a specially designed course of instruction required, as the President suggested. Other issues, such as early detection of kids who are losing it, can be treated separately. One nice feature of this plan is that the additional expense is low (just the special course and some administration). Another nice feature is that it remedies the current violation of the teachers' right of self-defense.

You would not believe how many staff I worked with who were injured, including broken arms, ankles and legs because they saw no other choice than to throw themselves between the aggressor (bully) to protect a victim/ innocent child. I also think alot of this shit comes down to lawsuits. See if an outsider comes into a school and murders people, who the fuck are the victims gonna sue? The shooter right? And if they sue the school, the school can say "Hey we did everything we can and we made it a gun free zone..."
    But if a teachers gun goes off accidently and injures someone, or the teacher shoots people, then the school district and state are totally liable. So they would wrather have somebody kill everybody and not be liable, than allow teachers to conceal carry and get sued and lose their high district board positions when something happens with a teachers gun.

      One of the reasons many are in favor of having teachers who volunteer and get licensed and trained to provide a layer of deterrent (mainly) and protection (secondarily) is that it is not economically feasible to have police (or armed guards even) at every school. Municipalities, states, and the federal government are all strapped for cash and so that would not work...much less building police stations beside every school.

    I have always believed that the ability to fight back makes the world a safer place. And this is true all the way from an individual carrying a gun to nations possessing nuclear weapons. Two people are much more likely to come to blows over small issues if neither of them possess guns. The threat of mutual destruction makes people disciplined. The only reason why cold war never turned into world war 3 is because both USA and USSR had nuclear weapons.
    But of course, at the same time, weapons must not fall in hands of crazy people who don't mind being killed themselves. And that's also true all the way from Elliot Rodger getting a gun to Al Qaida getting a nuclear bomb.

      Still, 6th or 7th safest country in the world.
      Actually, in 10 of the safest countries in the world (global peace index), mentioning countries which I know from personal experience of living there:
      Austria: 4th safest. Widespread gun ownership.
      Czech Republic: 6th safest. Widespread gun ownership. Widespread concealed carry.
      Switzerland: 9th safest. Widespread gun ownership.

    All possible outcomes will eventually occur. To the people who say, "what about when a teacher decides to shoot kids". Well, yeah. That eventually will happen. Denying that possibility would be absurd. There is no version of this world where we all live in perfect safety. But, we can choose the lesser of evils. And, I'm confident that teachers, who train and choose to be armed, will prevent far more harm than they will cause. Just like police. Police everywhere are armed, and some of them do bad things with the power they have, including shooting innocent people. But, on the whole, that's not how things go down. Personally, I would trust an armed teacher more than an armed police officer. The teacher didn't choose a career in using violence to control and lock people up, and in my own experience, they have a much more calm, peaceful disposition.

    This is a bunch of bull. Isn't it illegal to have weapons on school campus unless you are a licensed certified SRO or a peace officer of the county/city? Why is everyone just ignoring that fact?

    • @inuous

      And if they become unlucky, like any school that becomes "unluckly", and I think we mean targeted, will they fare better than an unarmed "gun free zone"? My guess is if they become targeted they fare better than a school where their only option is to hunker down and wait for someone to rescue them. If you were yourself in a situation with an active shooter, would you prefer to be armed or have someone there with you who is armed? If the shooter is coming into the room with you, or is bashing down whatever door is between you and them, what situation do you want to be in? Armed or unarmed?

    • @dsmyify
      @dsmyify 6 лет назад

      we recognise problems through their symptoms. Pain in the left arm is a symptom of heart disease for example. A solution needs to fix the problem and not just it's symptoms. Treating the left arm doesn't mend the heart. Giving teachers guns; is that fixing the problem or fixing a symptom?

    • @electrowolf6260
      @electrowolf6260 6 лет назад

      dsmyify I don’t think arming teachers with gun is a good idea, I prefer having armed guards to be in school instead.

    • @dsmyify
      @dsmyify 6 лет назад

      Everything Sucks ~ correlation doesn't equal causation. Believing gun free zones lead to active shooters represents specious reasoning.
      Rather that thinking about ways to stop an active shooter why not think about ways to not have shooters in the first place?
      The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is make sure they can't get a gun. Prevention is better than the cure.
      Give up the right.

    • @dsmyify
      @dsmyify 6 лет назад

      It's a difficult one. Was told a story once of a business trip to a remote area in the Soviet Union. The law was in the hands of the local towns people; no control over guns. Bodies littered the side of the streets. Life meant very little. Like the war zones, like the old wild west and like the ghettos.
      Terrorists win based on the response of those they terrorize. Active shooters are terrorists. How you respond to them determines whether or not they win. More guns in response to a terror attack, to a shooting, that's responding to the fear, that's giving in to the fear, that means the terrorist won.
      Good luck America.

    A dishonest statement persists! I am a teacher not a law officer is all I want to hear after L E T H A L force, which is in no way another right to hold/stage or communte or grant clemency, or grant solemnity to an educator, of we'd have hoped the highest standard of the correct state of mind to not ask what question deserves a violent answer? In between that answer and a childs harms way, a court of law. This law, exception to rule, which grants special access, simply will not be tolerated. Not until full disclosure and civil joinder with an H O N E S T hardworking american people may have the manner elucidated further as to why an educator? Of all people has now the right? Not so. To teach? Maybe. Not to hold stage grant clemency or commute even an officer sworn a solemn oath to serve and protect. Unless upheld by the highest standard in a majority rule bifurcated bicameral bipartisan democrat or republican honest way of learning, hmm equality? No?

      How about the role of the state representative in another jurisdiction? Because these are far past grounds for charges to be pressed, i dont know, maybe by the great state of Maryland, in which a law making body still may understand reckless endangerment and that of harms wsy? No? How about a learning model and the right of people to reach a joinder? No? How about criminal hmmm? Idk i think you like your taxpayer funded pay stub?

    A school in a county 150 miles northwest of Ft. Worth with only 13,000 people (in the entire county) are scared that a loony will charge in from Highway 287 to shoot up a school.
    Now compare that to Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the Miami metro of Parkland, FL where over 31,500 live just in the city alone (Nearly 2-million in the county). Now with Sandy Hook in the New York City metro of Newtown, CT where over 28,000 people again just live in that city alone (Over 950,000 in the county).
    I think the reason Harrold ISD hasn't had a mass shooting is for the same reason Cody High School in Wyoming hasn't, barely anyone's there and barely even a reason to go there

    Just because they are armed does not mean that they have stopped a shooting. There's not been a case where a teacher had to draw a weapon. What happens when the teacher never gets a clear shot? Are they going to fire with students in halls and add to the problem? What happens when the police do show up and you have multiple people with guns in the school?

    Just arm the displinary teachers, deputy and the principal. Then start a program on Respect for diversity in schools. Teacher have to spot and tutor children who are different whether in academic performance or people interaction capacity. There must be minimal victimisation of students. Learning to be democratic in a free country isn't easy.

      You're a coward. Pure and simple. This also means you would never do anything to save children if you had the power to do so in a situation like this. If the police take minutes to respond and be in a position to do something, then NO one else can either? Cowardly and foolish, and you should be ashamed of your situation.

    The AR-15 is not a gun it is much much more damaging than a gun. It is a killing rifle. Here is a Wikipedia definition the specifies the relationship between the M16 and the AR-15...The M16 rifle, officially designated Rifle, Caliber 5.56 mm, M16, is a United States military adaptation of the ArmaLite AR-15 rifle. The original M16 was a selective fire 5.56mm rifle with a 20-round magazine.
